Evelyn POV

“What change in plan?” She growls at Odin, turning to face him. “I’ve decided to make Evelyn mine.” He says in a matter of fact tone, as if Vicky should already know this.

Just the very thought makes me sick to my core. I couldn’t imagine being anyone else’s but Reuben’s. No…no I was Reuben’s. Only Reuben’s. We had a troubles start but we have come so far.

“You can’t do that…we have a deal…” Vicky roars at him with spite, the she- devil revealing herself again.

“Well…I’m changing it.” Odin mutters as if it was only a business deal and only needed a change in contractual legislation. “You can’t! The plan was that you would take back the Red Stone pack and make me your Luna.”

“It’s not personal Vicky…I’ll make sure you’re looked after. Evelyn is the Silver Moon Alpha. She already controls a large alliance, with her as my Luna I can combine the two. More packs than I could have ever dreamed of. Plus she can clearly give me heirs…” He points his fingers at his own grandchildren, his own flesh and blood. They were the heirs, what would he do to them? Monster.

Our state was deteriorating quickly. The rules kept being changed, we really needed to get out of here. Somewhere safe where I can get word to Reuben or Donnie.

“Everything I’ve done, has been to stand by your side.” Vicky snarls, her wolf just below the surface, her anger is so strong it could almost be tangible.

“Don’t fool yourself Vicky. You’re spoilt and always want what you can’t have. This is no different. Let’s not forget if Evelyn hadn’t of returned into Reuben’s life you wouldn’t have sought me out.” He patronises her, even chuckling to himself as he pulls his mobile phone out from his inner suit jacket packet.

“Yes?” His tone cold.

“Alpha, she’s escaped.” I lend on my wolf’s hearing to hear the conversation.

“Where is she?” Odin seethes, his aura changing. He wasn’t actually angry before, but he is now and even Vicky notices. Her demeanour shifting slightly.

“We don’t know alpha, we are searching the area now. She won’t have got far.”

“Find her, find her now.” He growls down the phone before cutting the call. He walks over to me, placing his fingers on my head wound before gripping my chin with his fingers and moving my head up to look directly at him. My jaw tenses under his touch.

My teeth are ready to bite at anything he puts in mouth…. my

“I need to leave. Move them to my apartment, make sure you get her head seen to.” He orders as he starts to head towards the guards at the entrance.

“Odin!” Vicky growls at him, clearly not appreciating his additional demands for her. “You two…with me!” He clicks his fingers at the guards, ordering from them to follow him.

“Take care of the betas…they aren’t needed!”

No…

I pull at my chains as Noah’s and Cassandra’s eyes both snap to me before glancing to each other. No I won’t let that happen, it can’t happen. I can smell my own blood trickling down my wrists onto my dress as I continue to pull.

“Evelyn stop!” Noah’s voice enters my head but his eyes are fixed on his mate. I look around the container, damn… something…anything to help us.

Odin seems to stop as he enters the daylight outside. He sniffs the fresh air and turns with an odd smirk on his face.

He walks back inside and his behaviour remains bizarre. He crouches down and I don’t notice it until he pull is out. There is a cut-out part of the shipping container’s floor.

It had slot in so well that you’d be forgiven for missing it. I watch intrigued as he puts the metal sheet aside and pulls on a handle to reveal a secret passage away.

So they’ve been using underground tunnels to stay undetected. He leaves not even bothering to close the trapdoor behind him as I start to pull on the chains again.

Vicky let’s out a frustrated growl but waits until Odin has gone before doing so. Once she is sure he has disappeared she turns to her rogue accomplice with a sinister smirk.

“Yeah, I’m not doing that!”

“He’s broken the deal. Do the fuck what you want. I’m done. I told you he couldn’t be trusted.” The rogue seethes through gritted teeth.

Vicky grunts in agreement before she walks over to my children sitting on the floor. She picks Elspeth up, too roughly for my liking and stands her up.

I pull at the chains with all my power, not caring if they cut through bone. I can hear Noah wincing from the same pain but pushing through, trying to remove his chains too.

“We are going to play a little game.” Vicky states as she shoves the gun into Elspeth’s trembling hands. Elspeth’s eyes snap to Rex.

“You are going to shoot Mummy…” Vicky shouts, making Elspeth jump. Elspeth’s eyes flash to mine, her body trembling with fear as she starts to sob again.

“Do it!” Vicky growls, taking a threatening stance towards her.

“Leave her alone.” Rex growls, taking a protective step towards his sister only stopping when the rogue whistles from behind, his own gun pointed at Rex.

“It’s your turn next.” Vicky says as she turns her back on the twins, walking towards me. Her momentary lack in concentration gives Rex the second that he needs to get Elspeth out of here. Still handcuffed he runs into the rogue, knocking him to the ground, disarming him.

“Elspeth RUN!” Rex shouts, a command behind it, which she follows ….her legs running for her. My lungs breathe slight relief as I watch her run out of the shipping container.

“You little brat.” Vicky runs after her but Rex gets in her way.

“Leave her alone.” He growls, gaining Vicky’s murderous glare now.

“You shoot…” She snarls putting the gun in his hands. “Or I swear on the moon, I’ll go get her and bring her back…and shoot her in front of you.”

Thank the moon that he was able to get Elspeth out, now I just needed to keep him safe. “I’m sorry Mum.” Rex says as she lifts the gun and points it to me. My brave sweet little alpha.

“It’s okay sweetheart, I love you. This isn’t your fault, don’t blame yourself once.” I softly smile, a tear rolling down my cheek for the lifetime of guilt he’ll feel. His committing to a life sentence, I should know. Memories that will haunt him in his darkest times.

“Rex..Rex…” Noah yells trying to pull out from the chains. He’s cutting through his skin.

“Rex wait…” Cassandra screams, as she winces from the pain Noah is causing from pulling at the chains. They were mates, they can feel each others emotions and pain.

I can’t keep my eyes off Rex, he’s doing this to protect his sister. She would never survive this. He lifts the gun, pointing it directly at me. He hesitates, which causes the rogue to take a step closer, his gun still pointed at Rex.

With a last deep breath in..and deep breath out. I prepare myself for the silver bullets. Bullets made to pierce werewolf skin in a more aggressive manner, harder to heal from.

Rex closes his eyes before he pulls the trigger, the sound of the gun shot resonating throughout the container.
