Chapter 629

William pulled a face, "The adult world is just too weird for us kids to get.”

Skyler shrank back a little, “Adults are so complicated, with all this dating stuff. Being a kid is way better."

"Yep, William nodded, but deep down he really wished he could grow up faster so he could protect Mom and Kane from the bad guys.

Their new play starred Kaley, the up-and-coming sweetheart of the scene, known for her roles in several online series.

She was also a huge fan of Avery and was beyond thrilled to be working with him.

Avery was the epitome of cool, a heartthrob with a flawless image that didn’t need any camera tricks.

As Avery slipped into his costume, Kaley hurried over to help him fix his hair, her adoration clear as day.

"Like a knight in shining armor, unmatched in this world” she quipped.

Avery cracked a smile, "Looks like you're already in character.”

Kaley giggled, “I'm your fan, so how could I not be ready?"

Avery was genuinely handsome, the kind of guy who looked just as amazing off camera as he did on it, and no filters, no touch-ups needed.

Kaley took out her script, hoping to use it as an excuse to get closer to him.

The entertainment industry was full of ladies crushing on Avery. Not only was he incredibly good- looking, but he also had a sterling reputation, no wild parties or scandals for him.

Unlike some who were all style and no substance, with messy lives behind the scenes.

Kaley knew that to have a shot with the Hawthornes, she needed to keep her own image squeaky clean.

She was arich girl, and her dad was a big-shot CEO, which meant no one dared mess with her. So, she felt she had a fair chance.

Leah watched from the sidelines as the two rehearsed. She could see right through Kaley's intentions.

Avery was just too popular, and every actress who worked with him seemed to fall for him, getting caught up in the act.

When the first scene started, Skyler saw that Leah was alone and sneaked over.

"Leah, I didn't know you were working as Avery's assistant.”

Leah put a finger to her lips, “You gotta keep it a secret from dad and mom, promise?”

Skyler nodded earnestly, "I know, and I'll keep your secret.”

He propped his chin in his hands, 'I can tell that you like Avery.”

Leah quickly covered his mouth, "Don't blab about that. If the paparazzi hear, we're toast.”

"I got it? Skyler chuckled, surprised that even Leah was growing up and falling in love. Good thing he didn't have to grow up, and he could always be a kid. Adults had it too tough

He dashed off to find William and Aurelia.

William was close by and had spotted him talking to Leah.

"Skyler, you know Leah?"

Skyler whispered into his ear, "She's my little sister.”

William was his best friend, after all. This secret should be safe with him.

William's eyes went wide with shock as he asked, “Your real sister?”

"Yep, Skyler nodded, "But remember, it's a secret. Don't tell anyone.”

William loved secrets, and he was so excited. He never would have guessed Leah was actually Skyler's sister.

If Avery heard about this, he'd be floored.

“There sure are a lot of people with secrets in this world.”

William had his own secrets that he couldn't share with anyone.

Skyler bobbed his head, "Secrets make things fun. Life would be so boring without them."

He had plenty of secrets of his own.

William grinned, "When Leah and Uncle Avery get hitched, we'll all be one big family.”

Skyler quickly shushed him, "Keep it down, and don't let the paparazzi hear you."
