The Wrong Woman
Chapter 206

"Where are you going? Let me help you." She was worried that he wasn't strong enough and would collapse.

Nathan's voice was cold, and he was prickly. "Bathroom. Are you coming as well?" he snapped.

Suzanne's cheeks heated up, and she retracted her hand shyly. She felt awkward and was also taken aback by his strange anger.

He didn't seem particularly fond of Liam. Did they not get along?

"You, you go ahead." She lowered her hand and sat back down on the bed. She picked up her spoon and continued eating.

Her face was hot, and her heart was beating fast.

After the meal, she cleaned up and read on a chair. Nathan worked on business matters on his laptop.

The room was quiet. They did their own thing without disturbing the other.

Sunlight shined from the window. It felt bright and warm.

Suzanne would occasionally sneak glances at Nathan. She couldn't help but swoon over the way he looked when he was immersed in his work.

Even if they didn't converse or interact, she felt contempt and happy just by silently being next to him.

Her phone went off. She glanced at the screen and saw that it was time for him to take his medication. She put her book down and walked over. "It's time for you to take your medicine, Nathan." His eyes were fixated intently on the screen of his laptop.

"Go back and rest. You don't need to stay and watch over me. There are nurses here." His voice was calm.

Her hand stilled halfway while pouring him a glass of water.

Suzanne felt a bit upset. Did he not like her taking care of him?

She continued filling up the glass before handing him his medicine. "I have nothing else to do anyway. I want to stay and take care of you."

Nathan stayed in a VIP room. There was only one bed for the patient. The bed provided for accompanying visitors was narrow and stiff, making it unfit for rest. He didn't want her tiring herself out. He shut his laptop and looked at her. She looked worn out and exhausted. It was apparent that she hadn't been resting well.

He took the medication from her. "Do as I say. Get some rest at the barracks."

She lowered her head and twisted the corners of her shirt with her fingers, sulking quietly.

"Go." He swallowed the medicine and set the glass down. Then, he opened his laptop again.

Suzanne's heart ached. She hated the one-sided crush she had on him. Nathan wasn't the only man in the world. Yet, she was constantly feeling so insecure because of him. Because of this crush, she wasn't herself anymore. She was always careful and felt extremely sensitive and small.

"Okay, then I'll head back. Call me if you need anything."

He hummed in reply.

"Remember to take your medicine on time. Your wounds can't come in contact with water. You can't do anything too physically demanding. Take your meals on time too, and..." Nathan furrowed his brow and looked at her with a confused look as she spoke.

"Remember to change your wound dressings every day too," she continued.

"You..." He hesitated.

Suzanne faked a look of relief and exhaled with a smile. "Then I'll be heading back now. Rest well."

The words he wanted to say were stuck in his throat.

Was she not coming back to visit anymore?

He asked her to get some rest back at the dormitories, not asking her never to drop by ever again. So why did it sound like the latter?

Suzanne took two steps before a voice rang out behind her.

"Suzy."

"Yes?" She turned around.

The man immediately softened up. "Are you heading back to Phoenicia?"

She shook her head. "I'll head back after you recover. You did get hurt because you were trying to save me after all."

"Then are you..."

Still going to visit?

Suzanne blinked and waited for him to continue.

Nathan drew a deep breath and pursed his lips for a while. "Remember to get a few soldiers to go with you if you're ever heading out." "Alright."

The sight of her thin figure and weary face made his heart ache. He wasn't entirely willing to let her go, either. "Go back and get some rest."
