Blind date turned proposal (Josie and Dexter)
Chapter 1204 Negotiating With Wayne

Caleb was still worried. He hurried forward and advised, "Dexter, you're acting too impulsively!" Even Caleb himself couldn't have imagined that this adjective would be used to describe Dexter. "Do you still consider me the backbone of this situation?" Dexter suddenly stopped in his tracks. "As long as you make the right choice, of course, it still stands."

"In that case, just leave me alone."

Dexter dropped his final words and promptly climbed into Calvin's car. Subsequently, the car sped off.

Calvin frantically gestured at Calvin through the back mirror, his actions conveying a clear message that he would keep an eye on Dexter.

Larry quickly relayed the news. After disembarking, Wayne hadn't gone far. He was at the junction of the Rivodia-Wavery border. However, Wayne was currently resting and not receiving any visitors.

Dexter sneered. "Can he even rest well now?"

In the end, Caleb still had faith in Dexter. He ordered the Department of Transportation to close off the route for Dexter, ensuring his journey would be unimpeded. By the time Dexter arrived, it was half past four in the morning.

In this season, the sky was already on the brink of dawn.

Josie was still trapped in the water dungeon, where every second was fraught with danger. Dexter was racing against time to save her.

He sat in the car, gazing at the tightly shut mansion gates, his expression inscrutable. After a moment, he pulled out his phone and dialed a number.

No one answered.

Dexter sat in the car, swapping one SIM card after another, dialing the same number over and over again.

Calvin was stunned by the sight. "Will Mr. Dalton answer the call?"

"Everything is falling apart. He has to even if he doesn't want to."

No sooner had the words left his lips than the phone call connected. It was a mechanically altered voice that came through. "Mr. Russell, calling me this late isn't very gentlemanly of you."

Dexter's face was expressionless as he stared at the light that had come on in the mansion. "Arnold kidnapped my woman."

The single remark prompted the person on the other end of the line to fall silent for a few seconds. Immediately afterward, the attendant's hurried footsteps echoed.

Since something was amiss on the ship, Arnold would surely suppress the news, ensuring it didn't reach Wayne. However, Dexter took a direct approach, bypassing Arnold entirely. He went straight to Wayne to discuss the matter.

"Oh, who's that?" Wayne expressed with a hint of surprise.

"My ex-wife."

There was a pause on the other end of the line once again. After a few seconds, he covered the receiver and exchanged a few words with the attendant.

Dexter, however, didn't give him a chance. "Mr. Dalton, this is not how business is done. Anything goes on the surface, but when it comes to human lives, it's illegal."

His words were laced with threats.

"He accused me, both overtly and covertly, of taking his things such as money and cash. To make such a serious accusation without any evidence is surely crossing a line. Outsiders who don't know better might think you're deliberately targeting me, Mr. Dalton. That wouldn't be favorable."

Dexter sat in the driver's seat, his face expressionless as he stared straight ahead. Before long, the mansion's gates swung open, revealing the opulent manor within.

Wayne said over the phone, "Please come in for a discussion."

Dexter pushed the car door open and was about to enter alone. Calvin tried to stop him. "It's too dangerous. You don't have anyone with you."

Dexter glanced at him. "Isn't it enough to have you?"

That was an absolute trust between buddies.

The manor was merely a temporary residence, yet it was well-staffed with numerous servants. Dexter entered alone, unimpeded, making his way up to the third floor. The study was spacious, and as soon as he stepped in, the door automatically closed behind him.

It seemed that Wayne was genuinely asleep at that time. His mask wasn't as exquisite as before, barely concealing his face. He sat in the seat of honor, his gaze piercing. "Mr. Russell, I've been informed abou the situation. Regarding Josie, I can assure you that she will be safe."

Dexter stood off to the side, waiting for Wayne to utter his subsequent sentence. "However, she has to first pay some price."
