He Can Carry Me

Moon is shocked by the small collection of people waiting by the front door of the packhouse. Doc. Lewis, Chris, and Johnny were there deep in conversation, but when Colin opened his door Doc. Lewis was the first to make it to Moon’s door and open it. Chris and Johnny walked over, joining Colin as Doc. had the door open and was looking in on Moon before any protest could be made.

The rush of people at her door before she could even think clearly made Moon uncomfortable. She found herself subconsciously scooting back from them, hesitant to face them all. Doc picked up on her trepidation and looking over his shoulder.

“Gentlemen, do you think you could get her bags for her? Or be useful in some other way other than hovering and making her more uncomfortable?” his tone was kind. Still, the way Chris and Johnny jumped back, you would have thought Colin had given an order.

“Yeah, sorry Doc, we just wanted to look in on Moon and see she was really all right.” Johnny stumbled a bit over the words and placing a hand on Chris’s chest, pushing him back a bit as well.

“Yeah, sorry, Doc.” Chris took the hand Johnny had placed on his chest and then moved to the back of the SUV. Moon watches them exchange looks and a few words with each other and Colin as well. The back of the SUV opens, and they grab some bags, and Moon recognizes them as hers. Then she starts to wonder who had packed them. She hates the thought that someone may have gone through her things and hopes briefly that Colin hadn’t.

“Moon,” Doc calls her name, stopping her from panicking much more. “Moon, do you think you can walk into the packhouse so I can get a look at you?” Doc had his black medical bag with him.

“I think so,” Moon said, not seeing a reason that she wouldn’t be able to; she feels fine.

Doc moves back to give her some room, just to be replaced by Colin standing in the way. Moon looks up at him, he is looking at her sternly, and she almost wants to giggle at him. He looks so severe she finds it a little funny.

“You are making it hard to get out of the car with you standing there, you know.” Moon has an amused tone to her voice and suppresses a small giggle. She knows he’s overprotective, and it’s sweet, but in her eyes, it feels unneeded.

“Oh, am I?” Colin raises an eyebrow, “You were ice cold and unconscious just fifteen minutes ago.” Colin crosses his arms across his chest, causing his muscles to flex and his black tee shirt to tighten around them.

Moon stops herself from staring as her wolf wags its tail. Moon lets out a giggle, still unaccustomed to feeling her wolf as much as she can now. It is so strange to her. Moon can feel what Kiara is feeling, and she is not complaining about the view.

He can carry me if he wants to. Kiara chimes in Moon’s mind.

Oh, I don’t think so. Moon shoots back to her wolf. I’m not getting carried in there by him. I feel fine, and I don’t want people to see me as weak. I’m sick of people thinking I’m weak.

Fine, but can’t we be just a little weak with just him? Kiara practically howls with laughter as a few dirty thoughts flash in Moon’s head. Her wolf has one thing on her mind, and Moon is trying not to blush.

“Moon, are you still here?” Colin reaches out and places his index finger and thumb on her chin tilting her face to look up at him again. Moon blinks a few times, realizing that she completely spaced out talking to her wolf. Moon had seen kids do the same thing when they first got their wolves. They would get so caught up talking to the new voice living in their head they would forget where they were completely a lot of times.

“I’m fine,” Moon says, blinking and giving Colin a small smile. “Really, I feel fine, and I want to get out of this car, so please let me out, and I can walk just fine.” Moon stubbornly says.

“I think it will be fine if she thinks she can manage on her own.” Doc. states, and Colin grumbles a bit, moving back.

“Fine, but if you get unsteady at all.” Colin continues to grumble a bit, letting her out of the SUV. A few omegas have come out of the packhouse, and they grab a few boxes and start carrying them off before Moon can tell them not to worry about it. She still isn’t used to having people doing things she is perfectly capable of doing herself.

Moon feels like a goldfish in a bowl with Doc and Colin staring at her. She gets out of the SUV without incident. Her legs feel a little unsteady, and her whole body is a little heavy and tired, which seems ridiculous to Moon. She slept a whole day away. Tired should be the last thing she feels.

Colin is sticking close by her side as Doctor Lewis leads the way, opening the door for Moon and Colin. Moon is so uncomfortable with the whole situation that she starts fidgeting with her neckless. Her toe catches the first of the three steps leading into the packhouse, and she trips forward. Colin has her swept up in his arms before she can even gasp. It was almost like he knew she was going to stumble on something, and he was waiting for it. He growls softly, seemingly angry at the step for tripping her. Colin scoops up her legs, and Moon turns bright pink.

“You can put me down,” Moon says sheepishly. She can see Doc. trying not to smile or chuckle, and it is only adding to her embarrassment.

“Nope, the deal was if you were unsteady at all, I get to carry you.” Colin looks down at her out of the corner of his eye. The twinkle of amusement and pleasure at just getting to hold her again is not lost on Moon.

“Lead the way, Doc. let’s get the exam over with.” Colin is anxious to hear what Doc thinks, and if Moon is really as all right as she seems, how could she be okay after all of that? Colin is also anxious to call Ben and find out what Jake Woods has to say about Moon and her suppressed wolf.
