Luna Ceremony

Jerica’s POV

“Ok. Luckily, with you being a Raven, things should come naturally to you. Your power will be easy to control. The big thing will be learning spells. You’re going to have to do a LOT of studying.”

Agatha, the elder witch of Tabitha’s coven, our local coven, is telling me what to expect. She is over 200 years old but looks no older than 40. A good looking 40. She’s short, about 5’4”, skinny, dark blonde hair that reaches the top of her butt and bright lime green eyes. She’s beautiful and also very kind.

It’s the day after my birthday. I’m going get to see what it feels like to use this power I’ve been feeling since I woke yesterday morning. Agatha is explaining to me how to focus and pull my magic energy to the surface for a spell. She tells me a simple spell of putting an invisible barrier up. I’m able to do it quickly. It is actually quite easy. I learn that certain things like you would see in a movie or read in a fantasy book are not real. We can’t disappear or teleport ourselves in a poof. We can’t turn people into animals or anything. We don’t fly on broomsticks, things like that. We have a power that can shoot a light as a weapon. We can mess with the elements, for instance, making earth move, manipulating water and wind. We can create fire. Not all witches can use the elements and all witches who can can’t use all of the elements. Then we have spells for different things. Protection, pain, healing to an extent, creating invisible barriers. We can enchant things. We can sense certain things. The more in tune you are with your power then the more in tune you are with nature, other witches, sensing good or bad presences. Virginal witches are better with all that. The evil and conceded nature in demonic witches prevents them from being as in tune. I’ve learned a lot today. I have major control over my power so the main thing I need to do is study on the things we control and how to do it and of course spells.

“You have great control of your power. If you have any questions about what you read just ask. We’ll get together a few times a week to see how you’re doing,” Agatha says as we end our lesson.

I thank her and leave with Tabitha. We met in the pack hall for safety. The vampires hit a bigger city in the middle of the night. The packs around it are strong, yet they were able to kill 200 citizens. Two of the packs also lost a total of five wolves and all three packs have at least 10 in each injured. They took out one fourth of the vampires though. Of the ones that attacked that is. That’s good at least. We fear they’re all going to hit each pack at the same time. They’re just gearing up and assessing everything right now. At this time they are attacking the cities, seeing how the wolves react. Once they’re ready for war, they’ll attack the packs all at once. It’ll be all or nothing. That’s how they’ll have to do it if they even want to try to take us all down. I hope I’m prepared when they come here. I’m going to study as much as possible. I MUST be ready. I’m the Luna of this pack. It’s up to me and Reo to keep everyone safe and work with our neighboring packs in protecting our city and humans.

Speaking of being Luna. My ceremony is tomorrow night. Some of our wolves are setting up a stage outside near the training grounds for it. It doesn’t have to happen under the full moon but it makes it more special. We will truly feel blessed by the moon goddess. For the rest of today though, I’m studying. After lunch with my girls that is. I’m starving. I could hardly eat this morning I was so nervous and excited about meeting with Agatha. I’m tired too but since that’s due to my sexy mate making love to me till the early morning, I’m not gonna complain. He even got up and made breakfast this morning so I could rest more. He also ran me a hot bubble bath with epsom salts to soak my sore muscles. I had a lot new stuff happen in my nether region that was a major workout. Again, not complaining though.

Tabitha and I walk into the dinner hall and get our food. We go sit with Val and Pam.

“How was training?” Pam ask me.

“So great. I have a lot of studying but I like to study and learn so that works for me.”

“She’s awesome. That Raven blood is no joke,” Tabitha tells everyone.

We just started eating when Caleb, Lance and Zane, Tabitha’s mate, come sit with us.

“This is a nice surprise. Y’all are usually too busy to get to eat with us,” Pam says as she gives Lance a kiss.

“Our wonderful Alpha gave everyone the afternoon off along with tomorrow off in honor of our new Luna,” Zane tells us.

“That’s a surprise to me too. That’s so sweet of him,” I say.

As I finish my sentence Blair, Kevin, Tammy and Joe comes and sits with us. We all say our heys to them. Where the heck is my mate? The man who made it where everyone else is eating lunch with their mates. Before I can ask I sense him. I look over and he is walking in. He smiles at me.

‘Did you think I wasn’t coming?’ He mind links me.

‘I knew you would. Get your lunch so you can sit your sexy ass down. I want to have lunch with my handsome mate.’

‘Yes, ma’am.’ Then he winks at me.

I talk with everyone else while I wait for him. It’s not long before he is sitting next to me. He gives me a kiss and ask how my lesson went.

“She’s a natural. Those vampires are as good as dead,” Tabitha brags on me.

“I wouldn’t go that far. I’m just lucky I have the Raven blood. That’s the only reason I have such control. It’s not me, it’s the moon goddess’s blessing on my family.”

“I love how humble you are, Dear, but you yourself are marvelous. With or without the Raven gene.”

“Thank you, Dad.”

Reo is looking at me and I feel his pride. I’m not used to this feeling of being wanted and people being proud of me but damn, it feels real good.

We finish our lunch then Reo and I go to our apartment upstairs. I have so much studying to do. We decide we’ll spend time together in bed, me with my spell and witch history books and Reo with his work. Of course we take a break to be with each other throughout our study session. He’s too irresistible to not jump every chance I get. And that’s how we choose to spend the rest of our day till we finally decide we need sleep. Tomorrow is big for us.

The next day we get up and have breakfast. I’m gonna study for a few hours before I have to get ready. I’m on the couch with my legs on Reo while he watches tv and I read. He rubs my legs and massages my feet.

“Goddess, some of these words are confusing. I’m going to have to get some help tomorrow when I meet with Agatha.”

