66. Mage Training

Okay, this information is startling me for a moment, but I had to get rid of the thought and clear my mind. But all I could think about, was my baby.

I was horny around Brock, every time I saw him. I had a sudden dislike for bacon, and I threw up in the bucket in my room. The symptoms were there all this time, but I didn’t connect the dots, clearly I didn’t want to. Maybe I’m just overly excited already, about the wedding. And with all the new abilities that I have right now, my mind is pretty much occupied.

Will Brock be happy? He said yesterday that he wanted to become a dad one day, but maybe this was too soon for him. Well, I can't stop it now, he will become a dad very soon. I’m not sure how far along I am, but as Cirilya could hear the baby’s heart, than it must be at least seven or eight weeks. Because before that, it is really hard to find the heartbeat, even with an ultrasound. So, at least two months… I was calculating in my mind, It must have been around the time, that Brock and I were at the Hunters Lodge. Before I got poisoned and Brock broke up with me.

Cirilya was talking to me, but I didn’t hear her. All that I could notice, was her mouth open and close, as my mind was drifting off, to some other place. The nursery, the plush toys, the little clothes, girl or boy…

Cirilya snapped her fingers in front of my face, getting me out of my thoughts.

“Hello? You still in there?” Cirilya said, smiling at me.

“I know you want to think about that small thing in your belly, but if you want to protect it, you’d better start listening!” Cirilya got a bit angry now, and I knew why. She wanted to protect the baby too.

“We need to start talking about your magic outburst, as you so lightly mentioned earlier. Because, this little outburst, is not ‘light’ at all.” Cirilya said with a sigh at the end.

She had told me, to not use this ability too much, as it will only grow in power every time I do. First, I thought that it was a great thing. But she explained to me, that the more powerful it will become, the more energy it will take as well. It will danger the baby, if I can't control it, which is something that must never happen.

I’m hoping, that no one would threaten my loved ones, when we are in battle. As it will be the hardest moment to control myself, if they get hurt, or worse.

Besides that, my hormones are raging through my body as well, so this will make it an even more difficult job to stay calm. I’ll be easy to lose my temper, and start an all raging, solo war, against anyone that stands in my way. For a moment, I was thinking about those wretched Orcs that killed Dolly, and attacked all the people that I love. Then I thought about those terrible moments that Markus caused by forcing Brock to split up with me.

“Emily! Calm down!” Cirilya yelled, as she shook my shoulders, trying to snap me out of it.

“Your eyes are red! Calm down!” Cirilya yelled again, but I formed fists with my hands and breathed heavily. I couldn’t shake those awful thoughts out of my mind. A few other things popped up, like that moment when I saw that Cirilya was badly hurt, or when Archeops was falling down with his mount.

My rage started to build up, and kept going. But I had to get rid of this, it’s not good for the baby! Oh my god! My baby! My beautiful, little, precious child that resides within my belly.

“Cirilya, come up with something to ease my mind!” My rage kept building, and I saw dust starting to whirl up around us.

Suddenly, I could feel a warm hand on my belly, and Cirilya calmly said to listen to her mind. I looked at her, with wide eyes, and then I heard it again. That beautiful, rapid humming of fast heartbeats.

Thump-thump… thump-thump… thump-thump…

Tears started to form in my eyes, and I could feel the heels of my feet touch the ground again. I hadn’t realized, that I almost started to hover above the ground, just like in the dungeons. My rage ended, I took a big breath, and quickly, I gave Cirilya a hug.

“Well I guess I’m coming along to the rebel camp…” Cirilya said with a sigh.

While checking Bastet and her eggs, we talked about the danger of the Mage’s Fury some more, but I could feel that there was more information that she withheld. She is my friend, so I’m going to let it go for now. I will ask about it tomorrow. We kept on talking, and decided that we shouldn’t split up during the battle. We would stick together like glue, so that if the moment came, that she had to calm my nerves again, she would be there.

After this, we were starting the actual mage training.

We didn’t have the time, for me to learn the ancient mage language, so we decided to focus on the things, that I had done before already. So, mind reading, communication at a long distance and forcefields.

Cirilya had explained to me, that reading people’s mind, only works, if you have an emotional connection with them. I remembered the people, that I could read the minds of, and what my emotional connection with them could be. Brock was easy, Tom was because I felt a sisterly bond with Natalya, and Markus’ connection with me was of utter hatred.

It took me some time to read the minds, of the guards outside, but eventually I managed to do that. I am their Princess and if time comes, I will be their Queen. I am feeling the need for all of my people to be safe, there is a certain love for them in my heart.

Even though they are standing outside the door, I could hear their minds, and see images of their families and loved ones. Happy, joyous sights of their children and wives.

It still felt strange though, even as it is unknown to them, I did invade their privacy. I took a mental note, to only use this power on others, when it was really necessary. Well… I would use it on Brock though… on some special occasions, in the bedroom. I softly giggled, thinking of his thoughts, during our last sexual adventure.

Okay, next part. Communication at a distance.

“I want to talk to Natalya about something, how do I do that?”

“The same as with the guards, you have to find an emotional bond, with the one you want to contact. Almost every mage ability works the same way, it is all based on your intelligence and the bonds you have with others.”

So, my emotional bond with Natalya, that shouldn’t be a problem.

“Hey little sis! How are you doing?”

“Ahhhh! Who is this!” She screamed, and I chuckled.

“I called you little sis, who would I be?”

“Emily? Wow! Yes, it's going great here.”

“Did William arrive at the house? And if he did, could you arrange clothes and food, for him and his three-year old daughter?”

“Yes he did, he is an excellent worker, strong too! I’ll prepare a box for him, at the end of his shift.”

“Thanks, talk to you later!”

Well that’s sorted as well, now for the last part. Forcefields… I remembered to explode a bale of hay, so I’m dreading this ability the most…

Cirilya explained to me, that forcefields can be used for several purposes. I have seen and used forcefields in practical uses already, like when Cirilya used it to keep Rhydon’s leg secure, and when I used it to turn the eggs inside Bastet. But, forcefields can also be used during battle. One, to keep someone save from an incoming attack, two, to contain a bad person from attacking someone else, and third for offense.

The first two, are easy for me to accept in doing, making sure that people can’t get hurt or do bad things to others. But the offense part is rather gruesome, and I’d rather not use that one. Cirilya explained to me that the bale of hay exploded, because I created a forcefield from within the bale, and then let it expand with force. So, if I were to use it on a Orc or Human, then I had to create a forcefield from within the body and then let it expand with alot of energy, and thus let the person explode… Right. Like I said, gruesome.

Cirilya made me train, with the forcefields, for hours. Perfecting the size of them, and make them appear and expand really fast. We weren’t inside the barn anymore, as this would be dangerous and stressful for the Gryphons.

“You have to focus, on how big the bale of hay is, Emily! If you have to create a forcefield, and then adjust the size, it’s going too slow. You have to be able, to create the right size immediately. Otherwise an incoming attack, would strike the person you’re trying to protect, before you have the shield ready.” Cirilya said to me.

She is one tough trainer! All this time today, she was training me to the fullest of my abilities. Commanding me to continue, even though I was really tired. She reminded me of my baby, and that I have to be able to protect it. There was no need, to constantly tell me that though. All I could think about, was that little thing inside of me.
