He Is Not Alone
Chapter 13

“It’s you!”

“Hi, I’m Amy Hansen.”

Amy is kind of the average girl. She is Caucasian, around 5 feet 6 inches, brown hair cut just above the shoulders. She has nice blue eyes. I have a thing for women’s eyes. She has a cute button nose. Her body probably draws the most attention. She has a nice pair of breasts, a thin waist, and well-defined hips. Her legs are well toned. Today she is wearing a button-down checkered blue blouse, blue jeans and a pair of medium brown cowboy boots.

“How do you know my name? Why can’t I read your mind? How did you find me? Who are you?”

“Whoa, slow down some, Will. I can explain, but not here. Let’s go back to the campsite and we can talk there.”

“Okay, do you have a ride?”

“I have a car. I will meet you back at the campground.”

Thirty minutes later, we are sitting in my motorhome.

“Amy, I am sorry for so many questions back there, I was surprised that you knew me. I have been trying to keep it low key after the government tried to kill me, twice.”

“Yes, I know. I have been following you now for over a year. You do make it difficult at the time. But, I have been able to connect with you and follow where you are going. Especially, when you know where you want to go. The times you just decided to go without any idea, were difficult, but once you stopped I was able to find you.”

“You mean you can connect with me, no matter where I am?”

“Yes. You and I are a lot alike. I can sense you like you can sense people around you. Your powers are kind of like a beacon for me.”

“So, how come I can’t sense you?”

“I’m not really sure. Maybe you can, but don’t know it yet. Over the years I have had to learn a lot of my capabilities. I can talk and control animals. With people, I can read their minds, make them say and do things as if they had the thoughts if they are within sight. I can sense those that are like us if they are close by. What have you done so far?”

“Well, I can also talk to and control animals. People I can control actions as well as the body up to and including creating harm. There doesn’t seem to be a limit on seeing them, although I haven’t tried much in the way of mass control without being in sight of me. I have been able to control the crowds. I saw you at Universal Studios. You were different. It was like a black hole; I could not sense or control anyone that was around you. I felt more than sensed that something was different. It wasn’t until Universal Studios that I discovered that there was something different going on. I knew there were people around me, I just couldn’t sense them, when I looked I realized that you were in the center of it, but you left before I could say or do anything. How long have you had these powers?”

“Almost all of my life, I grew up in Vermont on a farm outside of Burke, VT. My family had a 500-acre farm where we raised some livestock and grew corn and wheat. Mom had a little garden where she grew vegetables and did some canning. I remember at a young age being able to have the cows, chickens, horses, and sheep do what I wanted them to do. My parents thought it was kind of cute. I won many blue ribbons at the state fairs for livestock. I used to go for long walks in the woods around the farm. My father would always worry about me. Until I showed him that the animals protected me.

There was a pack of wolves in the woods that I had become friends with. They would meet me at the edge of the woods and we would walk for hours. One day my father was concerned about me when he heard the wolves howling. He followed me into the woods and saw me surrounded by the wolves. He yelled and started running towards me. The wolves took up a defensive posture and were protecting me. I yelled at my dad that everything was fine and told the wolves that it was okay, he was my father. We sat around for a little while the younger wolves played with me. The two alpha wolves stood watch. After that day, my father was different towards me. He understood that I had this gift. He said it was a gift from God. He encouraged me to expand it to the birds and other animals. By the time I was a teenager, there were not any animals I could not control.”

“I learned of my capabilities with a couple of dogs. They followed me home and help teach me what I was capable of doing. One died in his sleep and the other eventually moved on. I think Butch, I had to name them, knew I needed to move on and he was keeping me back. Did you find out about more capabilities after a blue haze hit you?”

“No, I can’t remember any blue haze. I have had my powers since I was really young, maybe 4 or 5 years old. My parents used to say that I was a little Dr. Doolittle. It wasn’t until I started to attend middle school that I found out I could also read the minds of people. Then I could also make them do what I wanted them to do. As with any kid who is special, the others started to pick on me. One day, I picked back. I had the school bully, undress and run around like a chicken. When others started to yell at me to stop, I had them do it too. My teacher figured out it was me and started to yell at me and grabbed my arm to take me inside. He also started to act like a chicken. I ran home after that and my parents pulled me from school. I was homeschooled before homeschooling was cool.” Amy smiles.

“My capabilities came in stages. I didn’t realize it at first. My wife and I were in a bad car accident. She died and just before we hit a wall, I saw this blue haze. When I woke up in the hospital a couple of months later, I found out that I could hear animals and then talk to them and make them do what I wanted with my mind. I just thought it and they would do it. Over time, I had more blue haze attacks and gained more capabilities. It wasn’t until a few years ago when I had the last haze attack that I put two and two together and realized that each time I had a blue haze attack that I gained some more capabilities. So, how did you find out about me?”

“I was in Philadelphia and saw you at a train station. I sensed that you were different from other people. It was pretty easy for me to connect with you, but the connection was different as well. I couldn’t read your mind or make you do anything, but I could feel your presence. Your thoughts were different, some thoughts were blocked and some thoughts were open. I asked you your name and you replied. As you were leaving, I said you weren’t alone. You acted really strange for a moment and then went on your way. After that, all I had to do was think about you and I knew where you were and what you were doing.”

