Henrietta was conscious and I know it was dangerous to leave her alone in that manor with her werewolf handmaiden. Questions still lingered in my head about what happened to her as I could not explain it no matter how much I thought about it.

I started thinking that maybe my eyes were just deceiving me earlier. Perhaps the color of her eyes was still the same and I saw differently because of the light. Perhaps the fangs I saw were not even there, because how could one become a vampice when her mother is a werewolf and her father is human?

The vampires that attacked her earlier did not bite her. The wounds were already gone and she should be back to normal. But why?

She shifted from the bed and her forehead knotted. The windows were no good in her chamber so I decided to put her in a different one. Aiden, Dreyfus, and Aran will be capturing those vampires we put in the catacombs and I trust they’d do well with it. In the meantime, I need to be at Henrietta’s side– to confirm if what I saw

earlier was real or not.

Slowly, she opened her eyes and I stood next to her bed, peering down on her, I braced myself for that ethereal color but found none. I sat on the bed and stared at her.

“Do you remember what happened?”

She looked at me as though she just realized I was there. Her brows furrowed and then she gasped, grabbing her neck as though it was suddenly too hard for her to breathe. She grunted as she grabbed her head as though she was in pain.

“Henrietta?”

“Stay away from me!” she hissed and I was taken aback. The hatred on her face was evident. The hatred I never thought I would see from her eyes. Her fangs were there as she snarled. “You…what did you do? I… I was attacked in that alley. I remember now. That man who was with you…he was the one who attacked me. Why…Why are you with him? Are you–” She choked on her words and tears started to stream down her face. “I remember that man attacked me that night. Why is he with you? Why can’t I remember anything that night?”

I fraze from where I was sitting. How was she able to break from the compulsion I placed on her?

“What did you do to me?” her voice was low and I know that too well. I know when a vampire is bound to attack so I braced myself.

“I can explain everything but not now. Not when you’re not in the right state–”

Before I could finish my sentence, she launched herself at me. Compared to when she was just a half-werewolf, she’s much stronger now that she has become a vampire. Although I still have no answers as to how she became. a vampire, there is no doubt that this has something to do with the recent attack.

I fell on the floor with a thud and she sat on top of me, grabbing the collars of my shirt. And then the color of her eyes was back. Her green eyes glowed hazel and her fans seemed to have grown longer as she snarled at me once again. She still has not realized what is happening to her.

Without much effort, I grabbed both her wrists and shifted our position. Now, she’s on the ground as I pinned both her hands beside her head. She tried to use her feet but I had already completely immobilized her.

“Let me go!”

go!” she thrashed and screamed but I kept her pinned on the ground. The door swung open abruptly, revealing Henrietta’s handmaiden, Niana. She entered the room, seemingly unaware of the previous attack. However, witnessing her lady pinned to the ground by a man stirred a protective instinct within her.

Niana growled and as she launched herself at me, I used my one hand to hold Henrietta’s two hands and my other to grab Niana by the neck. She tried to claw me with her sharp claws but it was futile.

Henrietta continued to thrash against my hold but my focus is now on Niana. “Look at your lady,” I ordered. She tried to claw me once again until her eyes found Henrietta’s. It was then that she stopped thrashing. Her hands went limp to her side as her eyes went wide.

“Look at her state. I am not doing anything to her. I am trying to calm her down,” I said and Niana choked on a so b. When I was certain she had calmed down, I slowly let her go, her feet gently touching the floor. It seemed that her knees had gone weak that she kneeled to the floor, tears streaming down her cheeks.

“W-What happened to her?”

Henrietta continued to thrash. “There is nothing wrong with me! Niana, this man erased my memories that night I was attacked. And the man that attacked me is working for him. You need to call someone. Call someone for help–”

“That man’s name is Aran and yes, he attacked you. I can explain everything but first, I need you to calm down. Having known that I erased your memories is not something you should be worried about.”

Niana sobbed harder as she, too, realized what Henrietta had become.

Henrietta looked at her handmaiden in confusion. “Niana, what is wrong? Why are you crying? Why are you not

doing anything?”.

Niana looked at her lady and continued to so b. “My lady…” she trailed.

“What is the matter? Stop crying and tell me!” she yelled and Niana flinched. Struggling, she stood and ran to teh vanity to get a hand mirror. I closed my eyes firmly as I braced myself for what was to come.

