Chapter 213

Leopold shifted his gaze, stood up, walked over to the easel, picked up the brush, and began to paint a image representing himself.

She was stunned.

He could paint, and he was damn good at it!

Heaven, was he trying to hog all the talent? Was there any left for the rest of us?

He painted himself next to her, making it look like they were a loving couple with two adorable children. It was so warm, so beautiful.

That was a sight Aurelia never dared to imagine. After all, such fantasies could only lead to melancholy and disappointment. He and she were only passing ships in the night. Once they crossed paths, they would diverge indefinitely, never to intersect again.

Quickly shaking off these thoughts, she gave him a thumbs up, grinning, “Mr. Leopold, you're quite a Renaissance talent. I'm thoroughly impressed.”

Leopold put down his brush, turned around and walked over. With a dominant gesture, he pinned her against the glass door of the terrace. His handsome face hovered over hers, nearly touching. His eyes, shimmering in the sunlight, were fixed on her.

"Are you sure you can still look at other men after meeting a catch like me?” His voice, deep and enchanting, was filled with arrogance. But he had every right to be!

She took a quiet, deep breath. His musky scent was mixed with her breath, wafting across her face, making her feel tipsy, like she had too much wine.

Swallowing hard, she finally managed to say, “Let me put it in metaphor. Even after having a luxury dinner, I would still crave a homemade burger. Even after carrying a Hermes Birkin, I can still hold a normal handbag. I'm...not picky.”

Once their divorce was finalized, she would immediately erase him from her memory to avoid any stark

contrasts.

Leopold frowned, flicking her forehead without holding back, “Is that even a fair comparison?”

She hung her head low and sighed, “Mr. Leopold, I'm already striving hard at work. I don't want to have to fight for love or marriage. That's too exhausting. I just want to take it easy and wait for Cupid to bring my

soulmate to me."

Leopold noticed that while she was a workaholic, she was extremely passive when it came to relationships, like a turtle retreating into its shell.

But... His gaze landed on her protruding belly, and he reached out to gently touch it, “You do have an uncanny knack for luck.”

Aurelia instantly understood his meaning. A mix of emotions washed over her.

Without lifting a finger, Cupid had delivered a husband — a top-tier catch at that!

Once she gives birth to the babies, she would get some compensation from him, achieving financial freedom.

For someone who scrimped and saved every penny, even on coffee and clothes, to pay for her brother's treatment, financial freedom was an invaluable gift.

My goodness, wasn't this the very definition of riding the gravy train?

Her eyes sparkled for a moment, only to dim quickly.

Sadly, Leopold was not her destined partner, and Cupid's arrow was shooting wrongly.

Leopold caught the subtle changes in her expression, gently pinching her cheek, “Are you daydreaming again?”

She made a face, “I was thinking about our tiny, short thread of fate. Maybe it wasn’t Cupid who brought us together, but Mercury. He was moved by my humble efforts and decided to let me experience the joys of financial freedom.”

Leopold was speechless. He thought she was daydreaming about some romantic tale, but she was actually thinking about money. She probably only had money on her mind, which explained her disinterest in love.

“If you don't behave, you can forget about any kind of freedom,” he warned, his words slow and menacing.

Aurelia shivered as a cold gust of wind seemed to sweep over her.

She realized that this financial freedom came at the cost of personal liberty.
