Although my reflexes were fast, they weren’t quick enough to protect Trik and me from Tymon’s energy with my PRP. Luckily, when it slammed into us, its intensity was weak, and it didn’t try to kill us.

Instead, it picked us up and moved us out of Tymon’s way as he headed for the door.

“Tymon!” I yelled.

He ignored me and continued to leave the house. I focused some of my energy onto my necklace as Trik used his rupture prisms inside him to break free of Tymon’s hold.

When I dropped to the floor, I ran to intercept Tymon.

“Tymon, calm down,” I said to him.

Even though I was using all my strength to push him back, he continued pressing forward as my feet skated across his concrete yard.

“Move, Alissia,” he said to me.

“Just think about it! Where are you going? You don’t know where she was taken,” I stated, frustrated.

Trik flew around so Tymon could see him.

“I don’t think it would be wise for you to charge at them blindly,” he advised.

Tymon stopped in his tracks.

“What am I supposed to do, just sit here while they torture her?” he exclaimed.

“You think they’re torturing her? Why would you think that?” I asked sincerely. I hadn’t thought of that. Could they be torturing her?

“They could be,” Tymon replied. “It’s not unreasonable to assume so. Whatever they want with her, it can’t be good. Even as a Primordial, I don’t think she’ll survive if we take too long to find her.”

Trik and I stared at him in shock.

“You knew?” We said in unison.

“I figured out Za’Fia was a Primordial the night I introduced you to her. While playing with omni-vision that night, I noticed she had too much energy to be human. I didn’t say anything because I figured she’d tell me when she was ready,” he said.

“She hasn’t told you because she’s afraid you’d stop trusting her afterward,” Trik informed Tymon.

“Yeah, I get that,” Tymon said. “After two years, I figure bringing it up in conversation would be difficult. But she doesn’t have to worry about me not trusting her. She’s my closest friend; I’d never abandon her, human or not.”

Tymon turned and walked to the steps to his house, where he chose to sit.

“We have to find her,” Tymon said as he hung his head. “And don’t worry, I’m not stupid. I know I can’t charge in. I’d only get myself caught or killed as I am now.”

“Hm, that’s very mature of you,” Trik commented.

For the next half-hour, they tried to think of places Avarice could be holding her. There were dozens, by the way.

I asked Viraa if she had any clues as to where Za’Fia could be, and she said I’d already been given one in the form of a vision.

I told her I had never seen Za’Fia in a vision before, and she said it could’ve been something that represented Za’Fia instead.

Thinking back, the only thing remotely close to representing Za’Fia was....the flaming figure! In one of her previous visions, she’d seen it locked away like a captive. Was that the state Za’Fia was currently in?

I complained to Viraa about that vision only giving me a clue about what state she could be in, not where she was.

Viraa replied with another vague answer, but I urged her to help if she knew anything since Za’Fia’s life could depend on it.

She still didn’t give me a clue or a straightforward answer, but she told me I’d find my answer within the next twenty-four hours.

I looked over at Tymon, who was replaying the video over and over. He seemed to be searching for any clues they might’ve missed.

On the other hand, Trik was complaining about not being able to sense any other Primordials within 500 miles and needing better sensors.

We each were a little stressed and disoriented by the kidnapping, and the sun would’ve set in a few hours, so I suggested we head back home and turn in for the night.

* * * *

As he expected, Tymon had a hard time falling asleep. He was too worried and stressed about Za’Fia possibly being put through the same torture he endured.

For hours, he lay there, thinking about what Avarice, Verin, and the others could be subjecting her to.

The next thing he knew, he was waking up to a call from Alissia.

“Hey, everything okay? Where are you,” she asked after he answered.

“Yeah, I’m still in bed. I’ll be down in a bit,” he said groggily.

“That’s the thing, you’re not here,” Alissia said.

Tymon abruptly sat up and saw he wasn’t back at HQ, where he’d fallen asleep. He was now in an unfamiliar room.

Judging from the walls, it was somewhere in his house, but he didn’t have....it dawned on him that he was in Za’Fia’s room.

He must’ve shadow traveled there in his sleep.

He hadn’t been in this room since Za’Fia declared it her own when they became friends. He didn’t want to pry or mess with her things, so he immediately headed toward the door. As he moved, glancing around the room, he learned some new things about Za’Fia.

One being although she had money, she wasn’t very materialistic. Of the entire house, her room seemed to have the least expensive furniture and décor.

The second thing he learned was that she really liked wolves. Most of her things had a wolf design somewhere on them—even the frame of her mirror.

As Tymon passed the mirror, he leaned to look closer at it.

While doing this, he caught a glimpse of his reflection and suddenly noticed he’d been getting a strong sense of death since he woke.

Looking in the mirror at his reflection, he realized the death he was sensing...was his.
