Demon Pov

The week passed by as we started planning the construction of the hospital, accepting members, introducing the garden witch to the human famers, building a garden, getting all the kids enrolled into school and making sure that they all actually had birth certificate and socials.

I flip through the planner that Lihua made that is connected to her notebook that she carries around.

Onyx is to help Yvonna to possibly rearrange the living situations or add on to the pack house.

Listen to Star’s sob story at 3.

Get school supplies for the children so they can start class in January.

Murder the Horn pack in two weeks and the Slave Pack either a 3 days later or the month after that.

Lihua handwriting appears on the little square for today.

Sighing I rub my eyes waiting on her to finish.

Maybe I need reading glasses like Zhaire.

I look back to the calendar and squint a little at Lihua small handwriting.

Remember to have lunch with Onyx…all she ate today was a sharing size bag of M&Ms. Would suggest that you also eat with Star and get that over with as well.

I nod my head and make a request to the cook, a lunch for 3 today and for a lunch for the boys if they hadn’t eaten yet.

I grab some paperwork that needs to be done before contacting Bianca, Zack’s vampire mate, asking her to bring Star to the dining hall.

The oak door to my right is the only thing keeping me away from my evil little woman.

Shadow chuckles, “she going to glare at you for thinking that.”

I smirk, “You thought it too so if I sink so do you.”

Opening the door, Onyx looks up at me with the very glare that darkens her eyes to a deep blue that I love.

“Evil little woman”

I smile all innocently to her, “I love you”

Rolling her eyes and turning back to her computer, I know I’m safe.

I laugh as she calls me a meanie while going through her purple planner.

“Lihua moved the appointment with Star to now, that way we can get it over with. Star keeps bugging her about it and not giving her any amount of peace.”

She rolls her eyes again, “Her being pushy isn’t going to make things go any faster but it will go much slower. Hell from what the others are saying most of her pack don’t have names and a few had their tongues removed before they ran. Trying to make everything legal for them is difficult already her being extra is not helping.”

Leaning against the chair across from her, “You need me to take any of them for you?”

Rubbing her neck she sighs, “No you still have all the children to do and getting them ready for school in what two months. I can handle this much but if we do accept any more people then I’ll need help and I will ask you, okay?”

I nod and watch Onyx stretch before she stands up grabbing some paperwork with her as well, “Alright let’s go listen to her sob story and see what else she got to say.”

Opening the door to the hallway we step out together before I went back and got a pen knowing that she didn’t bring one.

Jogging a little I catch up with Onyx and we walk side by side into the dining hall, seeing the boys with a group of children eating and laughing calms my soul and brings me peace.

I ruffle both of their hair as Onyx blows a kiss before we sit at table together about to do rock paper scissor to see who was going to peak into the kitchen when the cook comes out of said kitchen shaking his head, “You two are hopeless, I am not mean enough for you to be doing rock paper scissor to check on your food.”

I don’t say anything just looked away not wanting to tell the old man that what he just said is bullshit. Like the guy, he would probably be a father figure for me later in the future but the minute you try to question him is the minute you could die.

I look to Onyx to see her doing the same thing causing a smile to rest on my face.

“You two are cute and will make a strong couple.”

The grizzly old man laughs and ruffles my hair ruining the style that I had it before. I hear Alex and Micky snickering as well in the background with him. “The food is done it’s on the counter under the little heat thing that keeps it warm. Make sure to eat it you two. Don’t think I seen either one of you eat breakfast today so eat or you both will be eating twice for dinner.”

Onyx gives him a smile standing up, “Of course Espen. Thank you for your hard work and everything you do.”

Espen huffs turning a little red before nodding and muttering going back into the with Onyx following.

Soon after Onyx gives me a plate of food and we talk about random weird things while eating and waiting for Star to show up.

Once she did finally show up, our plates were cleaned and most of the people in the room left.

“Good afternoon, Chieftains”

I sign some more paperwork and look at the watch Onyx got me, “You know when you irritate the person that got you a meeting with us and then show up 20 minutes late that’s considered extremely disrespectful. Sit down and tell us what you want.”

She apologized for a little bit before Onyx stated if she didn’t get to the point she was leaving.

Star told us how she was also part of the Royal pack but not directly with the family. She was a slave for the family in charge with security, “I would get dragged around with the head of the family and he would quiz me on the security if I got it wrong then one of his men can have me for a week and do as they pleased without killing me. If I got it right, then I lived without torture for another day. It was a game to him but to me it became a weapon that I used later to kill him and run with the slaves of the household.”

She sighs running a hand through her hair, “I know the entire layout of the royal pack and if they are still as prideful as I think then the way they have security hasn’t changed either. I would like to help you guys take down the Royal pack, but you have to let the slaves live.”

Crossing my arms and feeling an eyebrow raised, “You’re serious, aren’t you?”

She nods looking in between the two of us, “Yes because they are innocent.”

I bark a laugh, “Even if they are innocent, I wouldn’t care. There are wolves who are only slaves in title. You were a slave to one family so you wouldn’t know that there are others that will kill and die for their masters.”

“That’s only because they are brainwashed.”

Onyx slams her hand on the table, “For you to be backtalking him you must be pretty damn bold. So bold that you and the others must have changed your minds about being in this pack.”

Star gasp, “No chieftains I apologize I stepped out of line.”

I gently grasp Onyx’s hand and started rubbing the palm hoping that it will help with the sting.

“Star if I give the slaves a chance to be free and they don’t take it then they will die. I don’t care what their reason for not leaving, if they stay then they will die with the rest of their pack. No exceptions. If you try to help them then you will die with them is that understood?”

She nods her head quickly.

“Good and if are being honest here. I don’t need you. I can kill you right now and still get what I want. Because I am in a good mood, I will give you one more chance but the next time you try to overstep boundaries I will kill you.”

“Thank you, chieftain I understand and apologize again for my rudeness.”

Ignoring her I take some calming breaths filled with Onyx’s scent. Onyx’s sweet voice dismisses her, sending her back to the motel in the human town.

Onyx doesn’t say anything else and lays her head on my shoulder causing me to relax even further and placing my head on top of hers.

We stayed like that for a while until Felix come into the room, stopped in front of our table and bowed to us, “Chieftains, I found Knox and given him the phone like you asked.”

I nod to him as he gives the other two flip phones to us, “Thanks Felix there should be some blood in the cooler or you could go hunting but remember it has to be at least three towns over if you do.”

“Thank you, chieftains. I will make sure to eat but there is something else I need to tell you.”

Onyx gives a small smile, “And what’s that?”

“It seems that the Horn pack is trying to attack.”
