Reo Thatcher, alpha of the Diamond Heart Pack, meeting with King Alpha Benjamin.

“I agree with you Reo. We do need to double down on human protection. I know some packs are only helping the rich for profit and it’s not right. But I also need evidence. That’s where you come in. I’m gonna send some of my most trusted alphas to the packs I believe are doing this. The pack closest to you is the Shadow pack. I’m sending you there under the pretense that you’re helping me check up on pack fighters. You have one of the biggest and strongest packs so it makes sense. The way things are going with the vampires no one will question my reasoning.”

“Sounds like a great idea King Alpha Benjamin. I am happy to help in anyway I can. The first werewolves came from humans. I don’t see why every werewolf wouldn’t want to protect them.”

“I know. Luckily for that city the other two packs around them aren’t like the Shadow Pack. So at least the humans are still protected.”

The moon goddess blessed some humans hundreds of years ago with wolves to protect each other. A demon escaped purgatory and before the goddess and her warriors could capture him he created vampires. He found humans with so much hate in their hearts that it was an easy task to turn them. So the goddess created werewolves. She also blessed some humans with magic. Of course, like anything else, evil grew from that as well. Witches who wanted more power and thought themselves better. That’s how dark magic was created. The human race must be protected. It is a beautiful creation of the goddess.

“When do I go to the Shadow Pack?”

“Next week. All the alphas I’m sending will go to their assigned pack on Monday. You’re expected to arrive around lunch time. I’m giving everyone a week. Like I said, with how the vampires have been acting lately I need to move on from this matter quickly. Leave your beta at your pack to run things. Take one or two of your best with you.”

“Yes sir.”

Reo’s POV

“You’ll stay here and handle everything. My father will step up as well. I’ll only be gone a week and the Shadow pack is only a three hour drive away.”

“Everything will fine here. Have no worries.”

“Thank you, Kevin.”

I’m Alpha Reo of the Diamond Heart Pack. I’m 27 and have been alpha for 5 years. Kevin is my beta. I’ll be leaving him in charge of the pack while I go to the Shadow pack for the king alpha.

“Who are you taking with you?”

“Caleb. He’s our best tracker and a great fighter. He’ll be helpful in more ways than one.”

Before Kevin can say anything else there is a knock at the door. I tell them to enter and in walks our resident witch, Tabitha. She is mated to one of my fighters and is one of the best in her coven. We’re lucky to have her here.

“Tabitha. To what do I owe this pleasure?”

“Alpha Reo.” She bows her head in sign of respect. “I wanted to give you some healing teas to take with you. Just in case. Not that anything will happen.”

“Better safe than sorry. Thank you Tabitha. I don’t know how much I can trust the Shadow Pack so having this will make me feel better.” Tabitha is a very thoughtful person. I’m glad she thought of this. I trust that alpha Hunter about as far as I can throw him.

“Be safe Alpha Reo. May the goddess be by your side. Blessed be.” She says, then bows again and leaves after giving me the teas.

“I won’t lie. I feel better with you having that as well.” Kevin says.

“Yeah. Don’t know why but something tells me I might need it. I don’t like that feeling.”

“Your gut tends to be right. Be careful.”

“Yeah. No worries. It’ll be fine.”

Kevin leaves and I get what I need packed up. I need to get this job done and get back to my pack.

‘I also feel something special will happen as well though.’ Red, my wolf, tells me. Our wolves can talk with us through a mind link. Sometimes, they’re even like our conscience.

‘Interesting. I’m feeling a lot right now. Can’t pinpoint the exact feelings though.’

‘Just keep your guard up.’

‘Yeah. How about a run Buddy?’

He’s going crazy in my head over that idea. I go outside and at the edge of the woods I strip and change. Red is a very large wolf and has a, well, a red coat. Shocker right? We go for a much needed run. Afterwords, I head inside the pack house and up to the third floor where the alpha apartment is and get some rest. I leave in two days. I’m ready to get this done and over with.
