Chapter thirty-three: where is she?

I start heading back to the packhouse holding the baby carefully as not to bump her around; once I am close to the packhouse, I check the area to make sure no one is around before running carefully inside and up to my office, where I find Hazyn waiting for me

“What do you have there?” He questions I carefully move baby so that he can see her adorable cheeks

"Awe, is that one of the twins?” He questions, not looking very closely

“Not exactly”, I laugh nervously, making Hazyn lift an eyebrow

"What did you do?” He questions, slowly walking closer to me, getting ready to take the baby off me; it soon clicks that he thinks I stole the baby because of how I have been acting.

I start backing up towards the door so that he can't take her off me.

"When I was on my walk, I smelt a rouge so went to investigate and found a young scared on the other side of the border. She had left her six-week-old daughter, who she named Sofie, on our side and was waiting for someone to come to take her to safety. She was raped and couldn't stand the thought of a termination, so I promised her I would look after Sofie,” I state, making Hazyn sigh. “Here I was thinking the worst”, he laughs, stopping in his tracks

“Can I see her?” He questions, making me nod and very carefully move my body so he can see the baby, who is now fast asleep in my arms.

“She's beautiful”, he states, making me nod, knowing its true

“I don’t know what the protocol is, but I want to adopt her; raise her as our own”, I state

“We need her to sign off’, he states, making me look at him blankly

“She's a rouge shell be long gone by now, I state” he nods, understanding my logic and realising I am correct.

"We can always unofficially adopt her, meaning we just raise her, but that would mean if she ever changed her mind and came back for her, we would have to give her back”, he states, making me nod in understanding before thinking over quickly

“As much as it would hurt if she came back, it is still her kid, so we will just do that because there's only a fifty per cent chance she will come back”, I state, making him nod, knowing that is very true. “Can we go shopping for her?” I question, making him nod before heading out of the room

“I'll meet you at the car. I need to find her a car seat,” he calls from down the hallway.

"Good call,” I call back before deciding to send a mind link out to inform the pack, so they don't freak out.

"Attention please, after Ben and Ashley's wedding, I went on a walk and came across a wolf who had left her six-week-old daughter in our border waiting for someone to come get her to raise her; Hazyn and I have come to the agreement to raise her as our own; there is a chance she will come back and take her back which we will allow, but for now she will be raised as ours and be treated as such her name is Sofie” I state though the pack link which is followed by a number of okays and if I need anything just to find them. By the time I finished listening to their responses, I had already managed to walk to the car with Hazyn installing the capsule.

I carefully place Sofie into the car seat, making sure it was secure, and she Was safe before jumping into the passenger seat as we sped off towards the human town to go to the baby shop.

“Thank you", I state as we pull into the car park.

“Baby, we both wanted a kid, and this is what it's come to, and she’s so beautiful I don't mind” he smiles

Once in the store, I leave Sofie in the capsule with Hazyn, who is pushing the trolley with her, still, fast asleep.

I rush around the store grabbing cloth nappies, formula, clothing, baby © furniture, baby wipes, toys for when she’s older, and every other item we will need.

"Got everything, baby?” He questions, noticing me slow down just staring off

“I think so; I have no idea what else we need” I sigh

"We can always come back if we forgot anything” he smiles making me kiss him

“Then yes, that's everything”, I state before heading towards the checkout.

I don't know what else will happen in our lives, but I do know that I will give sofie the best life she could ever ask for.
