Twisted Ties of Love
Chapter 270

"Meow."

The eight-month-old Ragdoll cat had grown to a weight of twenty-two pounds. Tiara kept its fur immaculately clean. When it stared at you with its pair of blue eyes, it was the epitome of docility.

The Ragdoll cat was particularly friendly to humans. Even when facing Brett, who looked gloomy all day, it would approach him, rub against him with its head, and then leisurely leave after leaving its fur on him At this moment, Brett was looking at Izabella's photos on his phone. The Ragdoll cat also jumped over to take a look, hopped onto the back of the sofa, and kneaded Brett's shoulder with its paws. Brett, who used to despise pets and wouldn't even touch them, didn't find it annoying at all when the cat stepped on him. He stretched out his hand and rubbed the Ragdoll cat's head, then turned around. He held the cat in his arms, and pointed to Izabella's picture on the phone, saying, "Your mom will be back soon."

The Ragdoll cat rubbed the phone and made a soft meow.

"Izabella, stop right there!" Brett shouted.

Would she dare to stop? Izabella was practically running and climbing up the stairs as if being chased by a ghost. She didn't dare to look back, but she could feel Brett's chilling gaze on her back. Holding onto the railing with one hand and her belly with the other, Izabella clumsily climbed up to the third floor.

The door closed, and Izabella frantically searched through her bag. With a shiver, her backpack fell to the floor, and all sorts of stuff inside scattered. Seeing that she was running out of time, she didn't bother picking up the items, but instead poured everything out of the bag, finally finding a key at the very bottom. Her hands, which were already clumsy due to her disability, were shaking uncontrollably with fear. The key was clearly in her hand and the lock right in front of her, but she just couldn't get it right. Finally, she managed to insert the key.

The sound of heavy footsteps echoed in Izabella's ears.

"Bella, you've had enough fun outside, come home with me." Brett's words echoed through the silent hallway, striking Izabella like thunder. Her mind went blank, and her breathing stopped.

After what felt like a long time, Izabella slowly regained her senses. But she felt as if she was living in a nightmare, being consumed by an endless fear. Brett found her. Was she going to lose her child? Seeing her clutching her belly, Brett let out a sigh of relief. This proved that she had not regained her memory. If she had remembered, how could she bear to carry his child? Brett felt a bitter taste in his mouth and moved closer to Izabella.

His movements were slow, but each tiny step echoed heavily in Izabella's heart. When Brett's gaze fell on her, it was like a tight net that left her nowhere to escape.

The key in her hand dropped with a "click" and bounced to her feet. Brett slowly approached, bent over to pick up the key, and opened the door. From the back, it looked like Brett had Izabella entirely in his arms. They seemed close, but their clothes didn't even touch.

"Bella, I'm here to take you home," Brett said gently. He looked at Izabella's pale face as the dim sensor light in the hallway shone weakly on her frail figure.

Izabella frowned, her long lashes covering her teary eyes as she bit her lip tightly. As Brett got closer, in addition to fear, there was also a strange ripple. Having been hurt so many times, seeing him again still evoked feelings of attraction, which was truly nauseating.

Due to the lack of movement, the sensor light suddenly went out. In the pitch-black hallway, Brett could barely make out her silhouette. Forgetting his restraint for a moment, he greedily hugged Izabella's waist, pushed open the door with one hand, and took her into the room. He blindly reached for the switch on the wall and pressed it without hesitation, instantly illuminating the surroundings.

The light in the room was much brighter than the sensor light in the hallway, making Izabella's face look even paler. Izabella couldn't avoid this man any longer. She knew that avoiding was the most powerless choice.

"Brett, I'm not going back with you." She looked at him with tear-filled eyes, revealing determination, just as stubborn as she used to be.

Brett's least favorite thing about Izabella was her stubbornness, her refusal to heed advice. Like when she had stomach cancer and hid it from him.

What good did it do to hide it from him? None. Not only did it do no good, she was wronged and treated horribly by him a lot.

