Reo’s POV

We’re almost to Jerica. Turns out she is at an old abandoned building on the outskirts of the city. When we get there we can smell that no one is here.

“I can’t smell anyone,” Caleb says.

“I sense her. She’s here and she is alone, for the time being,” Tabitha tells us.

There must be a spell hiding her smell.

I order Harold to watch the north side, James to the south, Liam east and Caleb west. Tabitha stays at the front door. I head inside and search. I come across a door to a basement. Idiots need to stop putting my mate in basements. I walk down and find Jerica tied in a chair.

“I swear, I’m not a witch. Please just let me go,” she cries.

“Baby, it’s me.”

“Reo?! Thank goddess.”

I run to her and try to untie her but the ropes shock me.

“They’re enchanted,” she says.

Damn it. Of course they are. I link Tabitha to come here. Thanks to her being mated to one of my wolves she has mind link like the pack. She gets down there and I tell her about the ropes. She walks around Jerica a couple of times then stops behind her. After chanting some words I wouldn’t be able to repeat if you paid me a million dollars, the ropes start to glow. Once they stop she unties Jerica’s hands while I get her feet. I pick Jerica up bridal style and we rush out the door.

“The vampire, he’s getting closer. I feel it,” Tabitha says.

“Everyone! Load up let’s go!”

We all get in and drive off. When we get back to the pack Tabitha cast a spell of protection. No one can pass through the pack lines, at least for a while. I get Jerica to the clinic and have her looked at. The nurse cleans her up and gets her in a gown. The doctor gives her fluids and tells her to rest. Her ribs were bruised but not broken and she had burn marks from the ropes around her wrist and ankles. After he applied some ointment and wrapped them he left us alone. Tabitha made some of her healing tea to help.

“How are you feeling, Baby?”

“I’m ok. This tea is helping.”

I go and sit beside her on the hospital bed and hold her. I feel whole again. Her oranges and cream scent calms me and Red down.

“I was scared. I finally found you then someone takes you. But that will never happen again,” I tell her.

“They thought I was a witch. The last of a powerful family. I don’t know why.”

“Because you are. I can feel it. You have more power in you than you can imagine,” Tabitha tells us.

“What are you talking about Tabitha?” I ask.

“There is power in her but it’s locked. I guess the demonic witch thought Jerica was the one hiding it not that it was locked.”

“Locked how? And why?” Jerica ask.

“I’ll have to call my elder. If you are who I think you are, this was before my time and I don’t have all the answers.”

“As soon as Jerica is strong enough we’re all going back to Diamond Heart. We can get more information then.”

Tabitha bows her head then goes to call her elder. I pull Jerica close and she rest her head on my chest, then she starts to cry. I just hold her tighter and let her. It’s breaking my heart. She’s already had it so hard, then this. It seems she’s also about to get hit with some big information. Red is whining too. He can’t stand our mate sad either. I kiss the top of her head. She’s finally calming down some. I go to ask her if she’s ok but notice she fell asleep. She needs it so I just hold her and let her sleep. I’ll get her home soon and keep her safe. She’ll never go through any of this kind of shit ever again.

“I vow to always protect you and never let you go.” I say. She hums some then I feel her steady breaths telling me she is in a deep sleep.

Jerica’s POV

I wake up and feel something soft yet hard under my head and warmth wrapped around me. I feel safe. When I open my eyes I see I’m laying on Reo. He smiles down at me. Goddess, he has the most amazing smile. I sit up and can tell I’m blushing. I’ve never been so close to a man.

“Hey,Gorgeous. How are you feeling?”

“I’m better, thank you. How long was I asleep?”

“Just over an hour. Tabitha has some answers but I suggested we wait till we get back to our pack before discussing anything. Everything is packed and ready to go. Caleb brought you your other dress. Tabitha said you’d probably be comfortable in it since it’s flowy and cotton.”

“Yes. Thank you.”

“I wanted to ask you. Because this pack is being remade, it’ll be easy to transfer someone. Would you like to ask Pam to join us at Diamond Heart?”

“Can she? I would love that. She’s my only friend.”

“Done. I’ll step outside so you can get dressed.”

He kissed my forehead then stepped outside. I’m so happy he’s letting Pam come with us. He’s so great. I can’t believe I get him as a mate. So kind and considerate of me. I’m ready to be at my new pack. And find out who the hell I actually am.