“I remember those times. I kept looking around for whoever said it, but no one was there. It appears that we can communicate telepathically. Are there others like us?”

“Yes, but I haven’t tried to contact them. You are the only one that I have actively tried to find and follow. During our travels, I felt, at times, that it feels like there are more, but I never tried to find them.”

“So, where do you live now?”

“My parents died a few years ago in a car accident. I inherited the farm and sold it. I am not the farming type. I purchased a Class C recreational vehicle and kind of like you, I travel around. Unlike you, I kept in the background, never really interacting with people unless I have to. When I found out about you, I decided to follow you as best I could look for the right time to introduce myself.”

“So, what are you going to do now?”

“I was kind of hoping to follow you around for a while. It is lonely, traveling from place to place without anyone really to talk to. I am always on guard and reading people’s minds, trying to decide are they like me or not and with you, I don’t have to worry.”

“That would actually be nice. After all the issues with the government, I was kind of hoping to disappear for a while. I was thinking of heading out west. Have you ever been to the western US?”

“No, until I started to travel and following you around, I never left Vermont for any period of time. When you were in South Dakota that was my first time ever west of the Mississippi. Where are you thinking of going?”

“I was thinking of Colorado. The mountains are really nice and there are plenty of areas that are away from people. Do you have the money to travel like that?”

“For now, money isn’t an issue. When I sold the farm, I got a good bit of money, how about you?”

“I don’t have a problem with money either. Do you have any campground memberships or preferences on where you like to stay?”

“No, I never looked into anything like that. I just go where I want to.”

“Well, I was going to head to Texas tomorrow, then further west and finally to Colorado. If you don’t mind, we can still follow that path.”

The next day Amy and I hit the road. Amy is driving her 2012 Jayco Grayhawk Class C motorhome and I am driving my 2014 Monaco Dynasty. We head out across I-10 towards Texas. Our first stop is at Colorado River Campground in Columbus, TX. We back up to the Colorado River and set up next to each other and then head out for groceries and something to eat. We are back in time for a nice campfire and watching the boaters on the river. Over the next few days, Amy and I get to know each other a little better. We find that our capabilities mesh nicely together. Amy helps me work on my sensing her and by the time we are ready to hit the road, I can sense her without any issues and even know the general direction of where she is at when I can’t see her. Our telepathic communications become almost second nature. We sit around the campfire and hold complete conversations without saying a word. We find we can even communicate over long distances. Kind of neat to be shopping and have Amy tell me to pick up some tomatoes or cookies. Who needs two-way radios when you can talk telepathically?

Our next stop is Lake Texoma Campground in Gordonville, TX. Since I have a membership and we are staying mainly at Thousand Trails campgrounds, Amy buys one when we check-in. This was a little longer of a day; we traveled a little over 5 hours to get here. We have plenty of food, so we set up and have an early dinner. Tonight is Bingo and later they have a live band. We both sign up for Bingo and lose. It was fun and I enjoyed the time relaxing. The summer heat is pretty oppressive in central Texas, so over the next couple of days, Amy and I spend most of the days at the pool. Amy is a very conservative lady with her one-piece modest swimsuits. I find myself looking forward to the time we spend with each other, which is getting to be quite often.

Over the next couple of weeks, we work our way into Colorado and the Denver area. We end up at the Golden Terrance Campground outside of Denver. This is a beautiful area and Amy wants to stay here for a while. Neither one of us has sensed anyone following us or taking an interest in us. With my new identity, we decide to make this home for now.

After a few months, Amy begins to get bored and wants something to do. She has heard about an animal sanctuary not far from the campground and since we both work well with animals, wants to see if we could volunteer. We take a trip to the Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg, CO. The director wasn’t looking for any more help, but after we told him we wanted to volunteer, he decided to give us a try. First stop was the wolves. Amy immediately connected with them and the director was impressed. We started the next day as volunteers. With my background in computers, I am also part of the IT staff.

The Wild Animal Sanctuary has all kinds of animals, just about every kind of cat, wolves, bears, camels and so many more. Amy takes to all of them like she was raised in the wild. I find myself at peace with the animals as well. Over the coming months both Amy and I build a great relationship with all of the animals and the staff. The director is amazed at how well the wildlife responded to us.

Life is good. With over 400 animals to care for, the daily chores are never-ending. Over time, Amy and I build a relationship with the wolves. As we enter the cage area, we are greeted with affection and are accepted as part of the pack. We find out that there are members of the pack on the outside of the preserve and that at night they communicate with each other.

I find that the cats seem to be standoffish, just like the ones at the pet store when I first started to learn about my capabilities. Bears, camels, alpacas, and the other animals all take to both Amy and I. I love working with the foxes. They are just like dogs to me. I have them eating out of my hand and performing tricks when no one is around.

Over the winter, most of the animals are pretty active. They seem to like the cooler weather. Come March though, I notice that a few of the foxes are not doing very well. I bring it to the attention of the veterinarian staff and they begin to check them out more closely. Over the next month, it is determined that there is some kind of virus going around and the foxes are, kept in quarantine. By early May, several of the foxes die. The local ABC news station runs a piece on the sanctuary and the problem with the foxes.

Andy, the manager, tells the reporters about my capability with the animals. He calls me his animal whisperer. I am interviewed about my work with the foxes and the other wildlife. It is picked up by the network and runs as a wildlife special piece on Saturday morning around the country.
