Jerica’s POV

I wake up the next morning in Reo’s arms. I thought this would be awkward but it’s not. I slide out of his arms to use the bathroom. I get dressed in my new jeans and a really pretty shirt. It’s short sleeves, a V neck and silky. It’s a baby blue color that is just gorgeous and it’s flowy at the waist. When I change my socks I see my feet have healed completely. They feel great too. I’ll have to remember to thank Tabitha for that cream. It’s a miracle worker. I walk into the kitchen and decide I’m going to make a delicious breakfast for my mate. My mate. Mine. My very sexy, extremely sweet and thoughtful mate. My heart flutters in my chest. I make him a huge omelette with onions, peppers, two kinds of cheese and sausage bits. I also make some hash browns and biscuits with honey butter. I put on a pot of coffee and fill two glasses with juice. As I get the table set Reo walks in.

“That smells great, Darlin.”

“Good morning. Have a seat. How do you take your coffee?” I ask.

“I’ll make my coffee. You’re not my maid you’re my mate.”

“You’ve been taking care of me. I want show you how much I care about you. Now, how do you take your coffee?”

“Black please,” he says as he sits down and smiles at me. That smile gets me every time.

I make his and my coffee and sit down with him.

“So I know. How do you take your coffee?” He ask me.

I smile at him. I love that he wants to know the small things.

“Two sugars and cream.” I say.

He smiles and then digs in to his meal. He stops and groans with his eyes closed.

“Baby, this is the best food I’ve ever had.”

“I’m sure that’s an exaggeration.”

“No, it’s not.”

He proves it by scarfing down his breakfast. I love how much he is enjoying it. Afterwards, we head downstairs to one of the living rooms. Yes, I said one, as in there are more than one. There are three. Plus a very large kitchen and dining hall, a female locker room, male locker room, gym, five downstairs bathrooms and many many bedrooms. Reo’s parents have a smaller apartment on the third floor as well as his sister and beta. The second floor has rooms for couples that are waiting for housing, regular rooms and bunk rooms if you want a roommate. Every room has its own bathroom. It’s amazing. The training ground is also near the pack house. As we walk into the living room Pam runs up and gives me a hug. Before she can say a word I notice she’s been marked.

“You found your mate?!”

“Yes! His name is Lance. He’s the lead architect at the construction company. I ran into him last night at dinner. He’s going to talk to you today, Alpha Reo, about housing.”

Reo nods and smiles at that. “He’s a good wolf. I’m happy for y’all.”

“Oh my goddess, I’m so happy for you too.”

I give her another hug then she ask me about what I found out last night. Reo leaves us to talk telling me to come to his office if I need him and to please stay in the house for now. He kisses my forehead and leaves. Pam and I go to one of the couches and I tell her everything I found out yesterday. She is shocked of course but tells me she always new there was something special about me. I confide in her how nervous I am about everything. She’s such a good friend and so calming. She always has some words of wisdom for me. Today was no different. After our conversation her mate walked up to us and she introduces me to him. He is very handsome. Short blonde hair, baby blue eyes, tall and lean. They leave and Blair comes up to me. She sits by me on the couch.

“Hey, Jerica. How are you?”

“I’m great, thank you. How about you? When are you due?”

“Next month. And I’m a fat whale that has to waddle everywhere. I’m ready for this pup to get out.”

“I bet. It’s got to be exciting though.”

“Very. But I’m scared.”

“I can imagine. Everything is going to go well though and I’m sure you’re going to be a great mom. And at least you have your parents and brother as well as your mate. I’m here for you too. I love kids.” I’m a little shy to say that. I’m new here and Reo and I haven’t even mated yet.

“Oh, this baby will love to be with you. He or she will need Aunt Jerica. I’ll definitely take you up on that offer.”

That makes me happy to hear. We talk for a while then Tammy comes up and sits on my other side. She gives me a hug and we all talk for a while then Tammy mentions lunch and we all go to the dinner hall. Joe meets us there and we get our food. I ask about Reo and Joe tells me he’s on his way. We get our food and sit. Tammy is on my right, Joe sits in front of her and Blair sits in front of me. Kevin comes up and sits with Blair. Before I can ask, a plate is set down next to me and arms go around me. Reo kisses the top of my head and sits to my left.

