Chapter 98 Emerging From the Light 

The kidnappers could not help but tremble after being yelled at by their leader. They looked at each other, and one spoke hesitantly. “But boss, they didn’t say we could kill her. Will we get into trouble…” 

“Damn it! If you bastards don’t do something quickly, I will shoot you first!” The gang leader cursed in pain as he tried to stand up. However, that kick in the nuts almost killed him. Both of his legs were weak. All he could do was lay on the ground and give orders. 

The leader of their group was considered an outlaw. Naturally, the men were more afraid of their boss than of Gwyneth. They looked at each other again and could not help but swallow a few times. 

In the end, they made up their mind. Just as one of the kidnappers was about to shoot, he felt a sense of numbness in his wrist. He looked 

down and almost fainted from shock as he saw the gun he held was now on the ground, and his wrist was bleeding profusely. 

It turned out that just as he was about to shoot Gwyneth, someone in the corner of the room had fired a shot at him. “Who did this?! Who 

the hell did this?!” He yelled..

boss and try to cheer himself on. 

However, before he could finish his sentence, another shot was fired.

The person shot this time was not as lucky as before since the bullet did not pass through his wrist but the small of his back. 

Gwyneth was startled by the sudden gunshot and wondered who was hiding in the dark. Although the two shots were fired to save her, it was still uncertain whether the person was on her side. 

‘Fuck it,‘ she thought. Gwyneth frowned and rolled toward Wanda while the kidnappers focused on something else. 

“Ms. Glen…” Wanda called out softly in a hoarse voice. 

“Shh. Hold on. Don’t talk.” 

Gwyneth patted Wanda’s head and untied the rope that held her hands together. After that, she grabbed Wanda’s wrist, and the two 

quickly hid behind a large wooden crate. 

“Are you injured?” Gwyneth asked as she helped Wanda undo the rope tied around her body. Her heart ached when she saw how bruised her wrist was. 

Wanda pursed her lips and shook her head violently. Though she was terrified to death at that moment, she did not want Gwyneth to worry. 

“Hey, everything’s gonna be fine. We’ll get out of here in no time.” 

Gwyneth knew what Wanda was thinking at a glance. She reached out to fix her messy hair and smiled softly. 

“I guess we’re going to be friends till the end now,” Gwyneth teased, not forgetting to joke around at a serious time like this. 

Wanda almost burst into tears and laughter hearing that. Just when she was about to speak again, police sirens sounded outside the warehouse. 

If Gwyneth and Wanda could hear the noise, that meant that the kidnappers also heard it as well. Their initial panic gradually intensified, and each of them broke out in cold sweat. 

The men eventually helped their leader up, but he was still unable to walk steadily. “Damn it! I’ll admit defeat this time! Let’s get out of here now!” After the leader said this, several men nodded and prepared to escape through the back door. 

The front door was kicked open just as they were trying to escape. Gwyneth’s body jolted at the sound of the door banging. She moved slowly and looked toward the door of the warehouse. The harsh light from the outside made her squint. 

she thought it was Liam, but she found the outline and figure of the man to be unfamiliar. 

Something stirred inside of Gwyneth’s heart. She turned sideways and slowly stood up. Then, the man took two more steps into the warehouse. When the light faded, Gwyneth could see the face of the person clearly. 

It was Hayden. 

Gwyneth pursed her lips, grateful but slightly disappointed that the man was not Liam. What a strange feeling,‘ she thought. 

At that time, Hayden had already walked up to Gwyneth while she was distracted. He looked at her up and down a few times. When he confirmed that she was unharmed, he said softly with a smile. “Long time no see, Gwyneth Glen.”
