After the ritual, we both stride out of the hall, his hand still clutching onto mine when my mother stood before us, a smile on her face. 

“Oh my pretty baby is now a Luna, I can recall vividly the first time that I took you away from the orphanage home, you were so tiny, but look at you now eighteen and a full–grown woman” 

There was so much smile on her l*ps that one would think we have always had the mother and daughter bond, but beneath all that far smile, I could tell that she was cooking something devious. 

“Mrs. If you have nothing else to say, then get off the way, I need to return to the pack” 

“I am sorry Your Majesty, but there is one last ritual Chloe needs to go through before she can finally depart” 

“And why wasn’t I informed of it beforehand?” 

“I apologize Your Majesty, but this is just a linking between mother and daughter and it is usually done privately, just between the both of us and I promise you that it won’t take long” 

He averted his gaze at me, as usual, seeking my opinion, but this was my mother that we were talking about and I wasn’t sure how to react. 

“Chloe if you do not want to go through whatever ritual she is talking about, then you do not have to, I promise you that no one will dare force you” 

“It is fine Your Majesty, I would like to say my last goodbye to her” He released his grip around my wrist, and even as I followed Mother upstairs, my heart was pounding heavily, the thought of what she had installed for me sent chills down my spine. 

Once we were both inside her room, she twisted the door knob and turned around 19 me, the fake smile that filled her face the entire time disappeared like they were never there. 

“Congratulations Chloe, the Lycan king did not seem so much like a beast as he has always been described, but that doesn’t mean he is not going to devour you once you get to his pack, how about I give you my wedding gift and end your suffering once and for all!” 

She slid the cup of Coffee that was lying on the table, no doubt it had just been prepared and this wouldn’t be the first time she had tried to poison me. 

A few years ago, I almost lost my life after I was poisoned with wolfsbane, although both murderer and father tried to find the culprit behind it, whoever did it left no trace and although I knew it was my mother, I could not say a word to anyone while I lived and are in that mansion with fear of what might happen to me at any moment. 

But here she was handing me a cup of coffee and referring to it as a departing gift. “Mother, what is this?” I asked although I was fully aware, she knew that I hadn’t gotten over the trauma of the last time that I was poisoned, and yet on this special day, she wanted me to be reminded of how many

hours my breath choked in my lungs that days, while I gasped for breath and a way out of my 

mystery. 

“Come on Chloe! Do not act naïve, you told everyone on that fateful day that you did not know who tried to poison you, but I know you saw me put the wolfsbane into your food, yet you kept quiet and died in silence all because you were trying to be the good daughter that will never be accepted into the family”

She giggled so loud as her voice echoed through the room, the event that occurred that day filled. my memory, the feeling of your chest burning from the wolfsbane was something that I could not forget, it haunted me every night and now she was here on purpose to torment me with the trauma that I fought with all my life. 

“Drink it Chloe and get rid of all your mystery, you do not have to be at the mercy of the Lycan king or anyone else, you can finally find peace in the afterworld” 

She held the cup and walked up towards me, a devious smile curled up her l*ps and I could feel my heart burning while I choked up in my tears. 

“Please. Please. Mother do not take my life away…. “I gasped in my tears but she held down my mouth, ready to force the coffee down my throat. The pain emerged from the pit of my stomach, I could feel all the strain of my hair rise, I wasn’t ready to go through that pain again, the trauma was too much for me to endure. 

Just then, there was a loud smack at the door, the Lycan king who had shifted into his Lycan form, broke the door in just one attempt. He was so huge, taller than anything that I had ever seen, his eyes red and his entire b*dy hairy and filled with scars, this was not just his Lycan, indeed there was a beast that lived inside of him. 

“How dare you try to hurt my Luna!” His voice was deep, dark, and echoed through the entire pack as it sent chills down my spine, mother tried to run away but he held her and forced the cup of coffee down her throat. 

She fell on the floor, her entire b*dy in pain, but he was not satisfied with the result yet, he was ready to devour her until there was nothing left of her. Everyone rushed into the room as my father went on his knees begging but all his pleas were to no avail. 

“Your majesty! It is enough, we need to leave now!!” His gemma roared in an attempt to stop him from taking any action that he was going to regret.
