Chapter 554

"Birds of a feather flock together, right? That's why all us good-looking folks hang out," chuckled Leopold, flashing a grin at Skyler, who nodded enthusiastically.

As they strolled past a small copse of trees, a fledgling tumbled from its perch and landed with a soft thud on the grass below. Its weak chirps filled the air as it flapped helplessly, struggling to rise. Skyler, who spotted it first, dashed over, his heart pounding. He wanted to lift it, yet feared that the slightest touch might end its fragile life. Frustrated and anxious, he scratched his head.

“Leopold, Angel, there's a little birdie that's fallen from its tree. It can't fly yet. Is it going to die?” he stammered, eyes wide with concern.

Leopold scooped up the bird gently and inspected it for injuries. Luckily, the nest wasn't too high up, and a cushion of thick grass had broken the fall. The bird was growing, a stroke of fortune. "Don't worry. It seems to be okay, he reassured Skyler, who let out a sigh of relief.

“It must've hurt when it fell. I'll blow on it to make it feel better,” Skyler said, puckering his lips and gently blowing on the bird, "Don't be afraid. We'll get you back home."

Aurelia watched Skyler and saw a pure kindness in him. He had a reverence for life that couldn't possibly connect him to the notorious AK Group.

It was a shame that his family, ambitious and ruthless, had entangled him in their web of trouble. Above them, a larger bird circled, calling out. It was the mother.

Skyler waved at her, saying, "Don't worry, we'll make sure your baby gets home safe.”

Yuna approached and took the fledgling from Leopold, tucking it into her jacket pocket. Then, like a squirrel scaling a tree, she climbed swiftly up to the nest.

The mother bird did not attack but watched and called out anxiously as Yuna drew near. The birds in the botanical garden were protected and thus not overly fearful of humans.

Reaching the nest, Yuna carefully placed the fledgling back into its home. The mother bird seemed to express gratitude, flapping her wings joyously around Yuna's head as if to say thank you.

They thought every creature had a spirit, so humans should live in harmony with the animals, caring for the smaller ones.

Skyler, having helped save the bird, was elated, doing cartwheels across the grass and singing a lighthearted tune, “Little bird, little bird, fly through my window, find molasses candy, through my window..."

Come noon, they found a cozy diner for lunch.

Aurelia played back a recording, sketching on the side as Skyler watched, his eyes filled with admiration.

Leapold looked an, his expression serious.

In no time, Aurelia sketched a greenhouse filled with plants and insects, all drawn from Skyler's descriptions.

"Angel, you're amazing. It looks exactly like what I saw, exclaimed Skyler, clapping his hands. Leopold asked in a grave tone, "Do you remember what it looks like outside the greenhouse?” "There's a high wall surrounding it, with vines creeping all over it. It looks pretty scary,” Skyler recalled with a shiver, "Outside the wall is a cliff, and beyond the cliff was the ocean."

Hearing his description, Aurelia drew another picture.

"Like this?" she asked.

"Yeah, just like that,” Skyler nodded. "There's no road, only a helicopter to get there. But I always get so sleepy as soon as I get on, and then I fall asleep. When I wake up, I'm at the hotel.”

Aurelia and Leopold exchanged a glance. The lack of roads meant the place was hidden, making it difficult to find. This was why the AK Group had remained undiscovered for so long.
