Twisted Ties of Love
Chapter 230

"You deserve someone who's gentle and cares for you, not someone who hangs up without hearing your explanation." After saying that, Nathaniel added, "If you were with me, I'd give you enough freedom and not interfere with your social life. At least, respect and trust are essential."

Izabella's face became a bit heavy. She knew better than anyone else what kind of person Brett was, and she didn't need an outsider to worry about her.

"Trying to stir things up between me and my husband won't work."

Nathaniel smirked, "Whether it's stirring things up or not, you'll find out when you go back."

Even though Izabella's mind isn't as sharp as before, it doesn't mean she's stupid.

From the things Nathaniel said, she could almost be sure that his approach to her wasn't love at first sight but had an ulterior motive.

Izabella stared at her phone, looking pale. She looked at the cake in front of her; it had a sweet smell and looked appetizing, but her stomach was blocked, and she couldn't eat anything. How could she cheer up an angry man?

Izabella pondered this question. Today she's in the wrong; she shouldn't have lied to Brett, saying she was eating alone.

She called the waiter and ordered two cakes to be packed.

"Do you finish it?" Nathaniel looked at the plate in front of her. She had only eaten a few bites of the steak, just a little of the appetizer, and the soup was barely touched.

"I'm full already. Thank you for your treat." Izabella took out her card, "Let's split the bill for this meal."

Clearly, she was determined to draw a line between her and Nathaniel.

Nathaniel didn't say anything, seeing her indifferent attitude, but his eyes became increasingly dangerous.

Izabella took the cake to settle the bill at the front desk, only to be told that she didn't have to pay for the meal because Nathaniel was the owner of this restaurant. Izabella was stunned for a moment, looking back, Nathaniel was standing behind her, winking at her.

"Do you want to transfer the money to me?"

"Yes, give me your account."

"Why bother? Just add me on Facebook."

Nathaniel took out his phone, and in Izabella's recently registered Facebook, there was only Brett. She hadn't posted any contents, and there was nothing private in her news. Izabella transferred money to him.

After Nathaniel confirmed the receipt, he knew he couldn't keep her and said, "Let me take you home. It's still raining outside."

"No need." Izabella's expression was cold.

Nathaniel didn't insist further. He watched Izabella leave, took out his phone, flipped to the message page, and clicked on the message at the top.

When he saw the photos sent by the other party, he smiled, selected a few pictures with ambiguous angles, and sent them to Brett.

Meeting Izabella today was a coincidence, and he didn't expect such a big gain. He was curious to see Brett's reaction after receiving these photos. Could he really not care and trust Izabella's words? Did he not feel the slightest estrangement in his heart?

After seeing the other party receive the message, Nathaniel sneered, his eyes bright and clear, and put the phone into his coat pocket.

At this moment, Brett was in the president's office dealing with work. Because of the call he just made to Izabella, he felt very anxious and restless.

He couldn't read a word on the computer screen, with a headache. He sat in a leather chair, supporting his head with his left hand while holding a half-smoked cigarette in his right. The phone on his desk suddenly vibrated. Brett glanced sideways, looking at it.

When he saw the name on the message, his deep eyes looked even darker, gloomy and cold.

He opened the message, and when he saw the photos, it was as if every cell in his body was ignited.

There were a total of five photos, and the people in the photos were Nathaniel and Izabella.

From their intimate actions in the photos, it seemed like they were the loving couple.

In the movie theater, the man was leaning on Izabella's shoulder; In the restaurant, they were sitting at a couple's table, and there was also a picture of Izabella adding Nathaniel on Facebook. Aside from anger, Brett's eyes were filled with indescribable complexity, his mood sinking to the bottom.

Was this Izabella's so-called going to a movie alone? Eating lunch alone?

He couldn't believe that even though Izabella had amnesia, her mind was still slow, but she was still so good at lying!

What he couldn't think of even more was Nathaniel would be with Izabella.

