Howard took in Grace’s despair before looking back at “Rina“. His heart softened. 

Although he didn’t like Grace, she was still Rina’s mother. 

After all, there was nothing like a loving mother’s care.

Kara pouted angrily. 

Although she’d been busy playing on the slide, she’d heard everything that Grace had said.

Grace’s desperation made her feel like she was going crazy.

Kara nodded obediently. 

He walked away with Kara tucked in his arms, Alex and Cindy trailing after them. 

Meanwhile, Grace was rooted in place. As she watched the succession of people leave, she gritted her teeth. 

Once they got to the car, Howard gently placed the little girl inside.

“I’m sorry, Daddy,” she hurriedly apologized. 

Seeing ‘Rina‘ so flustered and timid, he gave her a gentle smile. “It’s okay.” 

She lowered her head. At the same time, she secretly clutched the piece of hair she’d taken from his head, pressing it against her heart. 

“Mr. Logan, I’m very sorry. This is all my fault. I didn’t take care of Miss Rina well enough.” Cindy bowed her head and apologized.

“It’s my fault, Daddy. It was too stuffy in the house, so I wanted to go out for a walk. Cindy didn’t know, so don’t make her go away, okay?” she moped. 

If Cindy really did leave because of her, she’d feel guilty. 

Howard remained lost in thought as he listened to her. He felt like he was in a trance. Something told him that this was not 

his Rina. 

Everyone knew that Rina wasn’t very talkative. She would barely say three words to him in a day. 

Now, all of a sudden, she’s speaking so clearly and eloquently. 

Even if she did go through that treatment abroad, there was simply too much progress to be realistic.

She was tempted to nod enthusiastically, but she had to stay. committed to Rina’s character. She continued to stay silent, not bothering to express her thoughts.

This self–awareness and sense of responsibility made Sally proud inside.

Catching onto his mommy’s reluctance, Micah understood not to ask again. 

“Okay, Mommy. Kara and I will go back to our room first.” 

“All right, go on then.” She watched the two of them leave before letting her vision darken. 

She and Howard already had children and lives of their own. 

Having a life together was simply not meant to be. 

She mentally scolded herself to let go and move on, but her heart was pinned in place by a red–hot knife.
