54. Sadistic son of a ...

“So, all we have to do is find the blue pear!” Vic told me and I had listened to both Doreen and her as if my ears were broken.

“The blue pear?” I asked them both. “Yes, haven’t you been listening?” Vic looked at me, as if I was crazy.

“You do realise that pears are green?” I asked them again. “Oh! That’s not the point! We just have to find the missing link, and then everything will be clear to us.” Vic continued.

“So, and what if we have Dennis his motive? What are we going to do about it?” I asked them then.

“Do we have to come up with everything? Doreen is clearly the brain here and you are the muscle, you have to do something as well!” Vic scolded me and Doreen chuckled wildly, as she was clearly enjoying the whole situation of my sister becoming angry at me.

But they were right about one thing, it was strange that when we were attacked in the barn, Dennis had asked about the whereabouts of the hunter leader. Why did he want to see Damien? What was his motive?

And also, by luring all the Alphas to one spot, he would endanger my pack, should Damien know about this party. Because, being the hunter King himself, he wouldn’t let this chance go to waste.

It’s funny really, that I received a call from one of our neighbouring packs, to ask me if I had been invited to Maxwell’s meeting too. Because, as I hadn’t been invited, I instantly knew that Jack and Doreen were still alive, otherwise Maxwell wouldn’t have planned for a gathering to plan a war against the hunter King!

The bad side of this was, was that the hunter King was fully aware of them being alive as well, as his hunters still hadn’t returned to him. So, to take matters into my own hands, I had called the King myself.

“I don’t get it, you are going to sacrifice your own kind, just to pay me off?” He asked me.

“Yes, I will grant you a room filled with Alphas, but you keep me alive and free. Then I will take up the rank as King of the shifters and you will remain King of the hunters. With a shit load of new experiments in your laboratory, that is.” I slyly remarked.

I don’t want to put any more of my kind in jeopardy, but in order for me to get close to the hunter King himself, to get my revenge, I needed something to lure him to me.

“But, I need you to be there too.” I pushed on.

“And why should I do that?”

“I need to see the face of your daughter, when she realizes that you are part of this. I want her to realize that she never should have mingled herself into the shifter world! I want her out of the picture and you are the only one that can succeed enough to please my own torture!” I yelled, giving out commands to the one that will face my wrath in the end!

“Besides if you don’t come here, there is no deal. I will then use all the Alphas to fight against your hunters, and you know that you can’t deal with a room filled with more testosterone than your whole army can gather up themselves.”

“And how are you going to deliver them to me, without my hunters getting killed, should I decide to come and visit you?” He then angrily commented.

“That’s my job, I will succeed with my part of the deal, once you are in my office.” I said.

“Fine! I’ll meet you then.” He said and hung up on me.

I put the phone down and looked at the family tree that was painted with golden frames, in one of the old books that my father had owned. I had it stored away in a locked cabinet inside my own room, but now it laid down on Jack’s old desk, opened upon the page with that idiotic picture of my grandfather’s brother and his mate. The Berestine family line has always been followed on the female genes, never the male ones, and because of that, my grandfather’s brother didn’t want to take up the title of King.

He had been too proud to choose for that way of life, all he wanted was to keep his own title going as Alpha of the pack where I had been born in. He was old-fashioned and didn’t want his last name to go away in vain. Even though he still had a brother with the same name, my grandfather, he still wanted to proceed the lineage of my great-grandfather on his own.

He had said that my grandfather wasn’t worthy enough to take upon the title of Alpha, that he was nothing more than Beta material, for the rest of his life! Well, see where he had been so wrong about that! I had managed as first of the family line of my grandfather, to take up on the role of Alpha. It might not be in the traditional way, but I am sitting at that chair now!

But I wanted more!

My grandfather’s brother should have just taken control as King! He should have just changed the way everything was and should have changed the law where it was stated that the women of the royal family rules! But no! His arrogant ass only wanted to be the Alpha, the leader of his own pack!

But if I want to change that stupid law myself, I need to be able to take out every single person that stands in my way!

At first, that was only going to be Damien, as I had overheard a conversation between my father and grandfather about him being the human husband of our rightful Queen, and thus making him the rightful King of the shifters too. But no one knew about them having a daughter, as that was only made clear to me, when Jack had told me about her.

So, now I have to take out not only the hunter King, but also my dearest second-degree-cousin, named Doreen, and her mate, Jack, so that I’m the last remaining relative alive, to take up on the throne of shifter King!

My pack may have been massacred by the hunter King, in his young days, when he found out that shifters existed. And I may have been the last remaining person of that pack, but I will seek revenge for what that stupid family has done to mine!

I scrunched up an invoice where my fake last name had been used as customer. No one knew my real last name, so no one knows about my heritage either. Besides Jack’s parents that is, and because of that, I had to threaten them to make me the Beta, as otherwise their beloved son wouldn’t reach his next birthday.

It was comical to see how Jack responded when he found out that his parents had been killed in a rogue attack on his pack, a few weeks later! Or had that been my doing? Oh well, who cares? I thought to myself while laughing wholeheartedly!

“My family name will rule again! But this time I’m taking the lead! Over all!” I said softly and chuckled greedily.

A muffled voice came out of the corner of the office.

“Oh, you were still here? Sorry my love, but you won’t get a chance to get back to your pack, in fact you don’t get to live through this at all, as you’ve just heard me say all these things.” I whispered to the tiny woman, while she was gagged and tied up. “Just know that I did have fun with you, when you screamed as I plunged into your back hole.” I said while caressing her wet cheek, as tears were streaming down her face.

I took her face in my hands and rubbed the tears away. “Don’t worry, this won’t hurt much. It’s over in a...” I snapped her neck with ease. “…heartbeat.”

It’s a shame really, that I can’t sell her off to some humans now, as she would have brought in plenty of money. But I guess that the others in the barn in the north, would just have to be sufficient enough.

Money was slowly rolling in, from the new business I had started. It wasn’t something that I particularly liked to do, but Jack had left me with no other option. He had taken all my money, and I needed more money if I wanted to become King. It takes a lot of cash to prepare for the party and for all the other stuff that I needed, to keep those Alphas subdued, once they were all bundled up together. Who knew that threatening or killing people costs so much!?

“Great, now I’m annoyed and hungry!” I chuckled and walked out of the office. “Clean the mess in my office!” I yelled to one of the guards standing at my door, and as they walked in I heard them gasp, at which I smiled.
