Jerica’s POV

Alpha Hunter called me into his office. Goddess that makes me so nervous. I get to the door and knock.

“Come in.”

I walk in and bow my head. I keep my head down as I say, “You called for me Alpha Hunter.” I almost whisper it. I’m never loud with the wolves. I’m too meek. They have good hearing anyway.

“We have the alpha from Diamond Heart Pack coming tomorrow at the request of the alpha king. Something about making sure our fighters are ready for possible war with the vampires or whatever. He’ll be here a week. You are to stay far away from him. So only do your important chores then stay in your room. I don’t need him seeing our pack’s embarrassment. Understand?”

“Yes sir, Alpha. I won’t let him see me.”

“Good. He’ll be here by lunch. Now get out of my office. I can’t stand your presence anymore.”

With a bow I quickly leave. A little later I’m putting dinner out on the buffet and those dumb she-wolves who love to talk about me come in.

“I heard that Diamond Heart’s alpha is so sexy. Wouldn’t it be great if he’s my mate? I could definitely see myself as luna. Especially to a fine ass alpha.”

“Yes. But wouldn’t it be even better if he’s MY mate? I would make a wonderful luna.”

That’s gonna get catty quick. Surely the moon goddess wouldn’t bless either of them with an alpha. Lunas are supposed to kind and motherly. They care for their pack and for others. They wouldn’t feel humans as lesser creatures either. Those dumb she-wolves can just keep dreaming. I finish up with the buffet table and go wait in the kitchen. Once everyone is eating I clean up the buffet table and get my food. One chicken finger, a few green beans and a roll. Better than some days. After I eat I start cleaning the kitchen. The kitchen staff omegas want it started before they come in. At 9 I’m in bed. At least with the alpha visiting tomorrow I’ll be in my room a lot. It’ll be an actual break. Pam snuck me a few books so I’ll finally be able to read some. Thank goddess for the Diamond Heart alpha.

The next morning I’m in the kitchen at 4 as usual starting breakfast. I can’t wait till the alpha gets here. I could use a break. After breakfast I clean the pack living room and the downstairs bathrooms and then start lunch. Once I get the buffet set Alpha Hunter comes in the kitchen.

“Alpha Reo will be here soon. Get to your room. Now.”

“Yes sir.”

I guess no lunch for me today. Oh well. I head to my room. I have an apple in my drawer that Pam brought me last night at least and I could also use a shower. I’m going to take full advantage of this break I’m getting.

Reo’s POV

I arrive at the Shadow pack at lunch as promised. Caleb and I are greeted by Alpha Hunter and his beta, Frank.

“Hello Alpha Reo. I hope your drive was well.”

“That it was. Thank you. This is one of my wolves, Caleb.”

“Good to meet you Caleb. Please come in. We just set lunch out.”

We walk in and Red is starting to move around.

‘Do you smell that?’ He ask.

‘I do. After lunch I’ll investigate it some more.’

I can’t tell now but there is a smell that is intriguing. After the food is put away from lunch I’ll be able to trace it better.

We go into the pack hall and Hunter introduces us. After some bows of respect and some hellos we get our food and sit. Some of the she-wolves are staring at me. Never fails. I only want my true mate though, so I ignore them and just talk with Hunter. He’s telling me about his fighters.

“I dare say we have some of the best fighters around. I wouldn’t want to be a vampire up against my pack.” He puffs his chest out and smiles.

‘Prick.’

I have to agree with Red on that one. Not a humble bone in this douche’s body. No wonder he’s 35 and still doesn’t have a Luna yet. Ugly inside and out. He disgusts me.

“And what of your businesses in the city?” I ask. All alphas have businesses in the city they protect. It’s how we make our money and one way to help protect the humans.

“Yes. We have many. More than the other two packs in our area. We are highly profitable.”

‘I bet you are Jackass,’ Red says.

“I’d like to go to the city at some point. Just to check things out.”

“Yes, of course.”

After an annoying lunch, Hunter goes to show us our rooms on the first floor. The minute I get to my door that smell hits me again. It’s like oranges and cream. It’s the best scent I’ve ever smelled. I must find it. I start walking towards it and it leads me to a door to the basement.

“What are doing Alpha Reo? That’s just our basement. Nothing is down there.”

“I smell something and I’m going to find it.”

I walk down the stairs and find a room. The smell is definitely coming from that room. Without knocking I open the door. Inside I see the most beautiful woman. Dark hair, unique aqua eyes and pale skin.

‘MATE!’ Red yells.

“Mate.”

Jerica’s POV

I just finished my shower. I towel dry my hair then wrap the towel around me. In my room, at my chest of drawers with my one little mirror, I brush out my hair. As I finish I hear my door open. Alpha Hunter didn’t feel it necessary I have a lock on my door. I don’t deserve privacy it seems. No one ever comes down here though. When the door opens I see the sexiest man. He’s got to be 6’5”, tan, dark brown eyes, a shaved head, muscular (like, his muscles have muscles) and the most wonderful smile I’ve ever seen.

“Mate,” he says, then he has me in his arms, holding me tight and smelling my hair.

That’s when it hits me, I’m in just my towel. I jump back and cross my arms over my chest.

“I’m sorry. Your dressing. Wait, is this your room?”

He looks really mad now.

“Yes sir,” I whisper with my head down. This must be Diamond Heart’s alpha. And, did he just call me mate? ME?!

“What’s your name Beautiful?”

“Jerica.”

“Jerica, my name is Reo. I’m the alpha of Diamond Heart and your mate. Please, get dressed and pack your clothes. You’re gonna stay with me in my room. Caleb, stand guard outside her door and wait for her. When she’s done take her to my room and stand guard there. Alpha Hunter, I’d like to talk to you in your office. NOW.”

Am I about to be saved? And by an alpha?! I don’t know what to think. Oh my goddess. Wait! HIS room?! Oh, goddess, oh goddess, oh goddess. He said mate. Is he going to want to mate with me tonight? I’m not ready for that. I don’t feel the bond as a human. I need time. Will he understand that? I know how important the mate bond is to wolves. The moment they find their mate they mark them and become one. Rarely do they wait any amount time to do so. If he feels it, I believe him but that doesn’t change the fact I need time. I mean, I’m a virgin human.

I get dressed and pack my few clothes and walk with Caleb up the stairs and to Reo’s room. He tells me to sit and wait and that he’ll stay outside the door. He seems to be very kind. He’s handsome as well. Thick, dark reddish brown curly hair. Green eyes. After thanking him he walks out. Man, this is a nice room. That bed looks so comfortable. I don’t want Alpha Reo catching me on the bed though. A little too intimate. There is a couch in here though. This couch is better than my bed. I sit and lay my head back and before I know it, I’m asleep.
