Chapter 25

I was completely silent as we walked to another territory. Apparently this is how Kings rule in this world with brutality. I really found it unnecessary to kill just to show power. He did not have to kill those two men back on the mountain. Once again he had gone ahead with a few warriors in their wolf form but somehow I felt like he was closer than I thought watching me. I hated how I felt protected whenever he was around because I should feel vulnerable and in danger. He was a predator and right now I could be his prey.

"You are awfully quiet. I expected more questions from you, are you upset?" Sasha asked looking at me with a frown.

I shook my head "No I guess I am a little tired now" I admitted .Yes I was upset obviously with everything including being held captive but it would be useless telling anyone around here that but I was also tired. The walk to the mountain was a lot ,nobody told me we would be visiting other territories after that. To them this was nothing, walking miles was a small thing for them but as for me my feet were already killing me.

She widened her eyes "Oh, I am so sorry I did not realize this sooner. Of course you must be exhausted. I will mind link the Alpha and let him Know we will be taking some rest for a few minutes" she said before narrowing her eyes .I did not know how that mind link thing worked but it made more sense how they seemed to be communicating with each other without saying any words or far from each other. Wonders never seemed to end around here.

Suddenly everyone stopped and a huge midnight black wolf appeared with two other slightly smaller brown wolves ,the second one had a little bit of grey fur. However the leading one caught my full attention, it was humungous . I felt like it could literally just crush me with a single paw, its eyes were silver grey almost transparent with a golden ring around them and that is how I knew it was him. Alaric, I gasped in shock and my mind kept thinking "how is this possible" I said out loud.

"are you okay?" Sasha asked holding my shoulder

I nodded my head "yes, its just a lot to get used to." I lied to be honest I was freaking out again.

The dark wolf's fur had such an amazing shade of midnight black I swear he could easily blend in with the night ,it looked like he belonged in the dark and nobody would see him unless he wanted to be seen. I now understood what Sasha meant when she said they were a part of nature and that they were creatures of the night. The beast in front of me could easily scare anyone and anything. It felt like the ground shook with every step that he took. I breathed in as he came towards us. Flashes of Amanda's gruesome death came rushing in my head. My feet felt like running in the opposite direction and unfortunately that is what they did. 'to hell with this'

"Aria No!" I heard Sasha's voice call out but I was already sprinting, the stupid dress was not helping my situation.

I ran and ran without looking back. I am pretty sure I should have been caught by now or surrounded by a bunch of wolves but surprisingly there was nothing. I didn't know whether this was suspicious or a good thing. I ran a little bit more until I started feeling a bit light headed again, my eyes did a quick scan of where I was .I spotted a huge log and quickly hid behind it. I couldn't help but feel a little hopeful, maybe just maybe I had actually succeeded to get away. A few seconds passed ,there was a deadly silence and my body froze. I knew he was there I could feel him, it wasn't much of a surprise seeing his huge wolf form walk towards me slowly like the predator that he was .

I grabbed a stick that was beside me out of instinct, my feelings told me that he would not hurt me. However my whole body and my head told me not to be ridiculous, this was a wild vicious animal. Things could end badly but I would die fighting. I grabbed a rock and threw it at the wolf before trying to run. The wolf let out a low growl as If he was annoyed but not angry. I do not know how I knew how it was feeling but I felt like I just knew. In a second it was in front of me and I fell on my back . My sleeve got torn a little exposing the cut on my wrist. The wolf let out a whine and there was a sudden feeling or voice in my head saying 'stop, you are just hurting yourself.' So I froze, I was confused and scared.

The wolf whined again as he got closer, I was frozen I didn't move. It sat on all fours and his head nudged my legs. I swallowed hard ,flinching a little and my hands were starting to shake. I felt even more light headed, the wolf whined again catching my attention. I got lost in his silver eyes, it was just Alaric...I breathed in and out slowly. I let my shaky curious hand touch the fur on his large head. He actually purred for a second and he suddenly moved behind me. He sat behind me letting his large tail blanket me. I felt warm I had not realized that I was freezing cold . My hands had stopped shaking but I was still a bit light headed and tired. I was glad I was sitting right now otherwise I would have fainted for real. I couldn't help but touch his fur, it was so unbelievably soft. I felt like hugging his fluffy tail but I restrained myself because if this was really Alaric he would probably be so annoyed.

My heart skipped a little as I watched Sasha run towards me. She looked worried "Aria!" she said as she stopped a few steps away from me. She was being a bit a bit cautious " I brought her water , some meat was prepared" she told the wolf.

He only growled a little removing his large fluffy tail from my lap but he didn't move away.
