After I got done unpacking, it wasn’t long until Madison called me down for dinner. When I got down the stairs to the table, it was all set and there was a lovely, delicious smelling pot roast with carrots and potatoes. Once we sat down at the table, we prayed. It seemed odd to me, but I went along with it.
“So you guys are Christians?” I ask as I began getting food on my plate.
“Yes, a lot people are on the Otherside.” Mason replied nicely.
“That is one of the many things your father never told you. That is a root our society is straying away from, but we will teach you.” Madison added.
“Okay.” I said plainly trying to formulate my thoughts. “I will be honest I’m lost.” I didn’t understand why the Otherside would have the same God.
“Okay, the Otherside geographically is like Pangea, one big continent. We are more of a whole and not separate nations, well if you don’t count mermaids.. Earth, this world is separate and divided; not just by geography but also by government. Yes, the two worlds are very different, but we share the same heaven and hell. That is what connects our worlds. Angels are from heaven and demons are from hell obviously. Angels and demons can’t be seen by humans, just look at the way their society is crumbling; you can definitely see demonic influence. Now beings from the Otherside can see them, but sadly we still are crumbling as we speak.” Madison explained.
“If there is worse demonic influence here, why come here?” I asked.
“Never said it was worse here. On the contrary we are safer here. The power order has been messed with. A vampire is in charge; they only won by numbers. We left before the overthrow because everyone knew it was coming.” Madison said with a little anger near the end.
“Power order?” I asked confused.
“Yes, the power order. Witches and wizards are at the top. They can do practically anything with spells and potions. Then it is us shape shifters next; our shape shifting abilities that make us blend in or become invisible, is what makes us excellent fighters and assassins, and we don’t even need a potion. Next in the power order are dragons, vampires and werewolves. They are lesser because they are bound to two forms. They are pretty much equal and have certain strengths. Dragons have their rage and size, and vampires and werewolves have their agility , speed and strength. After dragons, vampires and werewolves it would be psychics that can predict the future and talk to the dead. They are pretty much useless fighters unless they are one of the very few that can levitate. Anything below psychics are not worth mentioning. Besides, I’m pretty sure when you get your memory back you will remember all this from a lesson.” I cut her off.
“What about hybrids? Where do they lie on the chart?” I asked.
“Depends on the mix dear. There aren’t many mixes. It isn’t legal and yet mixes have come from the castle, how odd. Now you, you are very powerful. You are more powerful than any other witch or wizard so far. Well, you will be when we are done training you.”
That is when I finally understood everything to get my kingdom back. I understand more as to why the pressure is on my shoulders. After the explanations, it was small talk from there and after dinner, I went to my room and slept. I had long days ahead of me.
