Chapter Eight

Lucien and I walked off a little distance before he turned to me.

“I tried to find you…” He sighed.

“I know…Well…Now I do…But I have to admit, I thought you were never coming…I had all but given up” I sigh.

“I would never give up on you cupcake” he says hugging me gently.

“I burnt a load of cupcakes today” I laugh as he chuckles.

“That’s unlike you” He smiles.

“It’s been one of those day, you know?” I smirk.

“I should have found you sooner, I should have kept pushing on…All those men…All those bullies…You deserve the world, not the torture you’ve been through” He sighs.

“We can’t change it now. So, stop thinking about it and move on”

“No. I’m going to rip apart those men who touched you, that’s the first thing I’m going to do…” He growls.

“Lucien…We need to figure out who is trying to hide me and why…That’s probably a little more important right now. They deserve what they’ve got coming to them, but there are other things that need dealing with first…” I sigh.

“When did you grow up?” He smirks.

“The day my parents died…” I frown.

“About that…” Lucien bites his lips.

“Lucien…”

“Your parents might not be dead…We never found their bodies… The bodies the authorities found were of some random human couple”

“WHAT!” I exclaim.

“We think hunters may have them, that they are using leaders of great power in different species in order to create some sort of weapon to wipe us all out…”

“AND YOU’VE BEEN LOOKING FOR ME AND NOT THEM!!” I shout angrily as I feel the rage burn inside me.

“Calm down Serena, there was nothing I could do, I had to find you! I think they’ll come for you next, whole families of leaders have gone missing and you are their missing link in the family. Someone is hiding you, but not just from us, but from them and I don’t know why.”

I begin to pace in anger as I feel the rage just build and build.

“SERENA!” I hear Vance and Craig running up to us.

“Woah! Serena listen to me, either calm down or you’re going to have to shift” Vance says.

“How?! How do I shift?!” I growl out.

“Focus, focus on your body turning into a wolf, into feeling that other part of your soul” Craig answers.

“Take the locket off first” Lucien says as I take it off and place it in his hand as I feel a surge of power.

I focus on shifting.

Pain floods through me as I scream, falling onto my knees.

“VANCE!” I scream as he looks at me, coming to my side.

“We’re all here…Fuck…Ok…Here I go” He sighs.

Next thing I know is he’s in front of me, screaming in pain himself.

“When was the last time you shifted?” Lucien goes to his side as Craig is at mine.

“Twenty years!” He scream out as his body contorts with sharp movements.

“Focus baby” Craig says to me as I keep going, the pain making me scream as my bones crunch and crack against each other agonisingly.

I screamed loudly as suddenly the pain faded as I laid on the ground, whimpering…Wait…That wasn’t a human whimper…

I opened my eyes as I saw a pair of paws in front of me.

“My god!” Lucien smiles at me.

“Stand up Serena” Craig says, a look of pride and wonder in his eyes as he takes in my wolf as I slowly get used to the movement, walking in a small circle.

“I’m getting a picture to show her” Daniel smirked as he took a photo.

I heard a whimper of pain on the ground as I saw a smaller grey wolf on the ground as I slowly walked forward, nudging it with care.

“He’ll be ok Serena” Lucien says as I nudge him again, he barely moves.

I sniff the air and smell something…Odd as I turn to the dark forest, growling in warning.

“What is it?” Tony asks.

Craig and the boys shift into their wolves too as they stand beside me.

“What do you smell?” Craig’s voice calls to me in my mind as I jump in surprise.

“Wait…We can talk?!”

“Yes, in our minds baby”

I growl again as another scent hits my nose.

“What is that smell?” I growl.

“Let’s go see” Craig takes off into a run as I take off after him, catching up to him easily as I’m a little bigger than him.

We bound into the trees as I smell around and find myself in front of a deer. Smelling once more I could tell it wasn’t the thing making that smell as I turn slowly and head another way as the boys watched me.

I growl in warning as we get closer to a large hole that had been dug out.

Craig growls beside me.

“Get back” He growls as I stop and step back.

“Hunter…The normal kind…They leave traps like this out all the time” Daniel snarls as he picks up a log with his teeth and throws it at the hole as a trap snaps up and makes chunks of dead deer fly everywhere.

“We should go back, they’ll come back for this and I don’t feel like getting shot tonight. I’ll get the guys to search for the human hunter and stop them planting traps in our territory” David says.

“Ok…Let’s go” I reply as we begin to run back towards the house.

“Serena” Craig says as the boys run off ahead as me and Craig are left alone in the treeline as I gaze at his wolf. His bright green eyes shine brighter than I had ever seen, and his dark drown coat glistened in the moonlight.

I walk up to him and nuzzle into his side as our bond seems to grown even stronger.

“So beautiful” He says, if I was human I would have blushed.

I could feel my wolf become playful as I begin to jump about and tackle Craig as I run about.

“You want to play huh?” He laughs.

“Come get me” I say back before taking off running, feeling the wind in my fur, it was amazing.

Craig followed me close behind as we ran through the field before I stumbled a little, still getting used to my new legs, this gave him the chance to make me topple over as I laid on my back as he stood above me.

“Mine” He growls as he bites my shoulder as I scream out before whining in pleasure as I did the same to him in instinct.

We released each other and that was when I noticed we had both shifted back to our human forms in the middle of the pain.

Breathing heavily against each other we kissed with a new passion, one that I couldn’t get enough of.

“What was that?” I breathed.

“Our mating bite…I hadn’t planned to do that yet…I just…Couldn’t help it” He sighs as his tongue licks over the bite as I moan in pleasure as he smirks.

“Now what?” I say before licking his own as he groans, I feel his hard cock against my stomach as he grinds into me.

“If you keep doing that I will take you right here, right now” He growls lustfully.

“Is that part of the ritual?” I smirk.

“Yes” he growls as he attacks my neck with his lips as I whimper beneath him.

I hear a howl in the distance as Craig glances up, his eyes darting across the horizon.

“Who is it?” I ask as he helps me stand, his arms wrapped around me possessively.

“I don’t know…” He growls.

“Craig, we should get back” I say as I take his hand in mine.

“Shift now Serena and run” He says as I look at him with worry, his eyes on a point in the distance as I see a figure watching us.

“Who is it? What is it?” I ask.

“Hunter” he growls as I step back in shock.

“Craig, we have to go warn the others!” I drag him by the arm.

“SHIFT Serena! Now!” He demands as he shifts, and I concentrate as I feel the pain run through my body as I turn into a wolf once more.

“What are you doing?!” I cry out as he begins running towards the hunter.

“Run home now! I will return! Go now Serena!” He orders, but the further he gets the more pain I feel as I whimper on the ground.

“Craig!” I scream in our head as he looks back and turns, bolting to my side as the pain lessens.

“I’m sorry…I’m sorry, I didn’t think…Shit, they’ve gone. We need to get back now Serena, are you ok?” He nuzzles my side as I stand on wobbling legs.

“Let’s go” I whimper as we begin to run back towards the house.

“Was NOW really the time to claim each other?!” Lucien shouts at us as he notices the marks on our necks as we shift back.

“No time to explain, hunter on the grounds” Craig says as Lucien looks into the distance.

Lucien makes a loud whistle with his fingers to his lips as several people come running out of the house to us.

“Boss?” a woman says as she eyes me with curiosity.

“I’ll explain that soon enough. But I need scouts out there now. A hunter was spotted” Lucien points to me as she nods, and they all shift as they bolt towards where we had seen the hunter.

“Let’s get indoors” Vance says as Lucien agrees as we head into the pack house.
