Kane had arrived.

William was bursting to tell him about the mysterious thing they called the Reaper's Stamp, but he bit his tongue instead. He had promised Skyler to keep it under wraps and could not break his word. After all, a gentleman's agreement is as good as gold.

"Kane, do you believe in magic?” William asked with a mischievous glint in his eye.

Kane blinked. "Have you been binge-watching Harry Potter again?”

"Just tell me if you believe, will you?" William urged with a conspiratorial air.

Kane shook his head. "Nah, I don't buy it. I've never seen a real wizard, just stage magicians.” Asmug smile crept across William's face. Once he mastered magic, he would astonish Kane, leaving him green with envy.

"I do believe in magic, William chuckled. "I'm gonna be the most badass wizard in the world"

Kane let out a laugh. William's head was always full of wild ideas, so his belief in magic wasn't all that surprising.

"Alright then. Here's to outdoing Harry Potter himself."

"What's your dream, Kane?" William asked, genuinely curious

"I'm going to be the king of Al. I want to invent the world's most awesome robot, like R2D2 from Star Wars," Kane said, his eyes alight with passion. He was currently diving into IT and artificial intelligence studies.

William still thought magic was better. Magic could beat anything. Skyler was teaching him chemistry and microbiology to brew powerful potions.

Jolin had baked the kids’ favorite treats. Aurelia called the two boys downstairs.

Though identical twins, their personalities were night and day. One was lively, while the other was composed.

One was the life of the party, and the other was an introvert. One was quirky and eccentric, and the other was cool and detached.

Aurelia watched her sons and thought of Skyler and Geoffrey.

Leah suspected someone had undergone surgery to look just like Skyler, but Aurelia was convinced they were twins.

William took a bite of the almond cookie and said, "Mom, did you know Skyler had a brother named Geoffrey?

Aurelia felt a jolt. "Did Skyler tell you that he and Geoffrey are twins?"

"Yep." William nodded. Skyler hadn't said it was a secret, so it was fair game.

Aurelia's suspicions were confirmed. She needed to tell Leopold immediately.

When she was reaching for her phone to send a WhatsApp message, Kane's voice interrupted, “Mom, do William and t look exactly alike because we're twins, too?"

Aurelia’s fingers twitched, and the phone slipped from her grasp, crashing to the floor.

The boys had never asked this question before. She had thought they were too young to understand, but it was out in the open.

"No, you're brothers, not twins. Sometimes, siblings look alike. it's rare, but it happens. Heck, even strangers can look identical, let alone brothers.”

It was the first time she had lied to her children, and the guilt weighed heavily on her heart. But with the looming threat, she couldn't risk exposing William's identity.

Kane and William exchanged a glance and then looked down, muttering a subdued "Oh."

Kane had a hunch his mom wasn't being entirely honest, but he didn't push further.

Aurelia lifted her hand, stroking his hair. "Kane, can you promise Mom something? Please don't tell anyone, including Dad, that you and William look identical.”

Kane looked up, his gaze profound and thoughtful. Her words only deepened his conviction that they were twins and that his mom didn't want Dad to know.

"Okay." Kane agreed.

Aurelia smiled, pulling her son into a hug and planting a kiss on his cheek. "You're such a good boy, Kane."
