Chapter 20 Slept Like the Dead 

“Madam, there’s a fire up north in the city. People are yelling that the lightning hit someone,” the maid outside shouted loudly. 

Zhang Ling blinked rapidly, forgetting her tears. 

She wiped away the blood from her mouth as she felt the weight in her heart disperse, shattered by the lightning. 

Taking a moment, she glanced at the baby, who raised a tiny fist with an angry expression. 

“Sneak out and find out whose house got struck.” Zhang Ling felt the thunder was strange, almost as if … it was called forth by her daughter. 

Could it really have hit that scum? 

Jiang Ning immediately agreed and went out to tell the servants to investigate. 

“The Zhao family is truly ungrateful. Master Taojian risked his life to save Zhao Xiaoyu from drowning, yet now, they want to break off the engagement! If it weren’t for him, she’d be long gone!

Xu Jia, holding Yang Yuting, was so angry she couldn’t hold it in. 

Zhang Ling spat out blood, feeling some of the pressure in her heart case, but worry lingered. “People are just concerned about benefits.” She despised Yang Mingrui saying that this was Yang Taojian’s fate. 

“Miss Yang just woke up; why is she falling asleep again?” Xu Jia was surprised. 

Yang Yuting felt extremely tired after summoning the lightning bolt and was unable to keep her eyes open. She fell into a deep sleep immediately. 

At night, Hu Yue returned home, exhausted. 

“Madam, everything is sorted in prison. Old Madam Zhang way 

a bit shocked, but I sent medicine over, and it’s nothing serious. Master Zhang wants you not to worry; he knows what to do. Spending a few days in prison might actually be good for the Zhang family.

She slept from evening until noon the next day. 

The doctor came several times, each time shaking his head helplessly. “Miss Yang is perfectly fine, she’s just in a deep sleep.” 

“But why won’t she wake up? Normally, she wakes up every two hours. This time, she’s been asleep for a whole day and night.” Zhang Ling fretted, her mouth blistering from worry. 

“She’s probably just exhausted,” the doctor said before slapping himself. 

How tired could a forty–day–old baby be?
