The Wrong Woman
The wrong Woman novel by Ginny Not Genie Chapter 395

After stowing her clothes in the wardrobe, Mila approached Nathan. She bent down to look at the screen of his laptop.

However, her view was swiftly obscured by his head. Nathan was startled, his gaze softening as he affectionately observed her profile.

Mila noticed he was focused on work, with multiple pop-up windows on the screen: emails, military inventory sheets, meeting groups, and other tabs.

While maintaining her bent posture, Mila slowly turned her head toward him.

Being this close, Nathan couldn't help but notice her radiant skin. He also caught a subtle scent of the enticing fragrance from her hair.

His Adam's apple bobbed up and down, and his gaze grew even more intense.

In a soft voice, Mila urged, "Nate, it's time for you to rest. Put your work aside for a while."

With her words, Nathan slowly closed his laptop.

Mila smiled, pleased, as she took the laptop from Nathan's hands and placed it on a table across the room.

"Nate, would you like to freshen up or take a bath?" Mila asked, keeping a slight distance but attempting to sound composed despite her nerves.

Glancing at his phone, Nathan checked the time—it was already 8:00 pm. "You don't need to worry about me. Go back to your room and rest.”

Mila's voice carried a touch of shyness as she approached him, her hands clasped behind her back. "I'd like to sleep with you tonight.”

Taken aback, Nathan furrowed his brow.

Mila hurriedly explained, "Don't misunderstand. I just want to be on hand in case you need anything during the night, like water or help to the bathroom.”

Nathan maintained a serious expression, his intense gaze fixed on her. It left Mila uncertain about his thoughts.

Pointing toward the spacious bed, Mila remarked, "You have a king-size bed. There's plenty of space. I promise I won't disturb your wound.”

Nathan offered a gentle smile, his tone tinged with a touch of helplessness. "Mila, I have my phone. If I need anything, I'll just call you. You don't have to sleep with me."

"But I'm concerned,” Mila insisted.

Nathan raised an eyebrow, and his voice softened with a touch of resignation. "So, sleeping next to me will help calm your worries?"

"I just want to look after you.”

"We're not married, nor are we a couple,” Nathan reminded her.

Mila chuckled lightly, maintaining her composure. "That's alright. Even when we were married, you weren't particularly attentive. With the way you are now, you don't even have the strength to stand up properly.”

Her words struck a blow to Nathan's pride. Forcing a bitter smile, Nathan slowly closed his eyes and pretended to doze off against the headboard. "Do as you wish," he said softly.

With his consent secured, Mila beamed with joy. Then, she swiftly headed into the bathroom, filling the bathtub with warm water.

Moments later, Mila emerged from the bathroom. Linking her arm with Nathan's, she said, "Nate, the water is ready. Shall we take a bath?"

She helped Nathan out of bed, his hand resting on her shoulder. He looked at her with a hint of skepticism and asked, "We?"

As they made their way to the bathroom, Mila supported Nathan's waist with one hand. "I'll help you with bathing, but I won't join you in the tub.”

Nathan replied, "You don't have to help. I can handle it by myself."

"I'm worried. What if you faint or slip in the bathroom?"

"I'm not incapacitated, nor am I a toddler.”

"I don't care, I just want to make sure you're safe.”

Nathan explained softly, "Mila, this feels inappropriate. We're not even in a relationship.”

"Nate, I didn't think you were this much of a prude,” Mila replied confidently, looking up at him with a composed gaze.

Nathan sighed, rendered speechless by her response.

In the bathroom, Mila checked the water temperature with her hand, finding it suitable. She then turned to help Nathan undress.

Nathan awkwardly grabbed her wrist, a touch of embarrassment in his voice. "Are you sure about helping me bathe?"

Mila nodded earnestly.

"Don’t you feel awkward?" he asked once more.

Mila replied firmly, “I'm just here to help you with your bath. There's nothing to feel awkward about.”

Observing her calm and composed demeanor, Nathan eventually went along with her suggestion. As he removed his shirt, he stole a glance at Mila, anticipating her reaction.

She stood frozen, her eyes showing a hint of embarrassment as her cheeks gradually reddened. Nathan couldn't help but smirk as he pulled down his pants. In the next moment, Mila quickly turned around, her back facing him.
