Chapter 10 

“Sure,” Carlos responded. 

He didn’t even bother to look at her. 

But she had to admit that his voice was really pleasant. 

Edith immediately picked up her things and left in a hurry. She was afraid that Carlos would pester her to repay the debi and not let her leave. 

She walked out of the room and heaved a sigh of relief. 

Her hands trembled. 

“This is definitely the first time in my life that I have squandered so much money!” she swore. 

As she was walking down the stairs, someone called her from behind. 

She turned around and realized that it was Robert. 

She swallowed subconsciously and asked in a trembling voice, “Is he here to get me to pay off the debt?” 

“You think too much. He doesn’t care about this little money. Even if you keep losing for the whole night, he won’t be bankrupt. However, it’s the first time I’ve seen someone like you. You have a poker master with you and yet, you can still make so many mistakes.” 

Edith blushed instantly. She looked away in embarrassment. 

“Did he come down specifically to mock me?” she wondered. 

Seeing that she was embarrassed, Robert could not bear to continue bullying her. 

“Teresa mentioned that you are working at Simpledux. Can you leave down your contact? I may need your company’s services in the future,” he said. 

“I see.” Edith quickly took out her business card from her bag and passed it to him respectfully. 

This group of people was very wealthy. If she was in a good relationship with them, they could possibly become her customers in the future. 

She bid farewell to Robert and left. He smiled meaningfully and looked at the business card in deep thoughts. 

“Hopefully, this girl will not disappoint me!” he thought. 

Edith didn’t get home until 11 p.m. She had to change a few buses to save on the expensive cab fees before she could reach home. 

Although the Lawsons had also given her money, she felt that it was not right to spend the money like that when she had not even officially met her husband. 

She didn’t expect Med to come. 

“Ms. White, since Mr. Lawson doesn’t take the initiative, Rubby hopes that you can step up instead. After all, you are husband and wife, and have to get along well with each other. Someone must take the first step.” 

“… I’ve to go to the company to look for him?” 

“That’s not necessary. This is Mr. Lawson’s number. You can ask him out. It’s inconvenient for you to be comfortable in the office environment, isn’t it? Rubby hopes that you can meet Mr. Lawson soon and start to build your relationship,” he added. 

Ned’s advice kept echoing in her mind.

She had to take the initiative as a girl. “Isn’t that too degrading?” she thought. 

However, she did not have a choice. For the sake of her uncle’s family, she could only compromise. 

She clutched the piece of paper tightly and keyed in the string of numbers into her phone. But she just couldn’t put a name to it. 

He was still a stranger to her. 

In the end, she plucked up all her courage and called with trembling hands. No one answered. 

“His phone is not with him?” 

She tried again. 

This time, it was cut off. 

The other party switched his phone off completely after that. 

Edith felt helpless. It seemed that her husband disliked her very much. 

he sighed faintly. Even if he refused to answer the phone, she still had to see him. Since it was an order from her future mother–in–law, she had to make ure it was fulfilled. 

dith sought Sarah’s help. She used all her connections to finally find out Simon’s regular hangouts. She learned that he would appear at the Royrd Bar : 10 o’clock every night.
