Chapter 11 

Edith felt it must be because she had lost too much money that she thought of Carlos. 

She shook her head repeatedly to get that face out of her mind. 

Once again, Edith stepped into this luxurious bar and told the bartender that she wanted to find Simon. When the bartender heard this, he brought Edith in without hesitation. 

After all, Simon fooled around here every day. He would not reject any girl who came to him. The bartender looked at Edith with slight disdain as if he was thinking that Edith was a greedy girl who wanted to hook up with a dandy. 

Feeling a little bitter, Edith pursed her lips and said nothing. 

She was led to a room with about a dozen girls inside. Simon would choose one among them. 

There were barmaids and volunteers from outside. 

As soon as Edith came in, she felt out of place. She came in a hurry and was still wearing a black uniform, which wrapped her up. 

The people around looked at Edith with disdain. 

“If you don’t change your clothes, Mr. Lawson won’t see you.” 

Hearing this, Edith had no choice but to borrow someone else’s clothes. 

When she put on the long dress, except for her private parts, the rest of her body was vaguely visible. 

When had Edith ever been dressed like this? 

But in order to see her husband, Edith had to gather her courage. 

The girls were led out of the door. It seemed that they were going to see Simon, looking as if an ancient emperor was selecting his concubines. 

Edith didn’t know that a person was secretly watching all this. 

Robert looked at the nervous Edith in the crowd and was confused, thinking, “Why is she here? And why is she dressed like this?” 

After asking his subordinates, Robert found out that Edith was also here for Simon. 

Robert wondered, “Edith wants to sell herself? Is she in trouble?” 

Edith’s face was very pure and innocent. She did not look like a prostitute at all. Since Edith had chosen this path, Robert felt rather than giving her to Simon, it was better to give her to… 

“Bring her here and send her to Room 2301 on the top floor.” 

When Robert’s subordinate heard the room number, he immediately shivered and said timidly, “Mr. Britton… I don’t think that’s a good idea.” 

“Do you want me to do that? Hurry up!” Robert said fiercely. 

The subordinate had no choice but to obediently step forward and intercept Edith. 

Edith was puzzled. 

“Aren’t we going to see Mr. Lawson?” 

“He’s upstairs. You don’t need to go with them. You can go there in advance,” the subordinate lied. 

Edith was slightly suspicious, but she ignored it because she was eager to see Simon.

She came to the room on the top floor, where warm yellow light was on. Although it was not very bright, the ambience was nice. 

Edith glanced around and found that there was no one inside, but the sound of running water came from the bathroom. 

She thought, “Could it be… that Simon is taking a shower?” 

Edith tiptoed over and was so nervous that she didn’t know what to do. 

What should she say when she saw her husband? 

Edith hesitated for a moment before summoning up all her courage to knock on the door. “Are… you’re inside? I’m Edith. You should’ve heard of me, right? I came to see you for some reason. You haven’t visited me for so long, so I know you are unwilling. I understand that you’re very busy and don’t 

have time to take care of me. 

“Since you’re unwilling, let’s just put on a show and get through this first, okay?” 

Edith said these words in a trembling voice, and her teeth were chattering. 

She was so nervous that her nails almost sank into her flesh. 

However, there was only the sound of splashing water inside, and there was no response. 

Edith gritted her teeth and said, “Since you’re busy, then…I won’t disturb you anymore. I’ll leave first. I wish you a good time!” 

She really didn’t have the courage to stay any longer. After saying that, Edith was about to turn around and leave, but the bathroom door suddenly opened.
