Chapter 20 ~Obviously Their Son!

Kendrick’s POV ~

I literally sneer “That’s a whole lot of Nope, right there! You want to hypnotize Bella and access Angelica’s memory? After all of you have already taken the decision that her memories are harmful.. painful..and frightening?” Bella strokes my back, saying quietly “Let’s do it, now. Then we can process the information in those files..and compare them to my memories.”

Alex and I are looking at each other, with furious looks. This is insane! Angel is willing to feel the pain, just so we have answers! Loren is telling us what will happen “Bella, once you are under the hypnotic spell, I will call Angelica forward..she will feel sleepy..and that’s normal. Doing that, suppresses her pain neurons and will make it easier for her. Your mom will be ready with her sketch pad, to draw whatever Angel remembers.”

I am still full of a shitload of Nope! But, I will support my mate.. in whatever she decides. Alexis looks at me, saying “Kendrick, I want you on the sofa..your back against the arm. Bella, relax your body against him and wrap his arms around you. His wolf will provide Angel with the security she will need to tell her story” Like I would be anywhere else!

The lights are dimmed and several candles lit around the sofa, as Helena starts a chant.. within moments, Bella’s body relaxed and Loren speaks “Angelica! Angel! Awaken and look at your King!” Her eyes spring open.. literally glowing a deep purple.. swirling silver glistens in them. He gasps and says “My angel! You are the Goddess’s chosen child! Your eyes are the swirling galaxies of Legend!” He spins around and asks “Why did I not know this? Alexis! This complicates things further! Why would you not mention this to me?”

Alexis starts to tear up again “We didn’t know, Daddy! We only ever saw her eyes in the half light of the training center! All that aside, what the fuck! What Legend, Daddy? How is she the Goddess’s chosen? What does that even mean?”

I speak up “This is a titillating conversation, but can we listen to Angelica right now? Put a pin in the chosen Legend discussion for later!” Everyone agrees and Loren commands Angel to summon her memories.

“It’s dark, where I am. I can hear crying..in my head, I think.. then I feel pain. My whole body hurts. I can hear voices. A man.. yelling to take me back. The King will kill them both. Now a woman.. she tells him she will take me back, once she has all my power. Then a stick.. a pinprick..something sharp in my skin making my whole body burn.

Chanting.. it feels as though all the blood is being suck from my body. More crying.. sobbing. That’s my human! These people are hurting my human! Opening my eyes, I see we are in a cabin..and I am squirming on a table. Straps hold me down. My human is scared. And sad. The witch slaps Bella’s face..yelling shut up.. then another slap.

I awake another time. Bella is crying. We are thirsty. Hungry! More yelling to shut up and slapping. She takes a red glowing stick with a disc and presses it into Bella’s thigh. It burns! So bad and my human screams.

The next time I come forward, the witch and man are arguing again. He wants to drop me off somewhere. Said we are being searched for. She tells him she can’t take all my power until the sigil brand remains. That my body heals it and refuses to accept her brand.

I don’t know how many days this goes on. I awaken to more yelling, this time, it’s different. There is a boy..older..maybe five.. sitting on the floor, across the room from the table I am strapped to. He’s eating a sandwich.

The man slaps the woman.. telling her this is the last day. Either she succeeds or they dump me somewhere away from here. Coming over to Bella, she sticks another needle in her skin. Then turns to the fireplace, pulling out the glowing stick.. starts burning Bella with it. First one leg.. then the other. Back to the first..when she pressed it into Bella’s belly.. I shifted! The straps fell away and I lunged for that witch’s throat. That awful man caught me up and said “It can’t be! You don’t exist” and he threw me across the room.

He told the witch “Her parents are nearly here. We are leaving now.” But the witch demanded they stay..saying she knows she can siphon my power.. he just grabs the boy and storms out of the cabin. She tried to brand me two more times, and I had already shifted back. I couldn’t help anymore. I was too tired.”

She finished speaking and collapsed against me. I watched her parents faces and seeing the expression, I knew they were horrified. Alexander and Baron were both openly crying. She was a baby. And she was tortured. Even her family didn’t know to what extent!

Olivia says “That explains a lot. The weight loss..the bruises.. the red marks on her thighs. Why didn’t the sigil brand hold? It should have, simply because of her age! So, how was she able to prevent it?” Loren says “She is the Legend. The chosen child of the Moon Goddess…and if I remember the Legend correctly.. she is the next Goddess! Helena..we need to speak with Selene and Hecate. Please send a missive!”

My mate is the not only the Princess, and heir apparent to the throne.. She is the next Moon Goddess? Holy shit! Our lives just got a whole lot more complicated! This whole time, her parents remained silent. As Bella stirred awake, she looked at Alexis and said “Hand me a sketchbook!”

Less than an hour later, we were looking at three very lifelike drawings of a man, woman, and child. The man looked tall..brown wavy hair. A long nose, flared at the nostrils. Brown eyes. A cleft in his chin. The woman had dirty blonde hair to her shoulders…pretty, with green eyes and dimples in her cheeks.. it was the child that drew my attention. His hair was darker than the mother’s but lighter than the man’s. A mousy brown. His eyes were the green of the woman’s..with the dad’s nose. He had her dimples and his cleft. Obviously their son!
