Chapter 683

Leopold massaged his temples, and he felt utterly wronged, like being caught between a rock and a hard place with no way to express his grief.

"One day, you'll see who I really am,” he promised.

Aurelia hoped that day would come.

"Let's just hope you don't end up disappointing me,’ she replied, her voice laced with fear of another heartbreak. She pretended it didn't matter, but deep down, it mattered a lot.

He gently cupped her chin, murmuring, "Good girl, wait for me."

He was determined that no one else could have her, and she was his woman.

From a short distance, Skyler's eyes went wide with curiosity, "Is Leopold about to kiss Aurelia?" William let out a mischievous chuckle, "We better not watch that.”

Skyler quickly covered his eyes, “Right, we're just kids, and we shouldn't watch that."

Sierra looked on with envy. Leopold and Aurelia seemed like a fairytale prince and princess, utterly perfect.

"Skyler, you're grown-up, not a kid anymore.”

Skyler corrected her with a serious tone, “I'm not a grown-up and I'm just a bit older than William. I don't wanna grow up. Being an adult is no fun at all.”

Sierra gasped, “But why? Everyone has to grow up.”

Skyler scrunched up his nose, "Not me. I'll always be a kid."

Sierra murmured, “But William will grow up, and he won't always be a kid."

Skyler glanced at William, a hint of sadness in his eyes. William caught on to his feelings and patted his shoulder reassuringly.

"Skyler, don't worry. When I grow up, we'll still be friends. Remember that we are Robin Hood and Little John. They were like brothers. And Robin didn't change when he got older, right?"

Skyler broke into a grin, "Then when you grow up, don't become all stiff and boring. Geoffrey became such a bore when he grew up, never wanting to play, just hanging out with other boring adults.”

William smirked, "I'll be like Peter Pan, able to be a kid or an adult. I'll always be a kid when I'm with you."

"You're awesome, William." Skyler clapped his hands with joy.

Sierra's eyes twinkled mischievously, "Skyler, I'll be a kid too and play with you, okay?"

Skyler stroked his chin, pondering.

"You gotta swear that you won't snitch to Tanya, and you can't be her little spy watching over me." Sierra raised her hand solemnly, “I swear."

Skyler made a face at her, "If you tattle, you'll fall into a lake and turn into a big turtle. And think how sad your mom and dad would be."

Sierra's eyes lowered, radiating deep sadness. "I don't have a mom and dad anymore. They died in a plane crash and went to heaven. I don't have any friends either. Everyone at school shuns me. Nobody wants to be my friend"

She said.

She was the Cinderella who was born into nobility but fell on hard times.

After her parents passed away, her unscrupulous uncle took over the estate, and her family treated her like a servant.

By eight, she'd been forced to grow up, and what a beautiful childhood felt like was something she'd long forgotten.

Skyler was caught off guard, seeing that some had it even harder than him.

William rose to his feet and pulled her into a comforting embrace. Life had dealt this poor girl a tough hand. "Don’t be sad. From now on, Skyler and I will be your friends. if anyone dares bully you, we'll stand up for you.’