“Hey, Darlin. I’ve missed you today.”

“I’ve missed you too. Everything going good?”

“I had a phone meeting with some of the other alphas. Some of the other packs have already had some encounters with vampires. We have to make sure we’re prepared. One of the smaller cities up north was attacked the other night. They lost 100 citizens.”

“Oh no,” I say. That’s so sad.

“We will be ready,” Kevin says as he rubs Blair’s belly.

They’re adorable. Reo looks over at me and winks. My heart flutters at that. Reo starts talking about having more patrol at the border. Tabitha will also enchant some crystals and bury them around the border as well. No one should be able to get in. Not easily anyway. Hopefully, I’ll be a fast and efficient learner when it comes to magic. The vampires are testing the waters with attacking the lower ranked packs and their cities first. Diamond Heart is one of the strongest packs. When they get to us, that’ll be the big declaration of war. And I keep forgetting, I’m also going to be the luna. I hope I’m ready for this.

Reo’s POV

I was on the phone all day with other alphas about the vampire attacks. They’re starting another war and we have to be ready. I hate those blood sucking leaches. Them and those damn demonic witches want to take over. Take us out then they rule the humans. This world would go to hell and fast. We can’t let that happen. I haven’t seen Jerica since lunch. I want to be with my mate. I need her. Red needs her. Next week is going to be a big week for her. With her powers, we’ll be even more prepared for the war but at the same time I want to put her in a bubble and not let her anywhere near this shit. She’s been abused and is so meek and shy that I’m scared, even with powers, that it’ll be too hard for her. I just have to trust our coven elder and Tabitha that she’ll be prepared. And trust the moon goddess to protect her.

I finally make it to our apartment. Her scent hits me and I immediately relax. She’s in the kitchen cooking dinner. I walk up behind her and wrap my arms around her waist and squeeze. She jumps, startled.

“Sorry, Darlin. I forget you can’t sense me,” I say with a little laugh in my voice.

“That’s ok.”

“What’s for dinner? Spells good.”

“Just some pasta with Alfredo sauce and grilled chicken. And we still have some pie from last night. I’ve decided, your mom’s pumpkin pie is definitely my favorite.”

“That sounds great. And I’m sure Mom will love to hear that.”

I go to shower and change and when I get back to the kitchen the table is set.

“So. Tomorrow night I’d like to take you out on a date.”

“A date? That sounds fun.” Her face lights up at the thought.

“Tabitha is finished with the protection crystals so I feel safe with you on pack grounds. You and Pam can explore tomorrow, go shopping, then tomorrow night I’ll take you to the diner and then to a movie. I wanted to show you my favorite place on the pack as well.”

“I’d love that.”

We talk about our day as we eat. Jerica is a wonderful cook. I thoroughly enjoy dinner. After, we sit on the couch and watch some tv. She lets me hold her close. Having my mate with me is everything. I already feel whole and we haven’t even mated yet. I’m ready for her to wear my mark though. For an alpha and luna there is a ceremony to welcome the luna, then, she is marked in front of the pack. Sex is sex but sex with your fated mate is mating. Mating will link her and me but marking will link her and the pack. They’ll feel a bond to their Luna and she will have the mind link. The alpha and luna have a special connection with the pack. We’ll do the ceremony the first full moon after we mate. I hope feeling the mate bond on her birthday will help her. Being raised around this, she understands the bond and trust me. I show her how much I love her the best I can and I truly feel that she senses it. But, without feeling the bond it is a little harder for her. That and never being with someone. She’s never felt that attraction as a human either, being that she was shunned by her pack. I won’t lie though, I’m glad she was never with another man. I hate how she was treated though. Never again. She’ll only feel love from now on.

After the episode we’re watching goes off we go to bed. Again, I hold her all night. Thank you moon goddess that this is my life now.
