Beth and Marshall stood outside the door to see them off reluctantly, and Meredith saw every detail in their expressions.

Meredith stayed the night with the Hiltons, and Aunt Cher brought her a glass of warm milk. “This will help you sleep.”

Seeing how anxious Meredith seemed, Aunt Cher suggested, “Ms. Meredith, Mrs. Hilton isn't your actual mother, and your unstable bond with her can't guarantee you anything...”

Meredith turned to look at her. “What do you mean?”
