Twisted Ties of Love
Chapter 256

When Brett heard a scream from the bathroom, he rushed in right away. Seeing Izabella lying on the floor, he felt like his soul was struck hard for a moment.

Before his brain could react, he hurriedly picked her up and took her to the nearest hospital.

The examination results weren't promising. Izabella's health had never been great, and though she'd been trying to hold on, her stomach was deteriorating step by step. Even the world's most advanced cancer drugs couldn't cure her, only providing some relief.

The strawberry cake she'd eaten almost killed her because she was allergic to strawberries.

As Brett recalled the past, he remembered how Izabella loved strawberries yet he never saw her eat them.

Izabella lay in bed, having the same dream from that night again. This time, the scene was clearer, and she could hear the man's voice.

The man in the white shirt walked up to her, holding a pink colored donut: "Cry Baby, eat this and don't cry, alright?"

She could hear it clearly, but it wasn't Brett's voice.

Who was the man in her dream?

In her foggy state, the dream changed, and this time the man, lying in a pool of blood, told her, "I can't carry you home this time."

Izabella woke up in tears, who was the person in her dream? Why did it hurt so much just to think about it? Was it really only a dream? Why did it feel like a lifetime away, like she'd experienced it herself? Izabella knew she had lost some important memories, unrelated to Brett, but she couldn't bring herself to tell him.

So when Brett anxiously asked her what was wrong, she lied and said she'd had a nightmare where she was about to die.

Brett's worry was real, maybe even too much, as if she were truly dying.

Izabella stayed in the hospital for a few more days before the doctor said she could go home to rest, then Brett took her back.

She still took her medicine on time, but she secretly didn't swallow the pill at night.

Brett seemed to care more about the white pill she took at night, always watching her swallow it.

Izabella threw the pill in her mouth and quietly held it against her rear teeth with her tongue while drinking water. As soon as Brett left, she quickly spit the pill into the toilet and rinsed her mouth until the bitterness was gone.

She'd always been suspicious of what that pill at night was for. They said it was a treatment for her nerves and memory restoration, but she felt more and more dizzy and forgetful.

She even got mad at Brett, saying she didn't want to take it at night, but he didn't agree and obviously forced her to.

Even if she said she could live without her memories, Brett still insisted she take the pill every day.

What kind of pill was it? Izabella had no clue since it was in a bottle without any labels, making it untraceable.

Once she started spitting out the pill secretly, Izabella found her brain didn't feel any discomfort at all, and her spirit was even better than before. She also dreamed clearer dreams every night. "Can I call you Bella?"

"Bella, I'm not hurt at all. Don't be sad for me, and don't like Brett. He's not worth it."

The gunshot was deafening, and Izabella suddenly woke up, blurting out, "Ryker!"

Her mind was in turmoil, and her heart seemed to stop. She lay in Brett's arms, feeling his warmth but no warmth at all.

"Whose name did you just call?" A deep, muffled voice came from above.

Izabella stared wide-eyed, her eyes and nose aching. Staring blankly at Brett's jaw, she felt deaf, all she could hear was a buzzing noise.

Brett asked again, "What did you dream about?" He hugged her tightly, making it hard for her to breathe.

Izabella mumbled, "I forgot. Did I just scream out loud?"

Brett turned on the lamp, casting an orange glow over the room and Izabella's face.

With a bewildered look on her face and foggy eyes, Izabella was sweaty. "I forgot what I just dreamt about. I think it was about a dead person. You said I just talked in my sleep? What did I say? Did you hear it clearly?" Her face was full of confusion, not a hint of lying.

Brett gently wiped the sweat off her forehead, "I didn't hear it either. If you can't remember, forget it. It was just a nightmare."

Izabella nodded and forced a smile before snuggling into Brett's arms like a cat, finding a comfortable position, and closing her eyes.

In the dim light, Brett looked at her peaceful sleeping face, the name "Ryker" echoing in his mind.

He couldn't help but hold Izabella even tighter.

Izabella wasn't asleep, still bothered by the dream. It was the clearest one she'd had recently, and she even shouted out the name, "Ryker". Who was he? Why couldn't she remember anything about him outside the dream? Why did that name cause her so much heartache?

Her instinct told her "Ryker" was someone important to her. And were the events in her dream true? Just thinking about it made her want to cry.

But she couldn't cry, she couldn't let Brett notice anything.

In fact, Izabella couldn't understand why she didn't want Brett to know about her nightmare and the name she shouted.

She leaned on Brett's chest, listening to his heartbeat, but she couldn't find any peace.

She tightly clung to the bracelet on her wrist, which she'd never taken off since Brett put it on her. To remove the bracelet, she needed Brett's key. Once the bracelet was unlocked, the lock would open automatically.

She tugged at the lock on the bracelet, feeling it wasn't a bracelet on her wrist but a shackle. She couldn't break free, and the only way to escape was to cut off her own arm.

Brett couldn't sleep all night. He controlled Izabella's memory but not her dreams. Lately, she'd been having nightmares, and today's was especially frightening to him.

This was definitely not a good sign, man. He was worried that Izabella's gonna get her memory back in her dreams.

If Izabella really did get her memory back, what was he supposed to do? Can she really keep her promise and never leave him, even if she got her memory back, just like she said at the beginning?
