To Be Yours Again novel (Jenny and Alex)
Chapter 932 It Was Obvious, No?

She didn't expect the inside of the villa to appear so calm. There was little to no one inside the space as the butler led her through. The interior of the villa was far better than the exterior, too, like it had been under proper maintenance for a long time.

There was a small mansion to the side, which appeared to look just as rundown, though Jenny guessed that was only a mask for its actual furnished interior.

A room on the first floor of the mansion caught Jenny's attention, as it was surrounded by guards.

Stephanie might be in there, Jenny thought. She hurriedly memorized the place in mind.

The butler brought her into the mansion, where Jenny finally met the man orchestrating this whole charade-Zeke Faust.

"Have a seat, Miss Walter." The old man nodded at her, gesturing at a seat to the side. He was being more than courteous right now, so Jenny quietly went to take a seat.

Silence ensued. The old man then asked, "Aren't you curious as to why I've asked you to come, Miss Walter?"

"Do I need to be?" Jenny retorted. It was obvious, no?

She hadn't any feud with the Fausts, so they had no reason to come after her. The only other possibility was that she was being used as bait for someone else. Zeke laughed. "You are as intelligent as they say. No wonder you have so many admirers."

"What's your plan, Mr. Faust?"

"I know what you're thinking. I won't be able to deal with the consequences of this, right?" Zeke continued on as if Jenny hadn't asked.

Jenny gazed at him in confusion.

"Truly, I never expected things to come to this. All I can blame is myself for having been so blind to others' genius besides my own sons and grandchildren."

He had raised them by hand since they were young, after all, so he was sure they were equipped with far more intelligence than ordinary people. His expectation that they might win in the inheritance rat race had greatly crashed into the ground after Alec turned up.

The boy was too difficult to control. Zeke could only resort to this now that things were beginning to spiral out of hand.

Jenny said, "Why does it matter who inherits the family? Alec is as much a Faust as your own line of children. The family will surely invite great success and wealth if he becomes the new heir. Isn't that what you desire?"

"It is. But sadly, I cannot pass the family to an outsider." No matter what, Alec would only always be an outsider to Zeke.

He also had a feeling that his own line of children would permanently lose the claim to the family once Alec took over. That couldn't happen under his watch. He had fought hard to claim the title of the family head all those years ago, so he couldn't let it go so easily.

Knowing there was no way she could dissuade him, Jenny continued, "Are you 100% certain that your family will perpetuate if Alec dies?"

"No." Zeke shook his head, sighing. "But if I don't do this, the family will no longer be headed by my line."

"I see. I have nothing else to say, then." Jenny shrugged, reclining in her seat as if she weren't the least bit worried.

It intrigued Zeke. "Aren't you worried about Alec? Or should I say, do you really have that much confidence that he'll succeed?"
