“Lace. Lacey, hobs"

I hear my husband's gentle voice trying to coax me out of my peaceful slumber

“Come on, love, open your eyes”

“Hey, when did you get home from work?"

surprise me if my parents took advantage of this to get their own way

You know the kind of voice men use in movies when they want to get information out of rats on the street or when they wanna scare

kids, yeah, that's the kind of voice I'm talking about, the only difference between the two is that Klayton's got a pretty strong Italian twang

to his voice which makes him sound even scarier but he doesn't scare me

If this was anyone else then I probably would've pissed myself or passed out again, that's how frightening my cousin looks and sounds right

now but this is Klayton we're talking about

To everyone else, he's the big, bad mafia Don who you don't wanna mess with because he will literally turn your ass into fish food if you do

but to me, he's just Klayton, my older cousin who I've loved and idolised ever since I was a little girl

For about a minute or so, Klayton just looked down at me with his lips pouted as his thumb gently stroked my chin

reason to leave”
