Sitting in the police station and drinking from the water in the glass I took a few sips and so often felt the ground shake. The officer told me that these buildings were made to survive and only the lamps in the hall were swinging. I glanced at the other side as one of the other officers who had just interviewed me was walking over to John who had white napkin pressed on his face.

When John rose from his seat and followed the officer into the integration room I returned my gaze back to the officer who sat in the desk in front of me who looked at me with pity.

‘’ Thank you for cooperating today. Do you have a safe place to go because of the earthquake.’’ Said the officer with concern and waited for my answer.

‘’ Yes, I live in the University's dorm. It is just a walking distance away. Thank you for your concern. Can I go now?’’ I said, trying to muster a calm voice hoping I would be dismissed.

The officer gave me a number if I could remember anything else that could help with their case. I took the small paper and when the officer signaled me that I was free to go I rushed to the university with only one thing in my mind and questioned whether I had completely lost it or was I just imagining that I heard Bortums in my head.

I pushed that thought back and thought of my poor grandmother who was probably scared alone in her house. The further I walked I felt a sense of calmness when I saw most of the buildings were standing but that did not mean that my grandma was fine I had to see it with my own eyes. Most cabs couldn’t drive because of the earthquake and I hurried to the university to find my androids.

I knew Bortums could fly as I saw him several times floating off the ground but I did not have enough knowledge to know if the other two androids could fly as well. When I arrived at the university I ran towards the building where the dorms were and the study room. I opened the doors with the key card and quickly went inside. The further I came down the halls I heard distress calls from the students calling their parents because of the earthquake that happened.

I ran faster to my dorm and slowed down when I came towards it and wasted no time opening my door and then closing it after me. Breathing out for what felt like the first time I opened my eyes and noticed the tension that was in the room.

I shifted my gaze to Ekvtron when I heard what sounded like a razor being stuck in someone’s throat. I looked at his old wound believing the sound was coming from there but I realized it was his voice.

‘’ You are bleeding.’’ Ekvtron said gazing down at my bloody hands that were coated with John’s blood.

I was terrified, staring at him in shock not being able to respond. All that was rushing to my mind was that his awareness had been raised to the fullest.The one Bortums spoke of when I tried to communicate with Ekvtron several times but warned me that Ekvtron’s awareness was lowered to a dangerous level. Confused, I looked at Bortums. Was it for help or an explanation I did not know as I stood there waiting for him to do something.

‘’ What is going on?’’ I said with worry in my voice not knowing how to truly react.

Bortums took a step towards me and then floated from the ground and shortly after Ekvtron and Talus followed his suit. Bortums began to speak as he looked down at me and I looked up at him staggering a bit backwards and closer to the door where the doorknob was pressed against my back.

‘’ You surprised Jessica. You did your part of the deal all though I had to nudge you towards it a little.’’ Bortums said with words that did not make sense no matter how hard I tried to understand it. Then I thought back to when I heard his voice in my head when I was fighting John.

I became more nervous and spoke quickly. ‘’ But our deal- “

‘’Our deal? You seem to have forgotten that I fulfilled everything that you longed for respect and the status you were not able to achieve on your own. And your part of the deal?’ He said with a loud voice.

‘’ Exactly! I have done my part of the deal. I have kept you under the radar of the government. You think you can walk down any streets and not have your body parts stolen and sold off.’’ I screamed in frustration.

‘’ Then your greed must have blinded you. We have no use of your so called protection I chosed you because you are weak to your desires and your rage for this world connected us deeper than the soul and deeper than you will understand.’’ He screamed at me.

‘’What how-

‘’ You finally snapped and shattered my radar to the length where you connected with me through your hatred the one you could never havoc on this world on your own.’’ Bortums said with enough force in his voice that I was taken back.

Bright hot flames grew larger from their boots and before they flew through the ceiling Bortums spoke to me one last time and abandoned me for good.

‘’ Love made you weak but I never believed that it would be the straight path to your rage and hatred.’’ Bortums said with the same tone in his voice that he used to trick me with that he was not capable of the emotions I suppressed.

I felt a jamb in my heart spreading to my lungs as it hit me that he was the murder who used a flame the officer described to him with a degree that was hotter than lava straight from a bursting volcano. He killed Thomas in such a gruesome way with cruelty that made me scream at the top of my lungs as he looked down at me and crushed the ceiling as he flew away.

‘’ You killed him, You watched me day and night worry for him and knew that his corpse was rooting away.’’ I screamed at him with all the strength I could muster in my voice and collapsed to the floor hyperventilating.I couldn’t see him anymore but I knew from how loud I screamed that he heard my words. I tried to stand up and control my breathing when enough time had passed but suddenly I lost my balance and landed on the floor with a hard thud.

Confused, I looked down at the floor but the loud noises that came from the glass closet my androids used to rest in shattering on the floor from the earthquake that erupted. I forced myself to rush to the wall and hold onto it for balance. I tried to remember his words and became more angry but the more I felt hatred his voice echoed in my head. I took calm deep breaths reminding myself that if I remained calm he could not speak in my head anymore.

All he thought of me was flesh and bones that he could burn through like he did to Thomas and when I realized that all I was only that I realized what I had to do. The roof started to almost collapse on me by the large hole they left behind and I ran to the bathroom and tried to stand on the lock on the toilet but failed several times. I started to think of my grandma and the good memories with her and felt how the earthquake died down little by little giving me the opportunity to finally stand on the toilet and move the ceiling tiles slightly until it fell deeper into the other side. I quickly grabbed the syringe with a needle filled with Ekvtron’s liquid and my blood.

I jumped down from the toilet and stood on the floor holding tightly on the dark blue liquid. I stabbed the syringe directly in my neck emptying the liquid into my bloodstream. I tossed the empty syringe and was slammed to the other side of the bathroom as the ground started to shake more.

The determination to look at myself in the mirror was stronger than the earthquake and I managed to push myself to the mirror and took a glance. The veins in my neck were dark purple and pumping fiercely. The loud crashing noise that came from the bedroom made me run out of the bathroom and straight to the door. I stood in the hall and saw large cracks coming towards me.

The floor was split and I could see the second floor. There was nowhere to run except towards the large windows. I hesitated for a small bit but was convinced when I realized I was standing completely still and not losing my balance anymore. I ran towards the window and felt the glass pierce my skin as I jumped and waited for the impact. I came to the conclusion that I would rather break a few bones than have the roof crash on me. I opened my eyes and saw the ground was a few inches away from my face.

“ what the actual-“ I raised my arm and started to float more, well my arms were moving like i was swimming to find some kind of balance. Once I was on my feets floating slowly down to the ground I sprinted towards the forest as soon as my feets touched the ground and dodged the cracks forming in the ground and with only one thing in my mind that the androids were where it all began.