Brett's eyes flashed with ferocity as he smashed the phone against the wall. The phone fell to the ground, and the screen shattered.

He pushed the chair behind him and walked towards the door. Just then, Liam came with a document. Seeing Brett's gloomy face, he subconsciously stopped.

"President Windham, where are you going?"

"Going home."

"But there's an important meeting this afternoon."

"Cancel it." He just wanted to go back and ask Izabella why she lied to him when she knew he hated deception the most.

As Brett hesitated, Liam thought he had changed his mind to continue working, but Brett picked up the smashed phone off the floor.

"Go to the mall and purchase a phone. Send it to my office tomorrow morning."

"Okay." Liam glanced at the phone in Brett's hand, which was smashed so badly that it showed how angry he was.

Although Brett was strict at work, he had never lost his temper. This was obviously because of issues at home. Liam thought of Izabella.

As soon as Brett left, Liam had no choice but to cancel the meeting and reschedule it.

Izabella stood at the mall entrance to avoid the rain, waiting for a taxi home. A cold wind mixed with fine rain blew over, and Izabella shivered, holding the cake firmly in her hands. Sweets can make people feel happy. She hoped that Brett would not be too angry after eating the cake.

Izabella wanted to go straight to the Windham Group to meet Brett, but she didn't know where Brett's workplace was.

After hesitating for a moment, she nervously called Brett.

The call went through, and after a few seconds of waiting, the other party answered.

"Brett, I brought some cake. Where's your office? I'll come meet you."

"No need, just wait for me at home." He hung up without waiting for Izabella's reply.

Izabella stood there dumbfounded, with the cold wind constantly blowing at her. She could hardly feel the cold though, because her heart felt even colder than her skin.

The anger in her heart brought a sour, swelling pain. Izabella clenched her teeth, her eyes turning red from the injustice.

She had confidently believed that Brett would trust and respect her, but now his change in attitude left her uncertain about his thoughts. Caught off guard in a rapidly changing game, people always feel hesitant and timid when faced with uncertainty.

Izabella let out a long sigh, feeling as if there was a heavy stone pressing on her chest, making her breathless.

A taxi was parked outside, and after checking the license plate, Izabella walked out of the mall, carefully holding the cake.

It was a short distance from there to her home, just a few minutes by car.

Adrian stood at the door, holding a cup and looking into the distance. When he saw Izabella return, his eyes lit up, "Ma'am, you're back. Did you take your medicine?"

"I did."

Adrian looked at her red, freezing fingers and quickly walked over, "Ma'am, what are you holding?" As he spoke, he reached out his hand, "Let me help you with that. You should take a hot bath and warm up." Adrian was almost as old as Izabella's father, and everyone in the family treated her well. Izabella considered them her own family.

Seeing Adrian's kind smile, Izabella felt much warmer, but she shook her head, "Adrian, I can hold it myself."

"Alright."

Izabella took the cake back to her bedroom and placed it on the bedside table.

She didn't take a bath, just wiped her wet hair with a clean towel and changed into her pajamas.

Cancer patients are physically weak and cannot endure coldness, nor can they stand the cold. Moreover, she just took her medicine and was so dizzy that she could not help but want to sleep. Suddenly, everything around her became quiet, only the sound of rain outside could be heard.

Izabella sat on the edge of the bed, looking down at the dark carpet on the floor. She took off her shoes and stepped on it barefoot, the soft touch slightly relaxing her nerves.

Izabella tilted her head and zoned out for a while, then got into bed, pulled the blanket over her and checked her phone.

No one had called her or sent any messages. She checked the time - it was two o'clock in the afternoon.

Brett would come home at six, so Izabella made sure her phone wasn't on silent and set an alarm for four o'clock.

At three in the afternoon, a luxury car entered the villa and parked in the outdoor parking area.

Brett got out of the car, his face dark and angry. His deep eyes seemed to be filled with a storm about to erupt.