If Izabella had told him the truth sooner, maybe they wouldn't be where they were now.

Now, they were standing on the edge of a cliff, and regardless of what was below, they could only jump down.

Brett looked at her, gently stroked her face with his hand, his voice low and soft, "Bella, you've been out there for almost three months now, it's time to come back with me and terminate the pregnancy." Izabella froze, looking at him through tear-filled eyes and said, "This is a four-month-old child I'm carrying, I won't go back with you to abort him."

Brett looked down at her, placing his hand on her face, and gently wiped the corner of her eye with his thumb. His voice was slow and calm, as if narrating an insignificant matter, "Without me, where would this child come from? This child is an accident. He shouldn't have appeared, and you shouldn't have given birth to him. Izabella, I'm saying this for your own good. Will you please go and have an abortion? We didn't have children before, and weren't we doing fine? Keeping this child will only bring us misfortune."

Brett's words brought tears to Izabella's eyes. She cried hard, her body convulsing.

Izabella's tears had a certain deterrent effect on Brett. He would feel bad and would back down just to make her happy. But not this time, Izabella had to abort the baby.

Izabella was on cancer medication and about to enter her next treatment phase. Pregnancy would endanger her life. He had to take the baby from her belly to save her.

Izabella shouted out, "Your existence has brought me misfortune! What right do you have to say that this has nothing to do with you? The child has been in my belly for four months, why should I give it up just because you say so? Whether the baby can live should be decided by me, its mother. Even if the whole world rejects it, I will protect it!"

Brett said, "The problem isn't whether you're willing to give up or not, but that you don't have a choice!" Brett didn't want to tell Izabella she had cancer, fearing she would regain her memory and leave him. Such selfishness made his words of concern sound ridiculous.

Izabella didn't react for a moment, then started to struggle as if she'd gone mad, not understanding what he meant.

What did he mean she didn't have a choice? What did he mean she had to give up this child?

To her, Brett was a madman at this moment.

"Let me go, I don't want to see you, get out! Get out!" In her haste, Izabella slapped Brett hard across the face.

Whether Brett was in pain or not, she didn't know, all she felt was the numbness in her right palm.

The crisp sound of the slap echoed loudly in the quiet room. Izabella had used all her strength and yet Brett's face hadn't moved an inch, which scared her even more.

"Have you had enough? Are you done venting?" Brett's eyes were still cold and indifferent, "If you're not done venting, keep going. When you're not angry anymore, we'll go to the hospital. I've already made arrangements there."

Despite being so indifferent, Brett's words were surprisingly sincere, even accompanied by a subtle and imperceptible depth of affection, which was nauseating!

Due to emotional turmoil, Izabella's chest heaved intensely. She raised her hand and slapped Brett, feeling unsatisfied. Then she began punching and kicking him, and ultimately opened her mouth to bite his neck until it bled.

Brett stood there like a log, his eyebrows slightly furrowed, letting Izabella bite him.

Izabella's strength was too weak. Clearly, she was the one biting Brett, but she also ended up in pain. Tears sled down her cheeks and into her mouth. She let out a choked sob, feeling somewhat nauseous. Izabella pushed Brett away sharply, wiping the blood from her mouth, "Brett, I hate you, if you take away my child, I will hate you for a lifetime! I will never forgive you!"

Izabella's face was dark, as she looked at him coldly with her chest heaving.

Brett dared not look directly at Izabella like this, he didn't know how to persuade her to abort the baby.

Why did Izabella value it more than her own life?

Brett said, "If your hatred for me will make you willingly abort the baby, then I'll accept it. You'll never forgive me for the rest of your life, and I'll use my life to make it up to you."

"Brett, you're a beast." Izabella moved her lips, "I don't need you to make up for anything, all I ask is that you leave me alone. Get away from my life completely. Brett, you've never experienced maternal love, have you? Otherwise, how could you bear to make a mother kill her own child?"
