"Mr. Krueger, Brett's back in J City, and there's still no news about the ore from Starry Brilliance Island. Do you think it's already been moved to J City?" A standing subordinate with gold-rimmed glasses

respectfully asked the man lounging on the sofa.

The man was sitting there relaxed, with his long right leg casually resting on the coffee table, a tablet in his right hand, and a cigarette in his left hand. As his fingers moved slightly, blue-gray smoke rose, and the ashes fell to the ground with sparks.

Hearing his subordinate's words, he took a drag on the cigarette and glanced over at him.

The subordinate immediately shut up, not even daring to breathe. With just a look from the man, he knew that he couldn't afford to disturb him now, or the consequences would be miserable.

As the room quieted down, the man continued to stare at the screen, watching a one-hourvideo.

The sound leaked out as the video played; it was the clip he had recorded when he tortured Izabella in the past.

Seeing exciting parts, he licked his lips, and his eyes flashed with a bright light. Izabella's pitiful expression as she was tied to the wooden board made his heart race.

The sadistic side of him that he had suppressed deep inside was bursting out as he watched the video. The adrenaline rushed through his veins, and even his fingertips were trembling with excitement. Izabella was both interesting and beautiful. She might not be the most beautiful woman he had ever seen, but something about her resilience was irresistible. Other women would probably break easily, but Izabella was like a cactus, and he enjoyed plucking the spines.

Seeing Izabella's calm face gradually crumble and beg for mercy on the ground brought him immense satisfaction, and he often desired to possess her.

What a pity that he knew she was Brett's woman, and he wasn't interested.

He couldn't help but wonder what Brett was thinking when he picked up the ragged woman that day.

Did he particularly want to kill him?

The man's mouth curled up in a teasing smile, and as he watched Izabella in the video crying out in pain from the hallucinogenic injection, he paused the video and replayed it.

He had watched this clip hundreds of times and still hadn't grown tired of it. It was just a whim to play with her, but he didn't expect to become so obsessed.

He even wanted to capture Izabella again and keep her in a cage in his basement for his daily amusement.

This rare obsession with something that belonged to Brett was fascinating, yet frustrating.

As long as it was Brett's, he wanted it. If he couldn't have it, he would destroy it.

But he didn't want to kill this woman; even though he had been so cruel to her, he remained strangely attached.

For someone who enjoyed tormenting others, Izabella was the first person he didn't want to kill outright. An unusual emotion welled up inside him, causing him to crush the cigarette in his hand and flick it accurately into the trash can.

"J City?" He rewound the video to hear Izabella's words. It did look like she said J City.

The sound was damaged, and even at the highest volume, it was hard to decipher. When he had used a lie detector on Izabella, she had repeatedly claimed not to know anything about it.

The lie detector proved she was lying, but later, he found out that the lie detector had been broken from the start.

So did Izabella lie? Did she know about the ore on Starry Brilliance Island?

"Can you tell what she's saying?"

The subordinate listened closely and hesitated. "It should be J City," he said, considering that during the video, the man was holding a map and asking if J City was the place, so she might have replied accordingly.

"Should be?" The man played the video further and suddenly smiled mysteriously.

The subordinate became anxious, with his legs shaking, and he didn't dare say a word.

"I thought she was saying J City, too, but when I saw her expression afterward, I realized she wasn't saying those words." Izabella's subsequent expression seemed to be mocking herself, and he already had a guess that was getting close to the correct answer.

With a smack, he tossed the tablet aside.

"What she just said was not J City, but Brett." He also heard her snarl, "I hate you."

The subordinate didn't initially agree but after being reminded, the more they listened, the more they found it reasonable.. The lip shapes did match.

This was too intriguing...

The man's eyes brightened as he learned the truth. The fact that Izabella could transfer her hatred to Brett suited him perfectly. As long as she hated Brett, she could be manipulated and help him get the ore. What could be more mesmerizing than being hated by the person you love the most?

"You just said Brett went to J City?" Asked the man.

"Yes, he took a flight at two o'clock this afternoon." Replied the subordinate.

The man's face gradually returned to calm. He stared at the tablet on the coffee table, leaned back against the couch, and crossed his legs.

The subordinate didn't interrupt him.

After a while, the man muttered to himself, "Since Brett's gone to J City, Izabella must be there too."

The subordinate thought for a moment and replied, "There was indeed a woman with him, but she seemed to have amnesia." "Amnesia?" The man squinted.

"I just got the news. Brett has kept it a secret, so we need to investigate further." Answered the subordinate.

The man listened quietly, pondering why Izabella merely had amnesia after the five injections, while others would have gone insane.

His hand rested on the couch armrest, and his fingers tapped lightly-a moment of silence.

"Book me a flight to J City for the day after tomorrow." Ordered the man.

The subordinate complied and left the room, whilst the man continued to watch the video, his natural smile gradually disappearing. One play just wasn't enough—he wanted to possess Izabella wholly.

"We'll meet again soon."
