Chapter 71 

The woman said to them, “Ace cured the plague in our village back then. He was kind enough to treat my father–in–law’s rectal cancer during his return visit. My father–in–law has always respected Ace very much. However, not long after, my father–in–law suddenly had an accident. He fell down and became intellectually disabled. I’m afraid you can’t ask anything. He can’t understand a lot of things now.” 

Julian’s eyes moved slightly as he asked, “Did he not receive treatment?” 

The woman sighed. “We’re poor here. How are we going to pay so much money if we send him to the hospital? Back then, there was a plague. If it weren’t for Ace coming here, I’m afraid our villages would have died out long ago. We’re content to be alive.”

Julian recalled Jacob’s reaction when he saw Alexandra and felt that something was amiss.

Frank looked at his boss. Julian ignored them and returned to the hotel. 

Frank said, “If the boss doesn’t say anything, then there’s no need.” 

Frank stood in the corridor. He couldn’t figure out why his boss offered Alexandra a ride and asked her for money. 

Seeing her being caught by Jacob, anxiety was written all over Julian’s face.