Niana I

let Henrietta s

see her reflection in the mirror and silence ensued. Henrietta stared at herself– her glowing hazel eyes that were almost golden and the fangs that could not be hidden.

I felt her slightly relax from my hold but I know it was merely because she was too stunned at what she saw.

Slowly, I let go of her wrists and she grabbed the mirror from Niana’s hand.

“W-What is happening to me?” she asked, her voice trembling. Her hands shook as they rose to explore her altered features, tracing the contours of her face, her eyes widening at the sight of elongated canines. Each touch confirmed the undeniable truth: she had been transformed into something else. “Why do I have…these?”

She looked at me. “What did you do to me?”

Her accusatory gaze pierced me, causing a weary sigh to escape my lips. I could see the distrust etched in her eyes, and it weighed heavily on my conscience.

“I did not do anything to you, Henrietta.”

She threw the mirror in my direction and I did not avoid it. The broken shards wound my temple but before the blood could fall to my clothes, the wound healed. “How can I trust you when you removed my memories the

night I was attacked?”

I turned to Niana and met her gaze. “You will not remember any of this conversation later on.”

Niana nodded blankly and Henrietta scuttled far away from me.

“What did you— how could you do that? Who are you?”

It pained me to see her look at me like I was someone she doesn’t know but I have seen this coming. I should

“That man who attacked you was Aran. He is a vampire, yes, but he was a victim of circumstance. Something was done to him like the vampires who attacked you tonight.”

“W-What? Do you expect me to believe all that? Why did you remove my memories?”

I closed my eyes firmly, remembering the reason why I did it. “I figured that it would be too traumatizing for you. And… you were bitten. I made you drink my blood to save you and it had more than one effect. You know how my blood makes you feel and you had it that night.”

She swallowed hard and I know she remembered that night as well.

“I figured it would cause you humiliation-”

“Stop,” she said, raising her hand. “Then… why… what’s happening to me? Why am I like this? Please tell me this

is just an effect of your blood. Please tell me this is not permanent.”

The glow in her eyes disappeared as well as her fangs but it was undeniable that she had truly become different.

“As of the moment, I don’t have any answers yet–”

Henrietta’s so bs intensified, her hands clutching at her chest in anguish. I struggled to find the words to comfort her, my mind racing. Eventually, I resigned myself to silence, allowing her to come to terms with the harsh reality unfolding before us.

I swallowed hard. “I will find the answers and I will try my best to fix this if it could still be fixed.”

“she

“What happens to me now? If…If I am a vampire–” she choked on her words. “How did this happen? Was it because of the attack?” Her words were barely audible from all the sobbing she did and I know it won’t do her no good to keep crying.

Slowly, I inched closer to her. When she did not scuttle away, I moved closer. Gently, I grabbed her shoulder and made her face me.

“Can you…Can you make me forget? Maybe if I forget this ever happened, I won’t accidentally let it come out.

I Please,” she pleaded, the desperation in her voice was a punch through my gut. “Please, I don’t want to be a vampire.”

I squeezed her shoulder tighter making her look at me.

“It doesn’t work that way,” I said. “Even if I make you forget, it would still come out. You will still have the urges.”

“Then what do I have to do? What do I have to do to remove this?”

‘For now, I need you to sleep. Rest. I will find answers and when I am back, I’ll tell you about it.”

She shook her head, still crying. I know it would be a battle for her to accept the fact. I still could not discern how it all happened but I will the answers no matter what.

I went to reach her chin to make her look at me. “You will sleep tonight. The next morning, I promise I will be back and I will tell you everything I know.” I swallowed. “I will also tell you about me. I promise.”

Naturally, a vampire compelling another vampire is possible. However, compelling another half -b reed like me is not. But since Henrietta is not yet in the full phase of her vampire state, my compulsion easily influenced her and she nodded. I reached to wipe the tears staining her cheeks before I tucked her into bed.

The moment the mattress touched her back, her eyes immediately closed. It was then that I faced Niana who looked at me blankly.

“You can return to your quarters. You should not come into your lady’s chamber without me. Understood?”

She nodded and when I told her to leave, she slowly walked out of the room. When I made sure Henrietta was

asleep, it was then that I decided to take my leave.

I have a lot to uncover and one of them is the reason why Henrietta suddenly became a hybrid..
