Demon POV

We stopped at a river that is a mile away from the pack lands and everyone washed the blood and the skin of others off. As the river turns red it carries the actions of the night with the tainted waters.

I grab the extra clothes that we had hidden here and put them on as the others slowly started to get out the water and do the same.

Sonja and Onyx were a few feet away chuckling about something and it put a small smile on my face.

Once we get revenge, I will make sure to do what Amos and Knox have suggested and court Onyx.

I will make her happy and safe and protect our kids and pack as well. But I must get rid of any possible threats to that future of mine, so killing innocents is a necessary that can’t be helped.

“is it really tho?”

“Yes, shadow it is”

“Okay than is enjoying the torture you inflict on them a necessary too?”

Shrugging I zone out, “If they want to be disgusting and treat everything around like their playthings than I will just retaliate that. I don’t see a issue in torturing them when they are doing the same.”

“I know they enjoy it but-”

I felt a tug on the link but I paid it no mind, “Shadow, I don’t know why I like to see their blood spilled, nor do I know why their screams bring me pleasure. Maybe I am a product of the environment that showed no love or mercy to anyone even if they submit to the stronger one. I don’t know, so whenever we raid a pack, and you think I am taking it too far than you can take control and handle ways that you see fit but I will not show mercy to our pack nor Onyx’s pack. They will perish and not one thing will live when we are done.”

Onyx spoke through the link before Shadow said anything, “Mika, I would like you to know that you can do the same as well. And Demon I’m sorry for invading your head, it’s just that everyone has been trying to get your attention, but you wouldn’t answer so I wanted to see what is going on.”

I turn my head to Onyx’s scent and see her looking away from me.

I nod slightly to the people around me with worried eyes looking at me.

Onyx starts to turn away from me causing me to use my speed and step beside her gently grabbing her chin.

I sink in her deep-sea eyes and smile softly, “There is nothing to be sorry about my little queen. I told you that you can access my head whenever you wish.”

Kissing her forehead, her breath hitches encouraging me to kiss her cheek near her pretty lips before I turn to the others there.

They all had shit eating grins on their faces at my affections to her and the blush that came after my gentle assault.

I cough a little and clap my hands once, “Okay so we are a mile out from the pack and I know some of you brought your mates with you so I will say this once and you all can spread it to the others.”

They stood at attention with that and nothing, but silence took the land around us.

“If you find your mate and they wish to come with you then we will spare them, but they will have to go through the field, and you must let them.”

I paused as some shivered at the memory of what they experience through the darkness.

“If they are taken to the cliffs to die then you will have a choice to let them die or to go with them and leave the pack or final choice is to kill them yourselves.”

The silence became thick with fear from the outsider and determination from the members.

“If they pass the test then you will be able to take them to where you live, and we can figure out living arrangements after that, but they must pass on their own. We will know if they do or not, Understand?”

They all voiced yes excepts for a few who looked very scared and unsure in the back.

Onyx stands beside me, “The rules apply to the slaves that came with us as well. Know that you are no longer a slave, and you are free to follow us and join our pack or you can leave and live your life. The choice is yours.”

The former slaves didn’t look as scared but still hesitant.

A breeze caresses our skin with the sun chasing the night and its shadows away.

Facing the way to the pack I hold my hand out to Onyx and try not to turn red as I hear someone coo at us. Pretty sure it was Nathan and Zack, dumbasses.

She blushes and places her hand in mine with Sonja smirking behind her like a proud mother.

I roll my eyes at the idiots and interlock our fingers loosely so she can pull away if she wants. She doesn’t but instead blushes some more and has my heart slow almost to a stop.

Shadow come to the forefront, and we lift her hand to my lips hoping that we weren’t pushing boundaries and kiss her knuckles.

As our lips touch her soft skin, we lock eyes with hers and see the surprise and affection that glow in her eyes.

A chuckle slips from me as Shadow say, “Breath my little queen or I will have to carry you home.”

She releases the breath she was holding, and I chuckle a little as Shadow lets go of the small amount of control he has.

Huffing she starts pulling me in the forest with the others following behind.

The walk to the pack is calm but once we passed over into the pack. The fear of the outsiders came full force and knew the test has begun.

I turn back to them waiting to see what the magic says about the wolf trying to be a member of this pack.

After 15 minutes Esmeralda comes to us, “Elders, they all passed the test. Some of them may need to shower before they do anything else, but they mean no harm to the pack and would like to help.”

I watch Onyx nod with a small smile on her face, acknowledging that she wanted them in our pack.

I open the pack link and wait for the swarm of thoughts to calm before making myself known, “We have new members to our pack make sure that you give them time to adjust and when they are ready then you can make sure that they are welcomed. Esmeralda, get them settled in and if you need help ask. Yvonna, I need you to get ready for the new members to get a place. Is that going to be a problem for you two?”

“No High priest”

Yvonna’s Russian voice come after Esmeralda, “No Alpha and Also welcome home High Priest and Priestess”

“Thank you, Yvonna”

I see Onyx smiling at me from the corner of my eye and release all the doubt that I ever had out of my mind saying, “A home…finally”
