Twisted Ties of Love
Chapter 112

The next morning, Amelia called in a psychiatrist to see Izabella. She had gone home the previous night and had no idea that Izabella was experiencing auditory hallucinations.

It wasn't until the psychiatrist went in that the nurse taking care of Izabella told Amelia about the situation last night.

Amelia showed no emotion.

At this moment, only the psychologist and Izabella were in the ward, even Brett was asked to step out and wait quietly for the result.

Half an hour later, there came a hysterical cry from inside.

Izabella's illness had flared up again.

This time the psychiatrist did not inject her with a sedative but instead tied her to the bed and stuffed a towel in her mouth to prevent her from biting herself and to protect her throat.

Brett felt anxious and immediately pushed open the door and rushed in.

"What are you doing?!" Seeing Izabella tied up tightly on the bed, Brett pissed off.

The psychiatrist explained, "Ms. Salotti's condition has flared up, if we don't do this, she'll hurt herself."

"Why didn't you give her a sedative?"

The doctor was somewhat helpless. "Have you ever seen someone injected with a sedative several times in one day? Too much sedative can damage her brain nerves. Her nerves are already fragile, it's bette to let her vent like this."

Brett was stunned. He stared at Izabella on the bed, who was struggling in pain, her eyes dull.

Brett wanted to go over and touch her but had to force himself to suppress the desire.

Amelia stood at the door and glanced at Izabella and then at the silent Brett. When Brett came out, she spoke, "are you regret now?"

Regretting what? Brett pursed his thin lips without answering.

Amelia laughed, whether he regretted it or not, he knew in his heart. But what use was regret? Guilt and self-blame were the cheapest things in the world.

Izabella struggled for 10 minutes and finally collapsed on the bed, her chest heaving, panting heavily but gradually calming down.

The doctor opened the door, "where is the patient's family member, please come with me."

Brett hesitated for a moment, and when Amelia entered the ward, he followed the doctor to his office.

"Is the patient your wife?" The psychologist asked casually.

"Yes."

"She has moderate depression and schizophrenia, which causes hallucinations."

He had pretty much known this result the night before, but when the psychiatrist confirmed it, he still found it hard to accept - it was like a bolt out of the blue.

"What happened before the onset of her illness? You need to tell me in detail, such as what you did to her and what you said." Izabella's illness was severe. Apart from silence, she would scream shrilly, completely losing her reason.

Brett had no choice but to tell the psychiatrist everything that had happened before and after.

After listening, the doctor could only think in his head, "Beast!"

"After a miscarriage, a woman is at her most vulnerable, and you actually told her that you will give her next child to another woman?!" What was this man thinking?

Brett's face was cold. "I was furious at the time, and I didn't think she would be so fragile."

The psychologist was choked by his words. After a pause, he said, "Fragile or not, it's no excuse for you to hurt her. To be honest, her current state is very bad, and the things you said to her caused her great harm."

Brett couldn't imagine what kind of pain Izabella was going through right now. He had always been superior in life and could not empathize with others.

"Right now, the patient has shut herself in a dark room. I can't communicate with her normally, so the only option left is to try hypnosis. Do you agree?" Brett hesitated for a moment and then nodded.

The psychiatrist took a deep breath, took out a form from his drawer, and asked Brett to fill it in.

While Brett filled the form, the doctor entered the patient's information into the computer and prescribed medication, mainly for soothing the nerves and reducing stress.

After Brett finished filling out the form, the psychiatrist made sure everything was alright, stamped it, and tore off the next page to give to him.

"Go to the pharmacy to get the medicine, and use less sedative."

After knowing Izabella's situation, the psychiatrist's words somewhat subdued Brett.

Brett took the prescription and went to the pharmacy to line up to buy the medicine without any delay. The daily dosage was written on the medicine box.

When Brett came back, he found Amelia standing in the corridor, surrounded by several people, including both patients at the hospital and their family members, who seemed to be urgently discussing something with Amelia.

Brett didn't know what had happened and couldn't hear the voices from a distance. It wasn't until he got closer that he heard those people discussing Izabella.

Seeing Brett coming, one of the middle-aged women quickly stepped forward and asked, "You're the family member of the patient in this room, right?"

Brett's expression remained unchanged. "What happened?"

"What happened?" The woman sneered. "She's been going crazy and disturbing the peace at night. Who knows if she'll hurt someone when she gets sick? Hurry up and send her to the mental ward."
