For an instant, Samantha panicked. Her heart began thumping uncontrollably. She couldn’t blame her past self for falling for Kendrick’s good looks. 

She collected herself and brushed her long locks aside. With a meaningful smile, she said, “I am aware that many women would love to be your guest. I’m not interested in crowding with the others. We should avoid being in the same room together.” 

Kendrick’s expression immediately hardened. No man would ever enjoy being rejected, much less a man who had experienced rejection before. 

Kendrick was distracted by his disappointment. Samantha seized the opportunity

the car door. Kendrick spun around and grabbed her hand with lightning- quick reflexes. 

The tension between the two surged as Kendrick’s large figure loomed over Samantha. 

Staring at the man leaning over her, Samantha forced a nervous smile. “What are you doing, Mr. Ford?” 

Kendrick bowed his head to observe the petite woman in his arms. She looked nothing like the Samantha he knew. Yet, he couldn’t stop himself from making the connection. 

As the temperature in the car rose, Samantha began to feel uncomfortable. She couldn’t figure out what Kendrick’s objectives were. She contemplated if he had less than honorable intentions toward her.. 

Lost in her thoughts, Samantha unconsciously bit her lower l*p. The movement was nothing less than inviting to Kendrick. He instantly captured her l*ps. 

He tightened his grip on her wrists to stop her from resisting. 

Samantha always had the idea that k*ssing was considered a romantic gesture. Never did she imagine that all her k*sses would be forced upon her by Kendrick. 

She was transported back to that night many years ago. She didn’t even think about pushing Kendrick away. 

He detected that her mind was elsewhere. So he deepened the k*ss, forcing her to return to her senses. He bit her l*p hard and she winced in response. It was only then that he released her. 

Samantha immediately pursed her l*ps. The pain served as a fresh reminder of

He had no right to be angry as he was the party that initiated the k*ss. Kendrick remained where he was. He stared at her with deep eyes. 

“As you’ve returned from abroad, I assume a goodbye k*ss doesn’t bother you?” 

“I wouldn’t mind a polite one, but this is the first time I’ve had such a deep goodbye k*ss.” Samantha didn’t bother concealing her anger. Hearing his ridiculous excuse, she urged to tear Kendrick to shreds. 

She never knew Kendrick could make jokes. 

“Really? Well, let’s practice a few more rounds then.” Kendrick was pleased to see that Samantha could do nothing but fume. 

This was the cost of rejecting him. He was already restraining himself from taking her. He was certain that the woman before him was Samantha, otherwise he wouldn’t have been so entranced by her. 

He glanced at her swollen l*ps but eventually allowed her to leave. 

Almost immediately, Samantha flung the door open and jumped out. She slammed the door shut. She had only taken two steps when she turned back around. In a fit of uncontrollable rage, she kicked the car for good measure before storming off. 

As the car alarm started blaring, she felt better. She had wanted to give Kendrick a good slap. But she missed the opportunity due to their difference in strength and how shaken she had been. So, she could only vent her anger on his car instead. 

She knew Kendrick couldn’t care less about her childish behavior. 

Unbothered, Kendrick lifted his head and caught sight of Samantha’s residential gate opening.

e tilted his head to get a better glimpse of the person inside. All he saw, though, was Samantha grumbling and the unknown person ducking back in. The gate quickly closed behind them. 

Kendrick’s hands tightened into fists as his brows furrowed. 

The thought of another man living in Samantha’s house fueled his desire to tear the house down. He wished to drag her back to his place. But he couldn’t do that right now. 

The Samantha from right now was no longer the one he knew. Kendrick stepped on the gas and left Cloudtop Villas.

While he was driving, his phone began to ring. In a somber tone, Damien informed him that Linda had met with an accident. This jogged Kendrick’s memory of his promise to share a meal with her. 

After seeing Samantha, it completely sl*pped his mind. 

Kendrick was irritated. At the thought of his mentor, he felt like he had no choice but to head to the hospital. 

Linda suffered minor scratches as she had merely driven into a fence. She also had a twisted ankle. Her foot got caught between the car pedals during the accident. 

Her initial reaction was to contact Kendric. She felt sorry for herself when she remembered how he forgot about their promise. So, she decided to contact Damien instead. She knew Kendrick well enough to know that he would definitely come if his good friend had called him.
