Chapter 22

Once we got home, Harrison came out of his room and into the living room. “Hey guys! You hungry?” He said when he saw us.

“Isn’t it a little early to be eating?” I replied.

“Eating maybe, but cooking no. Do you care for some real food tonight or do you want to just stick to blood?” I could tell that Harrison really wanted me to eat his food. He has been offering a lot since Jason has been back. I think it’s because he misses us all actually eating together.

“I’ll tell you what. If you want a family dinner, you two eat and I’ll drink my blood at the table with you.” He seemed a little upset with my response but I could tell he was going to accept my compromise.

“Okay, I better start cooking.” There was a pause. “Oh, by the way, I invited Alex to come eat with us.” I was shocked that he was in contact with Alex.

“Since when do you and Alex talk?” I asked shocked.

“Does it matter? I haven’t seen him in a while since Jason came back, so I invited him.” I just let it drop.

“I’m sorry, I scared the bloodsucker away. I didn’t know you cared about him too.” Jason spoke out. I whacked him in the stomach.

“You didn’t scare him, I just never asked him to come over because I know you have a problem with him.” I responded while looking back over to Harrison and he was gone. I just assumed he went off to cook.

“I’m sorry, don’t let me stop you from having him over.” Jason replied sarcastically.

I turned back to him. “Well then, I will be inviting him over a lot more now.” I replied with a devilish grin. Then out of nowhere he pulled me in and kissed me. The kiss didn’t last long, it was interrupted by a knock on the door. I pulled away from Jason and answered it. Of course it was Alex. I let him in. We then all sat down and watched TV until it was dinner time.

A hour and a half later dinner was ready, and Harrison came out and called us to the table. We all sat down, while Harrison was bringing out the food to the table. Harrison had made chicken, mashed potatoes and green beans. It smelled very good, but to be honest food has been making me feel sick lately, so I haven’t been eating it.

“Are you sure you don’t want any food?” Harrison asked trying to persuade me by passing the plate of chicken in front of my face to set it on the table.

“No, I’m good Harrison.” I noticed he didn’t get my blood for me. I stood up. “I’m going to get some blood. Alex do you want some?” I waited for his answer.

“Yes, I would. Thank you.” he replied. I was about to move when Harrison pushed me down in my chair.

“Sit, I will get it for you.” He went to the kitchen and gave us glasses of blood. Finally when Harrison sat down, the boys got their food and then began to eat. Yes, Alex was eating. (Vampires can survive off of either blood or food. Vampires just gain more power off of blood than food). I eventually took a sip or two of blood and my hands started to get a bit shaky.

Jason looked at me and then glared at Harrison. “You didn’t put it in the blood did you?!?” He yelled at Harrison.

“What?” My voice was fading.

“Finish your blood now!” Jason snapped at me. I just did what I was told. Jason got up and looked like he was about to hurt Harrison.

“Calm down!” Harrison yelled. “I know it’s dangerous! That is why Alex is here.” Jason backed off to let him explain. “I know it is deadly to put the antidote in blood, but vampire blood makes the person survive, something you forgot.”

Alex butted in. “So you didn’t invite me just because you missed me?”

Harrison glared at him. “No, I need you because I know she wouldn’t eat food and this was the only way I would be able to get her back to normal!” He was mad.

I finally finished chugging the blood, every part of my body was feeling heavy. I tried to get up to go talk to them, but I fell to the floor. I saw them run to me and they rolled me over.

“I know she will be out of it longer but there isn’t much time to discuss this, I will explain more later.” Harrison finished the argument, as my eyes slowly closed.

“Alex save her, give her your blood please.” I heard Jason begging. A little bit later I felt Alex’s wrist on my lips. I couldn’t move to drink it.

“This isn’t working. Do you trust I’m only doing this to save her?” Alex said with panic in his voice.

I think Jason already knew what Alex was planning on doing. “Just do it.” I heard Jason say, I could hear in his voice that he was not happy with it. I managed to open my eyes a bit and caught a glimpse of Alex sucking some of his own blood before my eyes shut again. Next thing I knew his lips were on mine and he was pushing the blood down my throat. When he was done I passed out. I didn’t know what went on after that. I felt nothing at all.
