Liberty POV

I was starting to realise as I sat in a back of a large black SUV, that was equipped with all the gadgets and fine materials, that this perhaps wasn’t a dream. When pinching myself, it actually hurt.

I was saddened that the deliciously broody man put clothes on, I was enjoying my view…exactly what dreams were meant to be made of. I’d have great fun in seducing him when the time came to escape….

When this Evelyn put me in the back of her car and locked the doors, I was starting to panic slightly. I could see them through the back tinted windows that a small group of them were talking about me. Pierce, was it? They one I wanted to lick all over.

His eyes hadn’t left me once and when Evelyn moved me into the car I thought he was going to rip her arm off me.

The other guy, the one that resembled Father, was dangerous. I wouldn’t want to cross him, yet that’s all I feel like I want to do. Like I do with Father. I don’t know him but I already have a sense of wanting to annoy him as much as possible.

Brother? Why did Evelyn say he was my brother? I don’t have any siblings and why would Father never tell me if I did has any. This “supposed” dream was quickly becoming a new living nightmare.

I subtly try the car door, which results in all eyes snapping towards me. They had perfect hearing. I hold Pierce’s gaze for as long as I can, but something inside of me was urging me to look away.

He was clothed but I could see every detail of his muscles through the T-shirt that was too tight for him. I had to stop myself from licking my own lips.

“Sorry about that. We can’t all mind- link one another..” Evelyn says as she joins me in the back seat of the car, both Reuben and Pierce keeping their eyes on me until the door is shut.

“Where were you planning to go?” She turns to me and for the first time I can actually take in her beauty. She has white blonde hair that fell down past her shoulders, bright green eyes and a glow about her. I can be excused for thinking she was an angel.

“I was going to hitch a ride to the port, get overseas. I don’t know why but something inside of me was encouraging me to be honest with her, that I had nothing to fear when she was around.

“You wouldn’t have got far, you don’t exist on any records. You would have needed a passport to get out of the country. Who are you escaping?”

No records of existing? What an odd thing to say. Of course I existed. I remember having my own child’s saving account. Mum used to encourage me to learn about bank accounts when I was about eight years old. She wanted me to learn at a young age how not to take money and the way it was earned for granted.

As much as I might want to trust Evelyn, I wasn’t there yet with every detail. That guard would have had a bollocking from Vicky and that Natascha woman for not actually guarding me very well. They would also have been searching for me, as well as Father. I wasn’t sure if Evelyn would rat me out to either party, I didn’t want to make their lives easier in returning me to that apartment, so I kept tight- lipped.

Her eyes seem to un-focus before she curses to herself and tabs on the window. Reuben enters the driver’s side, her tab being the signal for us to move.

“Are you okay? Your eyes just had a funny turn?” I ask her, leaning forward to look at her eyes that I swear were bright green. They are now dark, like a forest.

“This is why you need to let me mark you, I can’t even mind-link you…”

“Patience my love, I’m worth the wait!” He chuckles before their eyes share a moment in the rearview mirror.

Pierce enters the front passenger seat and I feel the energy in the car shift. Like when you think you are alone in a room but see some kind of shadow in the corner of your eye…fear, anticipation…when the hairs raise on the back of your neck.

“Pierce, you need to rein your aura in. You mustn’t fear us Liberty.” Evelyn’s hand grips mine and it is only then that I notice I am clutching at my lungs, struggling to breathe.

I was given the check over by Doctor Noah, who took some of my bloods and sent them off for analysis. He seemed fixated on checking my eyes regularly, maybe he thought I had bumped my head.

He said he didn’t have insulin to hand, that they don’t need it…but that he would check my blood results and see why I have been taking it.

“Can you tell us why you were hiding in a warehouse?” Evelyn gently asks as I now sat in the living room with a warm bowl of soup in my hands. All eyes were on me, Evelyn’s, Reuben’s, Noah’s and Nate, who I had only just learned of his name. Pierce was sat next to me, his hands fisted into balls on his lap…did I make him angry?

“I ranaway from home about two weeks ago…

“With help?” Reuben rudely cuts in.

“Yes with help…” I finish, was he always this irritating?

“Who?” Evelyn is more tactful in her questioning.

“People you wouldn’t know.”

“Try me?” Reuben raises and eyebrow at me as he leans forward, his elbows now resting on his thighs, as he sat opposite me.

“Father is protective of me, he worries about me because of my diabetes.” I don’t miss the scoff Reuben gives, before all eyes turn to Noah on the mention of my illness.

“The money Mum left me, I was frustrated with not receiving it as he promised. So I decided to take matters into my own hands. When he finds me, he’ll only keep me away until I am twenty-one. Which he would have done anyway… “I shrug, to me this wasn’t a big deal but they were looking at me as if I was a victim of something.

“Odin, has been keeping you locked away?” Evelyn continues but in a manner I don’t appreciate, she’s making it sound sinister.

“What do you mean?”

“Liberty, you don’t have any records. There’s nothing to prove you actually exist. I hate to tell you this but I doubt you even have a bank account with Mum’s money in it. I imagine your father has been using it.” your

“What happened to your Mother?” Pierce calmly asks next to me, but it looks as if it has caused him pain. His eyes green like Evelyn’s but darker, almost taking on a blackness to them.

“She died when I was twelve. Then Father said I was now legally his, and helped look after me.

I tense when Pierce’s hand touches the back of mine, the pad of his thumb giving soft strokes which leave a strange tingle under his touch. For some reason I don’t pull my hand away, my body enjoying his touch.

“How much?” Reuben’s growl takes my eyes away from my hand to look up at him.

“Excuse me?”

“How much…how much money did your Mother leave you.”

“Erm, I’m not entirely sure the exact amount but enough to keep me looked after for two lifetimes. Maybe two- hundred…”

“Two-hundred thousand?” Pierce gently asks, his hand now holding mine. My hand oddly not wanting to snatch itself away.

“Two-hundred million.” I confirm, a gasp leaves Evelyn, as Pierce’s hand grips tightly around mine.

“Fuck!” Reuben roars as he stands up and storms out of the room.
