“You, idiot! You really scared me this time!” I cried out to him as he laid motionless on the hospital bed with eyes half-opened.

My hands were gripping his hand as I tried to control the tears that came out of fear of losing him. There was a heavy silence in the air between the both of us as I looked at his tired eyes, pleading with him to succumb to me.

“Stop crying, Ugly.”

His hand moved weakly to wipe the tears off my face as I looked at him. My heart feels like it could break any moment now. I couldn’t handle seeing him like this. I have to go out and calm myself down for a moment.

But as soon as I stood up and before I could step away from my chair, I felt Chris weakly grabbing my hand, attempting to tug it back to where I was.

“Please, don’t leave.” He whispers. “Stay.”
