Reo’s POV

I tell my parents everything. This is major news. It also means I’m going to have to be even more cautious with Jerica’s safety. She’ll be in high demand from the vampires. They’ll want her on their side and if they can’t get that then her fate will be like that of her family’s. Luckily for her, her mate is a powerful werewolf and will be able to fight with her and not become a pawn to be used against her like her father for her mother. I’ll have to let the alpha king know as well. For right now though, I’m going to bring my mate some dinner and enjoy our night. Red also wants to come out and have time with her. I walk into our apartment and am hit with her oranges and cream scent. That’s never going to get old. I didn’t think I’d ever find my mate. I figured by the time I turned 30 I would have to find a chosen mate. An alpha needs his mate and a pack needs their luna. I’ll be forever thankful to the moon goddess for giving me Jerica. I go to the kitchen table and set it with our dinner. Steak, mashed potatoes and corn on the cob. My mom also made a pumpkin pie for us for dessert. Momma makes the best desserts but pumpkin pie is my favorite. I need to find out all of Jerica’s favorites. She probably hasn’t had something she likes since she was a kid. I’ll be sure to get her all her favorites. Anything she wants will be hers.

She steps out of the bedroom in her new purple pjs. She looks relaxed and comfortable. Good.

“Enjoy your bath?”

“I did. That is the most luxurious tub. And the jets! I feel so much better.”

“And before bed I’ll message your feet. I noticed you have blisters from your old shoes. I got a cream from Tabitha while I was getting our dinner. She said it’ll heal them over night.”

“Oh, I can put the cream on my feet. You don’t have to message them.”

She’s looking down now. She’s not used to someone truly wanting to do something just for her. I have a lot of shit to change for her. I walk over to her and put my finger under her chin and lift her head to look at me.

“Baby, I want to do it. I want to show you how much I care about you. I want to be the one to heal your wounds. The ones on the outside and the inside. I’m your mate. It makes me happy to be there for you.”

Then I kiss her forehead and lead her to the table for dinner. Her eyes are huge. I don’t think she’s ever seen so much food.

“I won’t be able to finish this.”

“That’s ok Darlin, I’ll help you finish it.”

I smile at her and she digs in. We talk about our lives some more. She tells me how she nervous but excited to get her powers. I can tell she’s nervous about feeling the mate bond too. She’s innocent and that’s a lot. Plus, she is still young. The thing is though, I’ve never been with anyone either. I’ve waited on my mate. I decide I’ll go ahead and bring that up.

“I know you’re nervous about mating. I wanted to tell you. I’ve never been with another woman. I’ve saved myself for my mate.”

She looks shocked. Mouth hanging open and eyes wide. It’s adorable.

“You look surprised,” I say.

“It’s just, you’re 27 and an alpha...”

“And?”

She looks at the table. She’s turning beet red. I wonder what’s going through that gorgeous mind of hers.

“And you’re very good looking. Some would say… sexy.” She speaks very low and completely whispers the word sexy.

“Are you some?” I ask her with a smirk.

“Yes.” Even with my wolf hearing I almost didn’t catch that. She finally looks at me and I wink at her. I didn’t think she could be redder but I was wrong. She actually blushes even deeper and looks back down again.

“Well, this sexy wolf thinks you are the most gorgeous woman that has ever walked this earth.”

I see her smile even though she’s still looking down.

“Thank you,” she whispers.

I grab her hand and squeeze it. I change the subject so that she will be able to look up at me again. After we eat, she enjoyed two pieces of pie by the way, we head to the living room. I ask her if she wants to meet Red. She’s very excited. The living room has enough room for me to shift so I start to strip. She closes her eyes. Not ready for all that yet. I shift and Red makes a noise to let her know. When she looks up she smiles. She gets up and walks to me. Red sits. He’s almost her hight when sitting. She starts to pet us. It feels so good.

“You’re so beautiful. Now I see why your name is Red.” She smiles.

Red is loving the attention. She leans over and hugs us. She rubs her face in our fur. Red sniffs her neck. Her smell is intoxicating. After she cuddles us for while she moves back to the couch.

“It’s getting late. You wanna change back now?”

I nod and she closes her eyes again. Once I’m dressed I go sit by her.

“Are you ready for bed, Darlin?”

“Um…?”

“I want you in my bed with me. I need you close. You can trust I won’t do anything you don’t want me to.”

“I know I can. Ok. Let’s go to bed.”

We get up and I take her hand. I usually sleep in my boxer briefs but tonight I put on some work out shorts. I sit on the edge of the bed and pat it. She sits beside me and I grab her feet and rub them with the cream Tabitha gave me and put some socks on her feet. When we get in bed I ask if I can hold her. She slides over to me and lays her head on my chest and I wrap my arms around her and hold her close. This is how it’s supposed to be. Me and my mate. I have the best sleep I’ve ever had that night.
