Chapter 26 

Edith’s face was red, and her heart was beating fast. She felt that this posture was extremely intimate. However, when she saw how serious Carlos was, she felt embarrassed. 

Edith thought, “Oh, what am I thinking? 

He is just helping me out.” 

Sharon looked at them strangely. Edith and Carlos were so close to each other that no one would believe that there was nothing going on between them. 

Sharon wondered, “Could this be Carlos‘ new woman?” 

Carlos only put on an act for a moment. He quickly straightened his back and said evenly, “Mr. Fisher, since she has won, I’ll bear the consequences. Although I lost the business deal, I believe that I will cooperate with you. I think you’re a smart man.” 

“Yes, I’m also looking forward to our cooperation.” 

“Then I’ll take my leave first. I won’t disturb you anymore.” 

After that, Carlos wrapped his arms around Edith and pulled her into his embrace. 

Edith thought, “My goodness! 

What an intimate action! He is just a stranger to me. I don’t even know his name. Why has he been so close to me over and over again? It’s so embarrassing.” 

Edith followed Carlos. When she reached the door, she suddenly heard a familiar voice. 

“I’ve told you that I’m not in the mood recently. Why did you drag me here?”

“You’re not allowed to speak ill of her. Edith isn’t that kind of person.” 

Johann said angrily. 

When Edith heard this, she froze on the spot. 

In the corridor outside the door, Johann was surrounded by his friends and was walking over. 

He hung his head in dejection with a bit of sadness on his handsome face. 

Johann was as good–looking as a man from a comic book. 

Not long ago, this man was Edith’s lifelong reliance, but now, he was like a stranger to her. 

At that moment, Edith didn’t dare to meet Johann. 

Seeing that they were about to come over, she hurriedly pulled Carlos against the wall and buried her face deeply in his embrace to ensure that no one else could see her face. 

Carlos was caught off guard as well. He was actually thrown onto the wall by a woman. 

Edith took the initiative to move her soft body closer to him and pressed herself tightly against his chest. Her hands grabbed the corner of his clothes uneasily. She was trembling

He wondered why he felt uncomfortable when he saw Edith sad. 

“What’s wrong?” Carlos asked. 

“Help me hide from someone.” Edith’s voice was trembling. 

Carlos looked at those men and did not know which one she was talking about. 

The last time Edith was at the Lawstom Group, she was avoiding Simon. Now, there was another man. Carlos thought, “How can she be entangled with so many men?” 

Carlos was a little angry. 

“I don’t think I have the obligation to do that,” he said coldly. His attitude became nasty, and he tried to push Edith away with his big hand. 

Edith raised her head for help. Her eyes became misty and red as if she would cry at any time. 

She looked at Carlos expectantly and said in a shaking voice, “Please… help me.” 

Edith’s pitiful appearance was tempting, but she was begging Carlos because of someone else. 

Carlos‘ eyes glinted, and his lips curved in a smile. He said in a teasing voice, “Don’t regret it.” 

“What?” Edith was stunned.
