Charlotte instantly deflated, laying on the ground a mess silently. She thought to herself, 'How is Everheart even cockier than before?! It's been four years, so hasn't she learned to tone down a little?! It's like I can't afford to offend her at all!

The principal squatted down as she asked in a gentle tone.

'My full name is Aiden Everheart, but you can call me Adie!"

"You're such a good kid, Adie. But it seemed to me that you were fighting with that little kid over there. Can you tell me what happened?"

"Adie wasn't fighting, Adie was just protecting Mommy..."

Aiden proceeded to explain everything in detail, then pointed to the teeth marks on Renee's wrist.

"Miss Principal, was I really wrong to protect Mommy?"