“I’ve heard Tabitha when doing a spell. I couldn’t repeat those words for anything. I’m sure it’ll come easy for you though once Agatha tells you what they are.”

“Y’all sure do have a lot of faith in me.”

“Of course we do. You’re perfect.”

I lean up and kiss him. He decides then that it’s break time for me. He closes my book and puts it on the coffee table. He takes me and settles me on his lap straddling him. He kisses me then moves his way down my jaw to my neck and kisses and sucks there for a minute. Not enough to leave a mark but enough to get me wet. After, we will have a party in the hall with food and dancing. This is basically the wolf version of a wedding. It’s even tradition that the alpha and luna get ready in different spots and don’t see each other till it’s time.

At 5:00 there is a knock on the door. I answer it to see Blair, Tammy and Pam. They’re helping me get ready. They boot Reo out the door. I grab a kiss before he leaves. He’s going to his parent’s apartment to get ready with his father and Kevin. The girls are excitingly pulling me to the bedroom, all talking at the same time. You’d think they were more excited than I am. Pam sits me down at my vanity and Tammy puts curlers in my hair. After the curlers are in Pam does my makeup. She’s using different shades of brown to make a smoky eye. The brown really brings out my eyes even more. She contours and highlights and puts a peachy pink blush on my cheeks. After some eye liner and mascara she puts a dark red lipstick with gloss on my lips. My makeup is flawless. Then Tammy takes out the curlers and does my hair up and to the left side, making sure the hair is away from the right where Reo will mark me. It’s flowy and gorgeous. Then she pulls out a small but beautiful and shiny tiara.

“It’s tradition in our pack that the new Luna wear this tiara on the night of her ceremony. I’m so happy and proud to pass this on to you, my new daughter and our pack’s new luna. I love you so much, Sweetie.”

Tammy puts the tiara on my head and then wipes her tears. I’m about to cry as well.

“Don’t you dare mess up your makeup!” Pam says. We all laugh and I get up and give Tammy a hug.

“Thank you. I hope I live up to the last Luna. I love you too, Momma.”

“Ok, very pregnant and very hormonal wolf over here and y’all are killing me. I’m about to mess up my own makeup,” Blair says as she gets up from sitting on the bed and hugs me as well.

“Well, this isn’t as sentimental as Mom’s gift but I have something for you too.” Blair pulls out a small wrapped box. I open it to see that it’s a necklace with matching earrings. Very simple and tasteful, perfect for me and goes well with my dress. The jewels are an aqua color almost matching my eyes perfectly.

“Blair, they’re beautiful. Thank you so much.”

“For my sister.”

I hug her again and she helps put the necklace on me and I put in the earrings. I go to the closet and pull out my dress still in its bag. I didn’t want Reo to see it. Pam helps me put it on. It’s white, long and flowy at the bottom with a corset like top. It has flowy long sleeves that go off my shoulders. Very medieval. I do a spin and everyone gushes over how pretty it is and how great I look. Pam helps me with my white strapped shoes and touches up my makeup. Once we’re all ready we head out to the stage.

There are chairs set up with an aisle down the middle. At the top is the stage. Everyone from the pack are there and waiting. But the most important person is the wolf standing on stage. Reo is in an all black suit with a white tie. The suit fits him just right. The girls take their seats up front and Joe comes up to me.

“It would be an honor to walk my daughter down the aisle. If you’ll let me.”

“I would be the one honored, Dad.”

He puts out his arm and I take it. He then walks me down the aisle to a smiling and teary eyed Reo. I can’t hold back my tears now. Joe walks me up to the stage and kisses my cheek and shakes Reo’s hand then gives him a hug. He walks down to his seat and Reo takes my hands in his. I look into his eyes and smile. We’re both tearing up good now. He links me that he loves me and I tell him I love him back. We turn to face the pack, Reo still holding my left hand, and he starts the ceremony.

Reo’s POV

My dad just walked Jerica to me. She is the most beautiful, amazing, precious thing in my life. I’m so happy right now I’m starting to cry. We’re on the stage and I’m holding her hand, facing the pack, ready to start the ceremony.

“Thank you all for coming today to celebrate your new luna. Jerica has already shown what a great luna she is. She’s kind, thoughtful and helps you when you’re in need. I’ve been told wonderful things by many of you of how she helped or gave a kind or encouraging word while she was out on pack land or at the diner helping Grandma Peggy. I’m proud to officially introduce her today as your Luna.” I turn to face Jerica. “Jerica Raven Thatcher, do you promise to be there for and protect our pack, Diamond Heart, with all you have and be a mother of our pack? To promise to be faithful to me as your mate and alpha?”

“I do.”

“And I, Reo Thatcher, promise to be faithful to you as my mate and luna.”

I bend down and whisper to her that’s it time, then my canines elongate and I bite and mark Jerica on her right shoulder. She gets her canines long enough to mark me on my right shoulder. I have to unbutton and move my shirt for her. I put my forehead to hers for a moment while the mark sinks in. Our connection is now at its strongest.

“I love you Darlin,” I whisper to her.

“I love you too,” she whispers back.

I lift my head and take a knife from my pocket. I make a small cut in my left palm then make one in her left palm. I put our hands together and my bond to the pack connects to her as well. We turn to the pack. They all stand and bow to us. I can sense that they all feel the connection with Jerica and feel Jerica’s connection to them.

“Diamond Heart, I introduce to you, your luna, Luna Jerica Raven Thatcher!”

Cheers and applause erupts from the pack. There are some whistles and whoops thrown in as well. I smile down at Jerica and kiss her. More whoops are heard. She smiles back at me. My beautiful mate. My heart is truly full. Our lead warriors transform into their wolves and howl. I let Red loose and howl back. Jerica cuddles up to us and pets Red’s head. He’s wagging his tail and is elated. Now it’s time to change back and go party.
